What’s the name of the app for this? I have used similar looking unit, some named “Blackbird”, and some named “No Hassle” and there is an app for the no hassle which works. Also, you can point your browser to the units IP address and set things that way, at least if it’s like yours.

Hi therockstudio, were you able to get the remotes to work through the remote IR? thank you much!

Hi! Yes, I placed the receivers too high, too far away. So it was my fault. The remotes work fine when they are used closer to the ir receivers. I'd say try to stay within 6-7 feet or two meters. There is a sequence when using the remote controls, which must be taught to the end user. At this location, they mainly use the app which works well, and you can see what you're doing instead of just following the sequence. Thanks for your question, and thanks for watching.

Anthony - do you have an update to this video at all? The follow up items you were mentioning that you needed to follow up with Tech Support on or figure out yourself. Wondering how this setup has been performing (assuming they actually opened) since you configured it. Thx!

Hi! Yes I do have an update. I should put it in the description. It turns out that I was provided the incorrect serial number. It was a serial number for a different model which would not enable me to access this unit. After I got that sorted out it has been working fine. Sometimes you have to restart the app to get it to connect and switch I/o properly- but also there's probably more than one mobile device controlling the unit, so it might respond better to just one mobile device being in charge of switching (for instance, the app may have been open one more than one phone, mine and the managers'). It turns out that while I was having problems getting tech support, the company was in the middle of restructuring it's support department, from what I heard. The fellow who was in charge of my support case apparently had left the company, which is why my emails went unanswered. I just stayed in contact with my salesperson, and he gave me a proper serial number. So far, the unit is working well. My clients haven't really had any issues that I can recall, maybe one time they had to reset the device. But it does its job really well, we have TVs all over the place now, as well as the projector, and it works well. I'm satisfied. It's been running since late June, so 6 months as of now. Just remember to keep it cool with plenty of ventilation. And it is very noisy, so make sure it's out of the way somewhere. Thank you so much for watching and commenting.

@@therockstudio Thanks Anthony for the update! Do you have any experience with the MonoPrice 8x8 Matrix (#27842)? I had been looking at that model before coming across your video on Brightlink. I noticed you run your sound through a different solution. I am only using this for my home (indoor and outdoor). Would either of these handle surround sound effectively just with the Matrix system itself? I have 2 situations (1 indoor and 1 outdoor) that I want to have surround sound on. Thx!

@@kevinkleinmann hi Kevin, I have installed one of the monoprice Blackhawk matrixes, but only in a simple scenario. I'm sure the imbedded audio within the HDMI signal can bring your surround sound to any destination, with either product. You'd need a surround receiver and speakers at each location though. Is that what you're asking? In this case, I chose the brightlink because of the number of i/o which was double that of the monoprice. I didn't want to try to link two monopric matrixes. But like I said, I'm sure the audio stream will be intact through either product.

Hey dude. Looks like a pretty complex matrix. I was with you up until about 8 or 9 minutes when you started talking about your ornge cables and those 3 boxes with the orange cables plugged in. What are they for? Maybe you have a simple diagram of your system. I'm about to quote to install someting like this in Australia and I'm wondering if this does too much or is just right. Thanks so much for your video

  • @therockstudio

Hi Richard, thanks for the comment and the compliment. So the orange cables are feeding additional TVs, beyond the eight that the matrix is capable of feeding. So in other words, if I had 8 individual TVs, but I wanted to have 9 TVs, there would be an extra TV that just shares one of the matrix outputs. So you would have two screens in your building that would be linked, one coming from the matrix, one coming from an HD baseT over cat6 extender. In my video, I have two additional TVs, and the third box is for a video input from the bar. So whereas a client can hook up a laptop and display it to any of the TVs and projector in the building.

@@therockstudio You must have bid or gave them a quote ... Why not just charge them for a 16x16 and future proof the build?

@@watsonsmicrocomputers9297 In this instance, the clients had a definitive plan for their TV locations. They also had a finite budget. So I just gave them exactly what they needed, nothing superfluous (yes it was quoted, but it was also an addition after cabling had begun- and budgeting had ceased) Honestly, they only utilize 3 or 4 of the 8 inputs, and there is one spare output.

Hey Anthony! I am new to AV ( Network admin doing a favor job), and I was looking at this system for a very similar bar setup. I was hoping you could tell me if this system can handle zone control and switching for audio as well. I noticed that you had the dbx for audio, but I am wondering (hoping) that the brightlink can handle it too, and you just prefer the dbx. Thanks!!!
