Real talk, he doesn't have to change his ways, true. However, she doesn't have to get used to it. Who we date, reflects us. Some sistahs aren't seeing themselves, dating a cat with dreads, or twist or locks or whatever they call them. Just like, many guys will stop dating a chic, if she shaved her head to a boyish haircut. She may no longer, be a reflection, of what he desires and that's his right..

I am a white mother of a biracial son. He has been growing his hair for years. It’s really long and he loves to wear it in an Afro style. So he stopped wearing his sleep cap and wanted a bonnet so his hair didn’t get “flat”. I recently posted a picture of him and I with our matching bonnets. I was told I was setting him up for failure in the black community. Dragged in the comments. I don’t know why your video popped up in my feed. But I am glad that it did. Thanks for sharing this information. I will look into getting him a silk pillow case as well. ❤

I have an Afro (I pick it out), and I don’t use a bonnet because my hair is so long and my bonnet is so small that it compacts my hair so much that it makes it harder to pick out in the morning. When my hair is shorter tho it does help out a lot but even then, I just sleep with a satin sheets including my pillow case. I still wake up with a flat Afro 😂 but I believe the satin sheets have helped out with less hair breakage (and I been takin care of my hair a lot more too).

I'm trying a bonnet for my two strand twist the twist allow you easier apply oil and it stays in because it not as tight as cornrows plus all the satin durag I bought don't keep the oils in. My pillow tend to he a mess with oils in the morning I'm trying a bonnet design for oils and I would see how it works.

I have a completely different hair texture to you (I'm a 2a, maybe 2b). I was really interested in your take on these. I wear a satin sleep cap and a silk pillowcase. I think I would struggle with a durag, as I toss and turn a very great deal during my sleep and it wouldn't stay in place. Thank you for posting - I enjoyed it very much

If you're the type of person that will wake up without your bonnet, scarf, or durag on top of your head I recommend getting silk pillowcases. It might not save your hairstyle but it will at least stop breakage. Edit: It looks like you already spoke on it. 👌🏽

So to confirm, (sorry I’m very undeducated😅) for curls the satin or silk pillow case is best? I’m drawing a comic and the main character is black (I am not ;P) and I want to make sure I can draw her taking care of her hair properly! She usually leaves her hair down in natural curls vs braids or other styles. So yeah any hair care advice would be very much appreciated! :)

Yo bro i have a problem I been having my braids for 1 mouths but when I took them out I see that my hair was growing and that I have a lot of hair I was truly happy of my big ass afro and the hair that I gained but when I took them out by washing my hair I seen that I was losing too many hair due the dryness of my hair after the 1 mouth with my braids I lowkey mad I came back to the same height of hair with the same mini Afro I know that when do protective style we can lose a lot of because we don’t wash them but my question is should I keep my braid for 1weeks or 2 weeks to gain growth and lose less hairs and avoid to comeback to the same root? 🧐

Yeah bro that’s just dead hair , my mom tells me that every time I was my hair cuz I think I’m loosing hair but I’m not . When you have braids in you aren’t getting rid of dead hair cuz it’s braided . so when you take it out and wash it all that dead hair will come out and your hair will be healthy . So it’s a good thing when you have that dead hair come out .
