A true 'one of a kind'. He wore his heart on his sleeve when he sang. He was a character and from stories I've heard cut quite a swath wherever he went. His heart was as big as his stature, and you always knew where you stood with him. He will be missed.

Several years ago my wife had a Adoption Awareness event in Oklahoma City and Toby came by the booth and struck a conversation up. He found out my daughter was a big fan and that she had the flu. Toby asked my wife to call my daughter and spent the next 45 minutes talking to a sick 12 yr old little girl and sent multiple signed pictures and cd's home for her! He actually took time out of his schedule to make a stranger's little girl feel better and i will till my last breath be grateful. RIP Toby

Toby Keith, you were "Made in America" "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue". May there always be "Beer for My Horses" in "Red Solo Cups". Ya know, "I Should of Been a Cowboy" with "A Little Less Talk and a Lot More Action". But that was "Beers Ago"..."I Love This Bar" to "Get Drunk and be Somebody" like with all those "Drunk Americans" and the "Whiskey Girl". Toby Keith, you were a "True American Soldier" RIP.

I was lucky enough to meet him and his wife once in 2014 at his restaraunt in Vegas. The restaraunt was shut down cause he was there and his wife saw me peek in wearing one of his shirts. She brought me in and he popped out of no where. Sat with me for an hour and just chatted. Took pics, gave me merch and signed stuff for me. He was such a sweet down to earth man. He will truly be missed. ❤

Toby, on his own, can make you feel the ups and downs, laugh and cry, and it’s awesome. Between his respect for our troops with American Soldier and Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue, to his funny side like this song and I Wanna Talk About Me and How Do You Like Me Now and Red Solo Cup, then his beautiful love ballads like Crash Here Tonight and You Shouldn’t Kiss Me Like This. And his storytelling is amplified in Beer For My Horses. But if you wanna see how big his heart truly is, you should see his dedication to Wayman Tisdale, Crying For Me…which now describes how we feel about him, too. My personal fave? Whiskey Girl. I always felt like that song was written for me. ;-)

I will never forget I went to New Orleans to watch the Sooners play Alabama in the 2014 Sugar Bowl and the night before the game a lot of fans were gathered down in the lobby of the hotel the team was staying at to catch some of the players to say hi and take pictures and Toby Keith was down at the bar with all of us hanging out and visiting. I got a picture with him at the bar that night and I’ll never forget it. And he just hung out with everyone down there just like any other OU fan!

Love all your reactions. Especially love your like of Toby Keith. If you like the light-hearted side of Toby, have you listened to/watched "I wanna talk about me", and "Red Solo cup?" The red Solo cup is an American staple at parties, BBQ's, sports events, etc. Kind of a frat party vibe. Here, the Solo cup is as common as eating on paper plates. Not classy, but announces fun.

#GOTGames ... Toby Kieth was the epitome of what real American Patriotism is all about. He loved this country and the men and women who serve in every branch of the military. He once told off a country group called The Dixie Chicks for saying bad things about the USA and it’s current president in England. He said “You do not slam your country in somebody else’s (basically)! He was right. I lived there when the second Iraq and Afghanistan war started in retaliation for 9/11. Britain lost 92 (please don’t slam me if that number is wrong, I have memory loss associated with an illness I have). My ex-husband was English and he was working at a place. I had never been outside the US (Hawaii is still the US). We had gotten married earlier in December but I had to wait for Visas (they were still wrong... I had to fly all the way back to the US to have a British Resident put in my passport because doing it at the embassy was just too easy and so I got to Britain in March. On my birthday, we invaded and all the countries who joined us. The hotel staff were so kind to me, warning me to not go out by myself because this area of Britain had a high population of Pakistani and Afghan Muslims. Okay, no problem for me because they did not attack my country and they were seeking refuge so why be mad at me, we where trying to free them from the Taliban. I went two blocks to some shops and I was harassed and attacked in Woolworth’s (Woolie’s to y’all... but they sold American stuff). I had to be spirited away by the police, driven around so anyone watching would not know where I was staying and they took me to the place my ex was working and it was, how do I say this, not a place problems like this should be put on their doorstep. (It had to do with an F1 team, but not the F1 site! I was even more humiliated! It was my birthday, newly married and I did not want him to get in any trouble. Toby Kieth came out with two songs “Next thing on my List” a little less obvious that it was about 9/11, but when he heard about how Americans abroad were coming under attack, he came out with “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue... the Angry American”! A true patriotic song about our country an our freedoms... not the government.... it was about how we were attacked. Toby went to American bases and did concerts, met people and signed autographs. Then he went into the battle zones. He trained so he would not be a burden to the forces on the ground. He went more times than the USO! Toby Kieth was just his true self and he did not change for anyone. He wrote and sang silly, crazy songs that anyone else would have been laughed at and thrown out of country music for and his slow songs were beautiful. Like Kenny Rogers, he had the raspy, gravelly type voice who made those love songs and sad songs even better. His true talent was having fun with his music and he has so many songs that are just laugh out loud and you love them. So, my requests would be for the videos “I Wanna Talk About Me”, “How Do You Like Me Now”, “Trailerhood”, “Whiskey For My Men, Beer For My Horses”, “I’ll never smoke weed with Willie Nelson again” and The Ultimate Toby Kieth Song (that only he could ever do) “Red Solo Cup”! There’s more but if you want to laugh, you can’t go wrong with Toby! He leaves a giant hole! Go Rest In Peace Toby, you earned it.... from a grateful American who is patriotic as well! We will miss you! “Don’t let the old man in” will break you down into tears! 🇺🇸 Also, Toby Kieth discovered Taylor Swift and he was in with Scott Borchetta starting Big Machine Records and helped Taylor get her first recording contract, before stabbing them both in the back!!!! You really should read about all the charity work he did. He was amazing!

