100%. Smother, Roll right, jab and step to your right and come with the right hand. I’m 6’3 and competed at 141 so the amount of times little guys would try and move forward to come with the body shot is… every match I’ve ever had lol. It was my bread n butter vs southpaws. I would smother that left hand the whole 3 minute’s once I was past 10. If you can throw outta awkward positions- you gon be successful. Salute.

love it actually smothering and " smart" pushing is key and utilized by the best fighters to control a fighter and show ring generalship. also switching it up backing up to gain a different position, and then applying this within your style as well

This is an awesome drill, although I think I’d add in either a pivot to guard or a counter punch, before the reset, that way it’s still a snappy drill but you are also working in the reaction once you get the shoulder check

I've been doing that move for 6 years in my boxing fights against aggressive opponents, it's very effective if an extremely aggressive fighter wants to get on the inside, its like you keeping them of you and it kinda discourage them not to get on the inside it's far better if you implement good footwork too, a quick snapping jab not a lazy jab, cause aggressive fighters most the time never stop coming, and you gotta be on tip top conditioning.

Yeah, that's the shoulder bash, or jamming which is also found in Jeet Kune Do and other martial arts. Used to intercept and off balance someone who's punching and especially kicking.

@@Boxingrarefootage777 I got you, I do like the move I can see how it's effective as you crowd the opponent leaving them less room to get off the punches/put power in them at close range. Only two dudes I've seen get power with less room to punch is inoue and beterbiev but the majority of boxers would struggle to get that sort of torque up close.

Your coach steps in and says “Damn bro, you’re getting more aggressive than he is, you know we said to use it as a strategy, not your entire game plan. We already told you the same thing and that’ move is somewhat ambiguous as to if it’s legal or not… exactly why you can’t use that move over and over like we said lmao.” This is just drill, not an actual boxing match, that’s why they keep practicing the move over and over. Do any move over and over again in a match and your opponent will make the correct adjustments if they know how to… bottom line.
