Watching I realize that for a lot of people it isn’t worth over 30k. But if you’re into music really into music just like some people are into cars it’s a world of difference. For more everyday example, coke cola. For everyday people they can’t tell the difference between coke cola and Pepsi . For someone who loves coke(or Pepsi) they can tell the difference between it and it competitors, Mexican coke and coke from a fountain. So true for music. I had the fortune of going to such a setup as Linus did in Great Fall, Virginia. Listening to music was almost like you were in a personal performance just for you. It’s truly a treat to experience not just listen. That setup was even more expensive than this one we saw on the video. You have to pick your hobby and if it isn’t music that fine. This isn’t saying you can’t get great performance from a much cheaper setup but you really do have to experience it to understand the difference. Or maybe not because you might be in tears too

@jerryrichmond4707
Ай бұрын
I have the Sennheiser HD800S headphones and they are fabulous. They have a MSRP of $1,800 and I got mine for $1,600 about two years ago. Personally, I think it's absurd to spend $34,000 for this Abyss set-up, or the Sennheiser set-up that lists for $60,000. (I had to convince myself to splurge for the HD800S, but I have found that to be a reasonable expenditure and I am so glad I did.) Whatever differences there are, you would need a laboratory analysis and reports to "see" any difference, but who wants to see it on paper? I want to hear it! This is all so subjective, and most people can't hear the differences and nuances between high-end components anyway. The quality of the original recording, the mastering, the pressing/manufacturing of the SACD/CD, the amplifier, etc. All these things, plus the individual's hearing all play a part in the sound reproduction chain. No two people will "hear" a sample exactly the same. I can't that this Abyss set-up would make me want to chuck my HD800S headphones, and for $34,000, well, that's a lot of , but hey, if you've (not you in particular Spinal2111) got the money to burn, go for it. I'm not slighting these products or those who spend the money to attain these products. I just think there's a point we get to where anything beyond that, is a waste of money.
I skipped this video in 2019, but I've cycled back because I've fallen down the audiophile rabbit hole over the last 5 months (I unfortunately don't own nor can I afford a pair of Diana's yet.. haha). I'm so jealous of that gear now that I know what it is. The way Linus was handling some of the equipment while he was setting up was scary. I was so worried he was going to drop something! 🤣

can you help me understand the purpose of an amp when 99% of audiophile headphones are fully powered by most modern sources at comfortable volumes without an external amp?
@jarraa16533
Жыл бұрын
@@thebeatles9 Realistically imo you dont really need a dedicated amp. Ur right that pretty much all headphones are powered sufficiently by amps already built in devices used for everyday listening. Unless theres something wrong with your headphones and they have are abnormally high impedence (meaning more power used to run headphone) /low sensitivity (determines how loud the headphone can be when using said power) which is basically impossible. There probably are marginal improvements to sound somewhere somehow but imo i dont think its worth getting an expensive amp. I reckon percieved improvements are just placebo for the most part. Its also fun to turn the knobs on an external amp :))

After trying a TON of headphones (And running through music production studios) My favorite thus far are the sony wh1000xm(whatever gen) For listening purpose. Draw back - they don't hold your head very well. Not good for lying down or running. For sports it would the koss porta pro since i can't use ear buds (they just fall out of my ears no matter what size or shape) Drawback - the arc might pinch your hair if you have medium-short hair, and they hurt after using for several hours. I haven't found monitoring headphones that i truly like yet. Tried the different ranges of sennheiser and beyerdynamics.
I would love to listen through these.

I can never forget that experience of such amazing music.. I wonder how does this USD34K experience....
what songs were used for this test, I would like to try it out on my system.

It's super interesting to hear them talking about whether a pair of headphones is more "analytical" and "fatiguing" versus (presumably) more fun to listen to and character-adding. I absolutely do not understand any of it, the nicest audio gear I have is a pair of Bose noise cancelling headphones, but I'm pretty familiar with the photography universe and I guess the same kind of "character" evaluations can be found when it comes to lenses. A Canon RF 50mm f/1.2 might be almost clinically perfect ("analytical" in the same way, I'm guessing) but some people really want the character that only an M42-mount 50mm from the Sixties can give. Similarly a given sensor might have higher resolution and greater dynamic range but not the colors one craves, or a film might be almost perfect in a lab regarding color, grain, etc. but lack a character that the photographer desires. Seems like the same can go for headphones in a way, though perhaps not to that extreme of an extent