Theres a reason why of all his accolades he was most proud of being inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. For instance he took a throwaway comment from Clint Eastwood, after they played a game of golf together, and in turn wrote his most poignant songs, Don't Let The Old Man In. He sung it in one of his last televised performance, not a dry eye in the place.

As a young British guy, I don’t think you could have paid a higher tribute to Toby. Thank you! I’ve been a country music gal since the early 90’s. Toby was always in my country music vocabulary. But, I believe, where he became cross genre/cross political/cross international boundaries was with “Angry American” song and the “negative” media from that. It’s the perfect Streisand effect . He put in words the things so many people felt. We had Johnny, Bocephus and Toby…who’s gonna fill those big ol’ shoes?

Toby was a very unique force in country music. He came up right around the same time that the genre had a giant shift from the classic "old" country sound to the more modern sound. He stayed relevant through that transition and wasn't afraid to change or try something new musically. He was equally brilliant at creating music that was pure comedy, as well as music that makes you reflective, thoughtful, prideful, etc. Never took himself too seriously or was boastful. He did a lot for our veterans overseas, making countless trips overseas to perform for troops. He also helped bring up other artists that he saw who had talent, always willing to help the "next one in line". He held the respect of many who came before him, and many who came after. He left his mark, a very large one.

But I do believe one of the main reasons is I was a paratrooper in the US Army. There's a reason there's a meme that says something along the line of, "Don't mess with the paratroopers. That's a whole different level of crazy."

The video is funny too! and "Beer for My Horses" It features another huge name in Country, Willie Nelson. This one is basically talks about laying down the law....like in the olden days. I still like country music now, but I listened to it a lot more in the late '90s/early '00s, and that was prime Toby Keith to me. Here's some of my favorite songs (and why): "Should've Been a Cowboy" (classic Toby) "How Do You Like Me Now?!" (a "prove the haters wrong" song) "Get Drunk and Be Somebody" (a "time to unwind" song) "I'm So Happy I Can't Stop Crying" (a "getting through a breakup/divorce" song) "You Shouldn't Kiss Me Like This" (a solid country ballad)

You need to see Beer for my horses with Willie Nelson. It’s like a small movie!!!! He had a lot of great video’s and songs. Some make you laugh, some make you cry. He sure will be missed. I seen in concert at least 4 times. Great shows. He would have been married 40 years next month. Had 1 son and 2 daughters and several grandchildren.

💖 Thank you SO much! Can't think of a better tribute to our Big Dawg Daddy than to be sharing laughter (or tears) with his music. Gosh is he special, eh? When my daughter was five, her favorite song was "Beer for my Horses" and she sang the chorus ALL THE TIME but with her own little twist. Carolina Dawn had the best little gray Shetland pony named Stoney Mac and she changed the words to, "whiskey for my men, root beer for my Stoney!" Carrie is 26 now but i can still hear it 🥹 "Beer For My Horses" would be a good one for you to react to. Talk about a mini movie! Again, thank you. This one hurts. But it has been so comforting to see all of these hundreds of reactions videos and watch so many others discover what we Toby Keith fans have always known. Rest gentle, cowboy. We'll keep your music playing... 🙏🕯️ ~🩵☘️🥀

Toby & I are about the same age & from the same neck of the woods, I’ve been a fan since he started out but never got the chance to see him live. Ten years ago I was at Oaklawn Race track in Hot Springs Arkansas walking inside & saw him coming in the opposite direction right towards me. I didn’t want to draw any attention to him, so I just waited until we were about 5ft away from each other & gave him a nod & a big smile & didn’t slow down. He tipped his hat to me & gave me a wink & a big grin 😀 He was there running a horse of his that day, if I would have known which one, I would have bet on it! RIP brother, your work here was done.❤

You Shouldn't Kiss Me Like This is another Toby Keith song with great reversal writing similar to this one (good as I once was / good once as I ever was type thing), but in a love ballad. I think you'd like it a lot!

Toby was a Patriot, comedian, authentic country singer, and he loved his family. I saw him in concert (Coors Field, Denver), and Montgomery Gentry opened for him. It was a bit rowdy, and lot of fun. My favorites of his were You Shouldn't Kiss me Like that, I Wanna Talk about Me, and Red Solo Cup. Sad that of the 3 men I went to see that night, now 2 of them have passed, too young. Toby also starred in 2 movies, one which he wrote. One final Hell Yeah to Toby Keith! R.I.P.

I’m super happy and grateful this was the music I grew up on. Losing Toby felt like a part of my childhood is lost. Used to blast him on CMT every night dancing at my grandparents house; having my pawpaw singing… just the absolute best times. He has so many hits. Such a loss ❤️
