This is why I love you Jon. You easily could have edited this to make it seem like you are perfect everytime but instead you let us not only learn from the mistake but appreciate how you got from error to success.
lmao I died of laughter when you said the first batch was terrible. I not only love this channel for your sense of humor, (obviously), but also for how brutally honest you are with all your recipes subbie 4 life!!
I want chef jon to narrate my life.

Adam Fuzzybutt He's not everyone's cup of tea. I personally like his voice, it makes the execution of the jokes so much better. Go watch his older stuff, from like 2007 - he has a much deeper voice in those videos.
I want to thank you for all the recipes. I can now cook foods people will eat.
Soup too thick? Then call it a dip! Then slowly look over your shoulder to make sure no one heard you say soup.
I once cooked a pot of gooey starch, because I thought you could simmer spaghetti noodles low and slow. This year during the holidays, I noticed people were actually excited that I was cooking. It was a surprise to me, and it felt very good! I've come a long way, thanks to you Chef John. :-)
The thicker version looked like gourmet baby food, and from your reaction, it possibly tasted like it. Glad you left that part in, and explained how to fix it, since many people would end up with the same results if they tried this. The thinner version looked excellent, and good point on using bite size croutons. Also love the mix of cheeses you used. Love your videos!!!!
fascinating to see how you fail. I learned a lot this way. thanks, chef!

Eric O agreed! I like that he's not afraid to show us his mistakes, and walk through his thought process in improving them.
Thanks for showing the whole video. This is a perfect example of how to "stay with it" to achieve the desired results. Winner Winner - Broccoli Soup for Dinner!!!
After watching this, I opened a can of cream of chicken soup, buttered and toasted some bread, got my pack of sliced "cheese", put it in a stainless steel bowl and popped it in the oven. I feel so gourmet.
The only food channel that show you how we may potentially failed and saved the meal.
Best channel on KZread. Please don't ever stop making videos.
posting videos of fails just makes chef john more awesome.
oh my gosh its so nice to see such a skilled chef fail and then try again with such good results thank you chef jon

I always get so excited when I see that you've posted another video. Your recipes are always so amazing, and watching you cook always convinces me that cooking isn't as complicated as we novice cooks are afraid it is. I love when you show us your mistakes too - it reminds me of myself in the kitchen attempting new things. It's hard to describe a cooking video as inspirational, but your cooking videos are inspirational. Thank u Chef John
I appreciate the educational purpose of your videos like this one, Chef John. You never needed to show corrections or a remake, just final results. But there was a lesson to be taught. Thanks.
been watching this channel for a long time and he still kills me . this guy knows humor
I kinda like how you still showed your mistakes in the video, its cool because it shows that even a chef like you isnt perfect and we mess up but dont stop filming because the show must go on!
One thing to really love about your methodology is you include some of your failures and admissions of imperfect successes. It definitely helps us kitchen neophytes who really don't know a lot about what we're doing or how it's supposed to turn out.
love how he narrates his fail but still keeps his tone of voice calmly lol
Either way thick or thin it looks delicious 👌🏼
Man I love thick soups, both look awesome to me
I had a comment but I can't see through my tear!! Too funny!! Love the Dan Fouts reference...appropriate for the way you "Charged" ahead to save the soup!
Love that you showed your mistake and your solution. Thanks for being human!
Waiting for the day chef John will respond!

What I love about your videos is how transparent you are with your experimentation, your mistakes, and your results. And of course you have a golden voice. Thanks for the recipe!
6:08 I don't know why maybe because I wasn't expecting it, but the way you said that was so hilarious.
You said the first one was terrible but I still would have eaten every.last.bit! 😄
No views and 1 like. That's when you know you're good.
The thick one actually looked tastier to me. But I'm also the type who breaks like six-seven crackers into soup. Possibly more. Definitely more.
Thankyou! I like when you show the mess ups, it helps us avoid it.
always honest in you after action report. failure = learning moment. Thanks!
I loved that you were so honest and showed you are human no matter what!! love you chef
"...you can use veggie stock, whatever that is." I want to hug you through the KZreads! :D
I personally prefer thicker soups. Thanks for the recipe!
I'm vegan, can I replace the cheese with dirt or sand?

Just use the "Parmesan" in that green can. As we all know, there's no actual cheese in there anyway.

