I saw Frank Marino in 74, when he was on tour with Johnny Winter. He was blistering with a unique style. Then again in mid 80's when he was promoting his Full Circle LP. If anyone hasn't heard "Breakin' Away", I recommend it. Frank's playing is mesmerizing and tasteful. He's in a elite class the likes of Ray Gomez, John McLaughlin, Al Di Meola, and Gary Moore. And never stale. That's what I like about Frank, truly exciting playing and you still don't know where he's going next. He's in bad health. I wish him a recovery.

I saw him in '75 at Winterland. He opened for Black Sabbath. I was SO pumped about seeing Sabbath. After watching Frank in action, Black Sabbath was anti-climatic. BS was good but Frank was better.
Frank is by far one of the best guitar players to ever live!!!...🤙😎🤘

Just watching and listening to Frank in the background during this brief interview with 3 other guitar legends absolutely revs me up!! Thank you Frank! You are awesome!!!
I've been listening to Frank Marino for about 45 years. His performance at Cal Jam II blew me away. I recently learned he has retired due to a debilitating medical condition. This is sad news, indeed. I wish him well.
Frank is easily up there with Vanhalen Hendrix Blackmore and many others. I saw him in 1979 and he was amazing! So underrated!

I agree. That Agora performance is beyond beyond.
I find it so funny that Johnny Winter's ultimate compliment to another guitarist is "he's a real good player". He says that even when he tells a story about people referring to himself. I heard him say that the biggest compliment he can hear is if a fan comes up to him after a show and says "we all had fun tonight, you're a real good player". FMarino is a real good player for sure.

Love Johnny, love Frank.
I worked Security for Frank in Houston and met him that night he played purple haze for the live record we were stomping our feet so hard I thought the place was gonna cave in. When he came out and did an encore it was I believe electric reflections of war into purple haze and he ran out across the stage RUNNING IN PLATFORM BOOTS DOWN THE FUCKING PEDAL BOARD STOMPING ON THE PEDALS ON THE WAY OUT HE HAD 3 OR 4 HUGE PEDAL BOARDS CHAINED UP DAISY CHAINED EVERYTHING...Ran out center stage and blew everybodies shit away... That was a fucking rock show and it was LOOOOOOOOOOOOOUD the crowd reaction after Purple Haze was deafening We did not wanna let him leave that night GREAT SHOW .... Love you Frank you influenced my playing like you have no idea.. Pat Travers ive also met and hung out with in Houston GREAT HUMAN BEING ALSO WORE THOSE RECORDS OUT IM GONNA CRANK THE LIVE RECORD NOW... BLOW THE RATS OUT OF THIS SHIT HOLE IM LIVING IN NOW. Best guitar Player I Ever Heard since the 70s 🎶🎶☮️☮️ Frank 💥💥💥
I only discovered Frank a few years ago even though I had heard of Mahogany Rush growing up. I felt shorted like I'd missed a lifetime of genius. The man is absolutely brilliant on guitar and vocally. One of my all-time favorites.
The endorsement from Johnny is the best! So direct and honest. Sure do miss Johnny!

Awesome Paul and jimmy?
Really plays from the soul. His way or the highway and have to really respect that considering the ups and downs that can create in a career. But as such a master never even slowed him down.
Shortly after Jimi left us guys like Frank Marino & Robin Trower picked up the reigns as guitar gods in my world during my high school years & beyond. And although I never got to see Hendrix play live, I was at least fortunate enough to see both Frank & Robin perform & they did not disappoint. I'm 65 years old now & their music means as much to me now as it did then, if not more so. I'm grateful to them both for all the wonderful music & for making the world a little bit better place because of it.

Frank!!!
A local hero for a boy like me, a Montrealer who grew up on the music of the blues rock masters. Had the 45 of Buddy. Saw Johnny Winters twice, I wore out my Hendrix Live at Monterey album and visited his grave in Seattle. Pat Travers is another great blues rock master. J.B. is carrying the torch too.
Been a fan since early 70”s wore his live album out.... also Johnny Winter 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Pat travers is a legend as well, caught one of his guitar picks. It sits with the one l caught from bonamassa. Marino is a Canadian treasure.
Frank, you are the only one where the band leaves the stage for an extended guitar solo! You have the most endurance of any guitar player I have ever seen live. I hope to catch you in the New York area soon. God Bless!

I've always thought that Pat, Johnny and Frank were the most underrated guitar players ever. Saw Frank Marino and Pat Travers in the 80's. Working on Talkin Bout A Feeling on the guitar now
I've seen all but Joe... Frank is the Master, seen him many times, I saw Pat back during Settin' It Straight, that album got me hooked! I love the blues....
Love You Frank. How about a new album and a Tour.
Frank and Pat are about the same age.. I'm glad that they're both still able to tour.. I saw pat down here in Florida not too long ago

