It was major role reversal in Trent - Aman game. Aman sounding all mild outside was actually going for it in ring, while Trent major talker outside ring was fending. What Aman did great, was when he took some slight punches on face, he didn't stop or reset and just kept going in Trent's direction. Noob boxers get rattled to see person coming at them, Trent was almost shocked. Aman's coach I believe trained him for fool's mate (boxing version).

I think a better team format would be to have the teams free to discuss the moves. Each team would have their own isolation area where the other team can't hear them, but the audience would be able to hear their discussions. They decide the move however they choose, and then the captain goes over to the board to make the move. In terms of viewing content, it would be much better than taking turns because we actually get to hear from the players as to what they are thinking, and their personalities can come out. You could have really high level play as 3 GMs teamed up would be able to come up with ideas and spot each other's mistakes, but for viewers we wouldn't just have to listen to commentators discussing the game, we could actually hear the players directly. It would also be really interesting to see what forms a good team: eg 3 all rounders, or 3 players with different strengths, such as endgames/tactics/openings etc.

The Andrea vs Dina Fight was for me the highlight of the night. The back and forth where Andrea was clearly outboxing Dina and Dina was clearly outplaying Andrea was incredibly exciting to watch. There are not many sports whee you can a one-sided match but somehow both ways! The ref definitely had some questionable moments though. To me it first looked like he was breaking up a clinch but then changed his mind and was about to start a count, but the bell rang just as he started and he just let it go. But if he was calling count then he shouldn't even be counting, the match should just be over because of the 3 counts in one round rule. On the other hand there was definitely some stalling in a completely lost position from Andrea which I do believe could have been given a time penalty. And with as little time as Andrea already had a penalty would have meant that Dina could have forced Andrea to either get mated or flagged before the last round of boxing even started. No matter the result, when it came down to it this match was by FAR the best showcase of Chessboxing of the night in my opinion. The dichotomy of high level chess and boxing was so vividly on display when they both were in complete survival mode in either one or the other! They both put themselves out there on one of the biggest stages imaginable and put on one hell of a show! Massive respect to both of them!

Christian practicing kick boxing earlier , Caruana losing 15 pounds in his world chess championship match . Hikaru and Simon Williams fighting . Aman and a blonde Danish GM fighting rolling on the ground with Aman getting a black eye . Caruana wanting to fight Anish in chess boxing and the possibility of Magnus-Hikaru chess boxing match for 5 million dollars . Alexandra speaking Mandarin . Only thing the C² podcast guys and Botez sisters predictions proved inaccurate was about Aman's performance . Hope Caruana got the 150 dollars bet .

I felt like the contenders tried to emulate the trash talking of some boxing/MMA pros even after the fight. That I was a bit sad about... Idk maybe they just tried to reproduce what they've seen from the sport so far, but it would've been a better fit for a sports event to show respect for your opponent after the bout... Haven't seen it live though and only the fights between Andrea and Dina and Aman and Trent. Maybe the videos were cut short. But some word's from Aman along the lines of 'courageous performance would've loved to battle it out a bit longer' and Andrea aknowledging that Dina hung in there even though everybody saw how she demolished her in the boxing part would've been cool.

  • @juliel2488

Yeah most were respecful and wholesome when i watched live, i found it odd that the ones that trash talked most and had negativity was the top chess player matches, with AndreaxDina And TrentxAman. But they are the ones that in reality is most close with each other, especially Andrea and Dina, and they did talk nicely afterwards and became good friends again. But yeah I wished the chess players showed more respect cuz not everyone know how they are like. Dina is sarcastic and trash talk a lot for fun, but many don't know that so they assumed Dina hated Andrea and got what she deserved in the fights cuz of her trash talking.