Does anyone else get excited to get a notification from here?
Oh mon Dieu! cela à l'air tellement délicieux!
The first bowl of soup looked amazing... to me any way 😛 I will certainly try this tomorrow. I love your channel
Chef John I would like to see your take on Pad Thai
wow, i always learn something new from chef john. today i learn i can chop up and eat the broccoli stem.... i used to throw that away
i love that you put the video on anyway and everyone can see that even someone as skilled as you are can still make mistakes. :)

Love ur honesty. 2nd version looks amazing! Thanx 💕❤️👍🏽
Chef John, I love you! I love your food, I love your humor, I love your disdain for vegetable stock, whatever that is.
2 Recipes in 1!! a starter to a broccoli dip and a broccoli soup!!! YESH!!!
It's 3 degrees Fahrenheit outside here in lovely Wisconsin, where 90% of the Wisconsinite diet consist of beer, cheese, bratwurst sausages, and the Green Bay Packers. As I am also a broccoli lover, this soup looks delicious and totally perfect for consumption in Wisconsin on a bone chilling day. I am convinced Chef John is secretly a cheese loving Wisconsinite that enjoys good micro brew beer and loves the Green Bay Packers.
love that you kept the mistake in
I loved it because you didn't give up!! Yes!!!
Yum!! Love this type of soup......easy and quick.
Love your sense of humour.
Chef John blew a 3-1 lead.

Well, Chef, don't feel bad. You salvaged the operation with no waste. A little time was all that was lost. You tried, erred, corrected and saved us the trouble.
Appreciate you humbly showing a struggle... thanks
i like the way you cook because you give good tips and tricks and aren't afraid to make and admit mistakes
Love this cook
Most would have re shot the video, but I like chef John learn from my mistakes so I respect that he can admit to a mistakes...
oh but the thick one looked good too!
Looks great!!! I actually like thick broccoli soup 😊
I love this guy👍

They both look delicious, Chef John. Always the professional.
Chef John spoil's us with all these delicious recipes ☺️
Chef, you ever cease to amaze me! Keep it up!
Looks delicious!
Awesome video Chef! I really appreciate videos like this, where you show some problems you ran into that might not seem obvious, rather than just redoing it the "right" way using the magic of editing.
Glad that you let this be a learning experience and more so that you shared the mistake with us! This was sure to happen to some one and now we have an idea how to prevent "broccoli bread pudding".
Love the video, thanks for adding your mishaps. We all need to see that.
Cant wait to make this tomorrow!
Thaaanks Chef. My next food wishes: 1. cheese soup with crutons and broccoli toppings 2. bread soup with stale broccoli and cheese topping 3. bread soup with stale cheese and broccoli toppings 4. cheese soup with stale broccoli and melted bread And as aaalways, enjoyyy!!
Love it!! 😋
Well. I thought the first version looked beautiful and delish!
Thank you chef. It is a nice recipie.
Looks amazing 😋😋😋
I actually want to try to thicker version 😀😋🍜 looks yummy to me.
I am so going to make it tonight!
Dan Fouts! Awesome!
I know presentation is important, but if it tastes good, you're doing good!
chef john still killin it. Gonna try this tomorrow with the small croutons, and maybe a little less broccoli. Very excited.
I love that you shared this with us. If you are new to cooking you can think a mistake is a big deal but it is not and we all make them.
Thank you for making cooking fun again.
But thick soup is gorgeous!!
Nice one Chef, Just making a batch of my Broccoli & Stilton soup mmmmm :)
That sounds really good. I might try it with cauliflower, or a mixture of both.
I love that you show your mistakes. It is very encouraging!
Looks good and you still rock!
This is the best video you've made. Laughed do hard!
Perfect
Looks yummy
I love you Chef John and here's to 2017 being our best year. :)
It's good to see you show some of your "SEMI mistakes". Makes me feel almost not as bad when I screw something up. Thanks for the inspiration!
Something I've been wondering for a while is why we don't want the garlic to brown at all in these recipes. Isn't toasted/roasted garlic pretty delicious? Just wondering, thanks.
I would try this without blending the soup, or maybe just blending a portion of it. I thought it was strange when he blended it, I prefer broccoli soups to have broccoli chunks in it.
