Cristian: Who's your second at Norway Chess? And why isn't it me? Fabi: It's some guy, but not you. Cristian:

The thing is women chess is still a new thing. Many people don't realize that women didn't even have suffrage less than 100 years ago. They weren't allowed to use the front gate of universities less than 50 years ago. Women have only had the chance to pursue a career (ANY CAREER) very recently. So there need to be incentives to encourage more women to participate. It is too early to judge whether women is good or not good at anything, since except for homemaker, there are significantly less women competing in every sport or career than men due to the constant lecture of 'listen to your husband','women belong in the kitchen'.

The problem is that they're giving equal prizes to significantly weaker players just because they're women. That's pretty unfair to me, there are men grandmasters that will probably never earn that much in a tournament despite being a lot stronger. And men don't have the option to play in an easier league and still earn money, that's a sexist privilege. Women have two times the opportunities of men just because of their gender. You have to earn your opportunities, not wait for them to fall over your head without deserving them. And call me sexist all you want, I'm just pointing out that the male equivalents of the Norway Chess' women section could never be in that spot. The open section is for everybody and should be the only one, especially in a discipline like chess where the only thing that counts is your mind.

It's the sponsor's choice. If someone wants to put up their own money to sponsor a tournament and they want half of their fund to go to women, all chess players should be alright with that. As Fabi said, more money in chess is good for everyone. And this is the first tournament where the prize funds are equal, it's not like having an even split is a rule that will be mandated going forward. At the end of the day, the only reason professional chess can be a career and professional connect four can't is because people or corporations choose to put up their money as prize funds for chess and they are in control of what they want to reward.

@@muhammadmousa4192 I wouldn't have a problem with that if there were male/female categories without the open section. And I understand that that's the sponsor's choice but since we have free speech I can criticise such a choice and think that it is absurd. Obviously someone else can think the other way and that's perfectly fine.

1:36:10 is Fabi accusing his opponent of cheating? I really hope not. D5 is so natural, and I there’s no way his opponent would’ve gone nuts like that with Nf4 if he was looking at the engine evaluation.

If you tutor children or adults and you fill up the week, you should be able to afford rent in a suburb. If you win tournaments, you shouldn't rely on that to support yourself or a family.

Are they just doing push-ups to do push-ups? Like chess boxing you can win by checkmate or knockout. Is there a way to win by having more pushups?

Okay so after watching this podcast pretty regularly for awhile now it seems like Fabi has a general style of how he likes to prepare for tournaments and how to recover after tournaments are done in the sense that he balances in depth prep with the knowledge that while it frequently goes out the window it is necessary because you have it ready when it actually does come in handy while not stressing himself out too much. Man I can't wait for the episode in the future whenever it may come, when Christian asks him how he prepared and rested after some tournaments and he goes "So I decided to try something new and go streaking at 2am every morning before my games all through the streets near my hotel and continue on until I see a uniformed police officer upon which I shoot him in both his eyes with the pepper spray I stole from a large retail chain sometime in the past. Then after the tournament is over I can rest easy regardless of how I played because the look on those pigs faces crying in pain all blind and loudly is like chicken soup for my soul. And I don't look stupid carrying pepper spray in my hand while I'm running either because everyone I've encountered thus far was so overcome with ecstasy at the realization that they were lucky enough to ever cross paths with Fabiano C. that they just gazed adoringly and saluted me as I jogged on by, except for the officers who just gazed adoringly without the wave as I came to a stop 3 feet in front of them so that I had no chance of missing as I unleashed Tabasco into their retinas." Okay so he might not say that verbatim but trust me when I say that one of these times here his response to Chirillas question about prep and recovery is going to be unlike anything that we or even you tube has ever seen before and I can only hope I'm lucky enough to catch it on the livestream!