Sorry, but Frank had a career ending illness,,in his own words..he was planning over a hundred shows and something really bad happened. Brakes my heart.
A truly outstanding guitarist / producer / writer / artist ... I saw him with Mahogany Rush in 1981 at Port Vale FC ( one day festival in the UK ) ... Absolutely phenomenal !
frank what can anyone say but praise, a great player very underated, he deserved much more than was given, wishing frank all the best
i met frank 2x ... in the 1980s.. he was so nice to me... a great guitar player
I met frank in the 90s he was there to check out the place where he was playing the next night and we were the band that was playing .He was super nice and he sat down and talked with me for a long time I'm not stupid I just handed him a guitar and let him continue to talk about whatever he wanted. I watched that man talk and play anything and everything it was one of the best experiences of my life . Not because I learned all this stuff but I learned how your supposed to carry yourself . I've always considered my self a better than average guitar player but that night I could've easily sat and watched him with out ever asking a question or telling him I play as well . He told us a story about when he got asked to do a tour in 1981. He said he woke up his brother and said get up we're going on tour and your playing bass got a lot to learn out first show is in five days. His brother didn't even have a bass and played guitar left handed so first thing frank did was took the bass he had and flipped over the strings and told him here learn this .His feel and technical ability is second to none ...My god he's a monster ...god bless you frank
This Man is a living legend. He absolutely tore my head off with every album and every show.👑🎸🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Love his music! Been listening since the day I heard the FM & MR Live album in 1978! 👍 I recently ordered Live at the Agora Theater. Frank deserves every penny from this gem of a release! I can't wait to get it and read the book! Long Live Rock & Roll and cheers to Frank Marino!

I was lucky enough to see Frank one time opening for humble pie in Sacramento in 1979. I had tickets one other time for a show that got cancelled when he was opening for Rick Derringer.

This 3 concert set is absolutely a must have, only thing that could have been better, getting to be there live!
Mahogany Rush at the California Jam 1978 Ontario Speedway. Now the Ontario Airport. I was 15 and my uncle lived off Holt Blvd. I could hear the bands at night . Also broadcast on TV awesome days. Great guitarist and band.
NO ONE played with any more FIRE than Frank did - NO ONE!
Frank was influenced by Johnny , you can hear Johnny Style at 0:51 , imitating Johnny's slide
Most older guitar players, and some of the younger ones who've studied the music from the late 70's & early 80's love & admire Frank, but otherwise he's extremely underrated in the music world generally speaking. He deserves FAR MORE credit & accolades than he's gotten.
Oh, that's ok I'm doing dishes on mother's day and listening to the Juggernaut album and I must say I got some friggin soap flyin and some damn dishes washed. Man have things changed. In my teen years I just hung out with friends smoked pot and listen to Frank Marino
frank Marino is AWESOME....hes the most underrated of all the big guitarist....ROCK ON FRANK!!!!!😎😎😎😎😎🎸🎸🎸🎸⚡⚡⚡⚡🔥🔥🔥
Frank takes everything to a new level, ALWAYS..... a great inspiration and true artist.
Excellent and always a fan!
Frank was a beast and still is!!!!!!
He's so much power and inspiration! And he's still using that modded Marshall he got from Tommy Folkesson long ago, it's to the right of the bass player; i recognize Tommys nameplate below the Marshall sign.
Fastest guitar playing I've ever seen. That includes Al Dimeola and Mahavishnu and many others. Great rock and blues.
gee I can't hear the comments!!
Candian Legend for all guitar players.

I'm a proud owner of this collection 👍🏻
Frank M was such a huge eye-opener when I first heard him play around 1980/1981... Never heard thát sound and technique before! And to be frank (yep, pun intended) I never have since. Instantly recognisable - both as a guitarist and as a singer! I hope you're well, Frank!! Thanks so much! 😎🎸👍

PREMIER SPECTACLE en 1972 A L'aréna Saint-Léonard Mahogany Rush Maxoom grandiose et inoubliable .38 ans lus tard tout aussi performant ...
I've seen some of the best guitarists of the past fifty years and Marino is right up there with the very best of the best. I am devastated that he is "retiring" from live performance.
Pat travers and Frank Marino, my fav..
Frank Marino is Magnificent Port Vale 81✌
Fauxing the slide with the whammy! Genius
Wow!
I was fortunate enough to see Frank with mahogany rush a couple times late 70s early 80s One-time in Louisville.. I think Frank open the show with mahogany rush along with Mother's Finest, Angel.. the babies and the houndz. For 6 bucks
Frank Marino is one of the greatest of ALL TIMES , one single note from him worth MUCH MORE than the USELESS BORING shredders.
Goodness gracious! Frank is a sight behold! Can anyone please tell what song he is playing on this video? Thank you so much!
I had a mixed tape in my teens and there were three tracks on it by Frank. Strange Dreams, Midnight Highway and Juggernaut. I took me a few years to figure out who it was. Those first two still blow me away, but I could never get any if my buddies into Frank Marino. He should have been way bigger.
I think I needs me a copy of that there dvd 📀
So sad the Frank is hurting now. I hope he recovers.
I refer to Frank Marino as the Unknown Soldier of Blues Rock. The guy is a beast guitarists, but for whatever reason never got his due.
Chuck Norris asked Frank to teach him how to play guitar.
Absolute disgrace that Frank has never received the recognition he deserves.
With Alvin Lee best of the best
I remember seeing Frank Marino on Don Kirscners rock concert, he was the ultimate in hippie cool.
Wow coming from those 3 you can bet its true brotha.
Need to get the likes of Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton and Joe Satriani to speak on Frank's behalf...now that would be a resume! I mean, I sure do not need to be convinced...I know how good this guy is...have seen him 8 times and I am a hundred miles from the nearest city he would play...so I know his genius...but if he got those 3 respected musicians...along with the great Johnny Winter...now that would be something...

Pat Travers once said "I have no compunctions about blowing him offfstage" He thought he was better than Frank. No way. I saw Pat Travers open up for Ritchie Blackmores Rainbow and Ritchie was way better than Pat Travers. And Frank is miles beyond that.
