I haven't touched League in nearly two months, but at least half this stuff still applies to any game really. League is only serving as a means of analogies or bringing their greater points to light.

38:25 "in much wisdom is much grief, and he who increases knowledge increases sorrow" just sums this up perfectly. I think a big mistake I've had is a tendency of going into games from the start trying to get that knowledge instead of just willingly accepting that "noob" phase and just playing the game for the sake of playing at the start.

I remember the first episodes of BBC where I really loved how deep and meaningful can League be, not only in League itself but in life. Thank you for this content, here since Ep. 1 and still loving it. Also, you guys recognizing me again made me sooo happy HAHA! Thank you a lot for this really (*ノωノ)

I would like to inform you guys of a book called the "4 Agreements" the four can be found on the internet as well. That has to do with being satisfied in ones self and ones addition to the world. It can be compared to the solo q experience very well such as doing your best to avoid self judgement and regret.

About the "fear of sucess": In my experience it is some kind of imposter-syndrome where you are in a certain rank where you don't think you actually belong. I had that too when I reached plat for the first time that I constantly thought to myself "oh my god they're gonna find me out any moment" and I tried WAY too hard to "pretend to be a platplayer" by doing superdumb plays that I would never have taken if I had just played normally. It's just a weird overall feeling where you are constantly intimidated by everyone around you because you think they're so much better than yourself. I can highly recommend the "imposter syndrome: why you have it & how to overcome it" video from "struthless" here on youtube he pretty much nailed the whole concept of fear of sucess. It also goes hand in hand with self-sabotage imo they are leading to similar behaviours of talking yourself down and seeing everyone else as better than yourself. nathan is a lee sin btw :)

I've always thought of Nathan to be the most similar to Pantheon. With his rework they also reworked his lore, and his new story is that originally his name was Atreus. He was of a warrior of a random tribe near Targon, and while he wasn't the best warrior, he always persevered. He and his buddy Pylas climbed Mount Targon to get the power of the ascended (Zoe, Azir, Xerath, Nasus, Renketon, Aatrox etc.) to defend their tribes from invading barbarians, and while Pylas died in the attempt, Atreus was given the power of The Pantheon. But since The Pantheon saw Atreus wasn't the strongest warrior, he just took over his body and did a bunch of stuff without his consent. Eventually, The Pantheon got into a battle against Aatrox and lost, and Aatrox left The Pantheon to die. The Pantheon left the body since it was impaled and bleeding out and left it to die as well. Atreus came back from the corners of his own mind, and out of perseverance crawled his way back to his home. With his new powers, he went to fight the barbarians that were invading his home, but he saw they were only migrating to escape the slaughter of Aatrox. Atreus saw that the power of the gods was not being used to help the common man, but to instead fight amongst each other, with mortals left in the crossfire. They were just as cruel and wretched as the Darkin (evil celestials). But now he had the power of the celestials at his disposal, and an unbreakable will. While the spear and shield were once powered by The Pantheon celesital, they are now powered by Atreus' own willpower, and he roams Runeterra looking to stop wars and protect the common man. There's a bunch of mini stories where Pantheon goes to help random tribes that are being attacked by Celestials or Darkin, and the people he's saving become inspired because he's not some divine god or anything, since gods give up and don't respect the mortals that pray to them. He's a Man, with a willpower to challenge the gods. Plus Nathan has a beautiful beard just like Pantheon "Because we fall, the climb must be our destination" - Pantheon

Love the opening conversation. Makes me think of a question I had the other day which is: What should Riot do to make players consider ranked a more serious game mode. I feel like there are too many people that go into ranked without a serious mindset and it lowers the overall quality of the games for all involved. Some Examples: First timing a champion in ranked / being on your phone at the start of game and not watching for invades / not playing normal games when you want to goof off and not play with a focused mindset.

Soloq Contract: 1) You will be solely responsible (you've done so much damage in the game that it's irrecoverable) for losing the game for 4 other players (minimum 10% of games), which will cause frustration and anger. (intentional mute all overpowered, intentional focus on your actions) 2) You will be subject to secondary role games, these games can last 15 minutes or 40 minutes. 3) You will be playing a game where one mistake can cause a snowball effect for the enemy due to the nature of the game. 4) You won't know everything about multiple roles. (Bwipo) 5) You will be playing with younger and older players.

1:02:34 Valorant has options for making your name hidden from others and COMPLETELY hiding other names from you. Second, looking up players is more difficult. Blitz requires the user to be using the app, and tracker.gg (sort of like an op.gg of sorts) requires you to log in and give permission. From playing Valorant, I've just seen quite a lot of things that League desperately needs. One example is that players who are currently serving a punishment for toxicity in Valorant( comms toxicity mainly) are BANNED from ranked during that time.

i think what you guys do is teach the information that everyone considers to be a given. strats, op.ggs, winrate, these are all things that are seen as a step above. An advatage. But in reality its merely extra. You guys teach the real content. The 90% or even 99% of what it really takes. People such as LS know this info and learned it from starcraft but from his perspective he thinks this is what everyone should know already and instead focuses on the extra that makes a difference almost only in proplay.

Hi Curtis and Nathan, I asked Midbeast if I could ever make it to challenger if I’m four seasons plat, he said no chance for you at all. I used to play soloQ everyday prior to hearing that, but after that I felt very discouraged so I stopped for a week. He’s probably right and I knew I couldn’t do it anyways, but I don’t know why I lost all motivation to play. Would you say it’s better that I quit at this point? Btw in terms of personality, Curtis gives Viktor and Ryze vibes for sure.

You guys speak about David Goggins a lot. If you research more, especially the Navy Seal community, and all their various podcasts, Goggins got kicked out because of his attitude. He believes he was better than everyone else and didn't fit with any teams to go active because of this attitude. He turned most of his story into a victim based mindset and nobody wanted to work with him. He has done some AMAZING things, but his mental attitude was garbage. Garbage enough the military didn't want him in any squad based teams to rely on him.

Ok League players are toxic ( Imo its actually just 1.2 players on average(my guess) a game where u lose, no ones toxic when win). Solution is not make everyone in league a better person. This is not school. Imagine you told someone in a COD lobby, dont flame or whatever. Solution is give chat restrictions more freely. Everyone in the top 10% (currently maybe reduce in the future if less toxic) of most reported should get chat banned for a month. Psycho analysing a 15-20 year old who is flaming in chat to vent frustrations from school/work isnt going to get anywhere. Honestly the new summoners code could include something along the lines of team mates will play better if u dont flame which will increase chances of winning. Not that it will make a difference if even Curtis hadnt heard of the Summoners code.
