    @@aidaaan_5083 It's not that simple. You can have all the money in the world, but if you don't spend it wisely, it means nothing. The Championship clubs getting promoted go for broke most of the time now, because if you can maintain in the PL for a few seasons, you can start spending big money. It's a double-edged sword, though, because if you go back down, the parachute payments help, but they're never enough to cover the costs of going all-out and failing in the PL. Look at a club like Huddersfield Town. They were in the PL 5 years ago. They just got relegated to League One. Sunderland is another example. Big club, relegated from the PL 7 years ago. The were in League One, but they came up to the Championship again, where they're pretty much just hanging around. Hell, Wigan won the FA Cup 11 years ago and got relegated the same season. They're in League One.

But if you take celtic or ramgers out of the scottish game and allow them to play in the premiership within a couple of years bith would be in the top 6 easiky. Bigger fanbases than most top half teams in the premiership. They would also bring a bit of passion which is definitely lacking in the premiership amd has been spoiled by the money. God, its quite simple - Anyone that understands economics could only conclude that if celtic were playing in that market - they would have every chance of being one of the strongest teams. You need to differentiate between the current team and the potential Celtic would have in that league / market. How would it be possible for us not to be strong and compete at the highest level, given: One of the biggest fans bases in world; a unique history and foundation which makes celtic much more than a football club to millions; estimated 800 official supporters clubs in 60 different countries worldwide; the fact that while playing in Scotland we still command one of the biggest attendances in UK (60 000 every week could currently extend to 80 000 if stadium extended potential for even more in PL); Currently 52 000 season ticket holders with thousands on waiting list; up there with the best atmospheres in Europe according to many world stars who have experienced CL nights at Celtic Park; a successful European history and famous club. It seems there could be some potential so do quite well and buy quite good players? - All the ingredients are obviously there. There are probably only 2 club (Man Utd and Liverpool) who are bigger in terms of history and fan base. It wouldn't guarantee success but would give us every chance. When having this debate - this should be the focus. Not the current team.

  • @BashingOnesBishop-nu3ec

    1) If you had one of the biggest fanbases in the world the SPL would already be massive. Your massive global fanbase would be pumping millions into the league via Sky who would fall overs themselves to promote you. France only have one big team (PSG) yet their league is far richer than the SPL. It's the 4th richest after England, Spain and Germany. 2) Every time I look at surveys to determine the clubs with the most fans, Celtic never appear 3) Your attendance figures are obviously bogus. Every home game shows a stadium littered with empty seats. Your fans only turn up o European and old firm games 4) You do not have a successful European history. You enter every season because you have no competition and since the European tournaments began in 1958 you have won one European trophy. 5) To give you an idea of scale it's estimated that Celtic have 9 million fans worldwide. Man Utd have an estimated 659 million.

  • @greigferguson9734

    @greigferguson9734

    23 күн бұрын

    @@BashingOnesBishop-nu3ec Sorry you are wrong 1. Celtic currently have 52000 season ticket holders and thousands on a waiting list. A simple google search estimates 800 official Celtic Supporters Clubs worldwide in 60 different countries. Very well supported in Ireland and USA due to clubs Irish roots. 2. The stats on fans you refer to are massively influenced by the marketisation of the EPL and other leagues, which Celtic are not in. Man Utd are massive regardless of course, but many clubs in EPL are not and live on the EPL TV money and marketisation. Celtic as a club dwarf many of these clubs. 3. The club has a massive worldwide support. Not many clubs would take 100 000 to the 2003 Europa final in Saville as an example. Still holds record for largest ever attendance in European cup match - over 140 000 against Leeds semi final 1970 - which we won (90 per cent Celtic fans). Not just the large worldwide support base, but pretty much unrivalled passion of our support is also significant re clubs being driven to success 4. Not many clubs have won the European cup, actually, so that is significant. We were strong 60’s 70’ early 80’s. We have been hindered in recent years due to a lack of potential to compete with the finances of other European leagues. However, we have a decent recent record against English teams, actually. 5. The reason for the lack of TV revenue is not due to Celtic not being a big club - that’s just rubbish - it’s the Scottish league more generally and small potential of the other clubs - small population of the country more broadly (EG France population about 65 mil - scotland about 5!) 6. Celtic would easily be one of the biggest clubs in the EPL with everything that comes with that league and with Celtic 7. It’s actually not something I’d be in favour of as the league is just a money-making machine, increasingly corrupt influences, and has completely lost its soul. An opinion of many of my English pals too. 8. The exact reason it will never happen anyway, is that EPL clubs are well aware that Celtic Dwarfs most clubs, so its a risk to many of them. In 2000s it was close. Wanted by the top few biggest English clubs - rejected by the rest for those reasons. No offence and its fine to disagree. All the best

    @@SlykillfulI don’t believe that to be honest. It’s hard to say where current team would finish. Probably about mid table. But as a club, of course there is the potential to be one of the top teams. The team in the early 2000s with Larsson would have been top 4 no doubt. Played Liverpool and Blackburn (who were 3rd at time) off the pitch away from home in the europa 2003. Consistently won in CL at Celtic park during that period. It’s probably also worth pointing out that the gap in the EPL between the quality of the top 6 teams and bottom 8 teams is absolutely enormous. Like 2 completely different leagues. The value of very average players at that bottom end of EPL is ridiculous. The only reason for them being massively overrated and overvalued is how that league is marketed. An example. Matt O’Reilly 23 danish international, absolute class - will likely leave us in summer / be sold. We’ll get about 30 mil for him. After inevitably just a few good first performances in EPL (if he goes there) he’ll be worth at least 60 and increasing

    Said for years. The English clubs are afraid to let Celtic and sevco into the English leagues, because they’d dominate in years after. Always found it hilarious they covered themselves up by allowing welsh clubs in because they knew the lack of danger or threat. You allow the Glasgow derby clubs in, and you can guarantee major investment. Fantastic stadiums, fantastic fan bases, fantastic club facilities. No brainer for investors if the clubs got the invite. So for anyone that says we wouldn’t compete, think about what would happen with the money your clubs receive and if Celtic got it. And stop thinking about how they would perform in the current state

    Hypothetical nonsense as you can't just 'join' the Premier League. There are at least 4 Championship clubs that have a higher squad value and wage bill than either old firm. So they'd have to be invited to join, at the very least, League 2 which is a level below the SPFL. They'd slso need to sell their entire teams first because the current setups wouldn't be sustainable in League 2. It would then probably take them 20 years to get close to the Premier League and even then their is no guarantees they'd be able to remain there.

Its a huge city so could be a rival but even still there is UTD, Newcastle etc. If Celtic had the same squad right now in the prem they will be battling relegation. The standard in Scotland is really bad....far inferior to the early 2000s with Larsson etc. Most of the league is league 2 quality. Celtic and Rangers, despite playing at a really fast pace, struggle to control the ball first touch. Very little composure. Passing more than 5 yards gets a "what a ball that was".

    🤣🤣🤣 let's face it Celtic and Rangers would be more likely to finish in the bottom five. The standard and ability of the defenders in the prem is just a lot higher. Sadly we have Edouard at Palace and he may well have been brilliant in the SPL but hes just not good enough in the prem🤷. If another Prem club comes in for Rodgers he'd be off again🤷

    Top 6 if they can bring all their pet rheferees. Every year they play in Europe they are already confirmed bottom of the group with games in hand😂
