    I had a hairstylist that started at the roots w/ no conditioner or water or nothing. She said, "This is how we do it in Africa," as tears rolled down my face and I squirmed in pain.

  • @sonte.theFoodie

    @sonte.theFoodie

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@blair5475 @Blair well, I reccomend a wide tooth comb without those lines in the teeth. The smooth seamless plastic ones. I got a lot from the beauty supply for cheap. And do you comb wet or dry? My hair is super thick and also type 4 with small spiral curls that shrink a lot, I used to comb when damp or wet. But lately I've been finger detangling when wet, stretching it out with braids or twists and then combing when dry, but gently. I treat my hair like its silk ❤ and work my way from the bottom. I really suggest experimenting and finding out how wet, or dry you like you hair to be, and definitely how much force you use. My mom used to have a heavy hand, but let me tell you, she didn't need it. 😂 Just be patient with your hair and break it down in smaller sections if need be. Not saying it's your fault tho, some combs are a joke 😁 😁 Hope it helped

    @@sonte.theFoodie what lines in the teeth? Do you have a picture or a link? By the way, I'm a guy so I'm not really clued about haircare. Before I started growing my hair, I used to do the sponge curl hairstyle, so whenever I shampoo my hair, it start curling up and twisting again. I try to comb wet but even then, it still pulls my hair out, and hard to comb. Even the girls at salon that comb for me tell me their hands hurt with my hair, and that they've never seen anything like it before.

    Nah, I detangle using my hand first but he's right about starting at the bottom and then working up to the roots. It's also best to pull away frmo your hair than downwards, gives your hair more time and chance to properly detangle hidden hair and then near the end when my hands run smoothly through, I then use the comb. Any knot you can sperate with hands insteading of pulling or yanking or breaking them.

    *Man I been growing mine for a year now and my fro is so stubborn to deal with that I'm considering a perm or relaxer to make it easier to comb witout ripping my hair. At the same time I don't wanna ruin the overall health of my hair with a perm so I just continue ripping it out when I comb it. I only comb it while it's wet after shower and soaked in hawian silky conditioner but it always rips from being so tangled.*
