I saw Frank Marino in 74, when he was on tour with Johnny Winter. He was blistering with a unique style. Then again in mid 80's when he was promoting his Full Circle LP. If anyone hasn't heard "Breakin' Away", I recommend it. Frank's playing is mesmerizing and tasteful. He's in a elite class the likes of Ray Gomez, John McLaughlin, Al Di Meola, and Gary Moore. And never stale. That's what I like about Frank, truly exciting playing and you still don't know where he's going next. He's in bad health. I wish him a recovery.

I saw him in '75 at Winterland. He opened for Black Sabbath. I was SO pumped about seeing Sabbath. After watching Frank in action, Black Sabbath was anti-climatic. BS was good but Frank was better.

I find it so funny that Johnny Winter's ultimate compliment to another guitarist is "he's a real good player". He says that even when he tells a story about people referring to himself. I heard him say that the biggest compliment he can hear is if a fan comes up to him after a show and says "we all had fun tonight, you're a real good player". FMarino is a real good player for sure.

I worked Security for Frank in Houston and met him that night he played purple haze for the live record we were stomping our feet so hard I thought the place was gonna cave in. When he came out and did an encore it was I believe electric reflections of war into purple haze and he ran out across the stage RUNNING IN PLATFORM BOOTS DOWN THE FUCKING PEDAL BOARD STOMPING ON THE PEDALS ON THE WAY OUT HE HAD 3 OR 4 HUGE PEDAL BOARDS CHAINED UP DAISY CHAINED EVERYTHING...Ran out center stage and blew everybodies shit away... That was a fucking rock show and it was LOOOOOOOOOOOOOUD the crowd reaction after Purple Haze was deafening We did not wanna let him leave that night GREAT SHOW .... Love you Frank you influenced my playing like you have no idea.. Pat Travers ive also met and hung out with in Houston GREAT HUMAN BEING ALSO WORE THOSE RECORDS OUT IM GONNA CRANK THE LIVE RECORD NOW... BLOW THE RATS OUT OF THIS SHIT HOLE IM LIVING IN NOW. Shortly after Jimi left us guys like Frank Marino & Robin Trower picked up the reigns as guitar gods in my world during my high school years & beyond. And although I never got to see Hendrix play live, I was at least fortunate enough to see both Frank & Robin perform & they did not disappoint. I'm 65 years old now & their music means as much to me now as it did then, if not more so. I'm grateful to them both for all the wonderful music & for making the world a little bit better place because of it.

I met frank in the 90s he was there to check out the place where he was playing the next night and we were the band that was playing .He was super nice and he sat down and talked with me for a long time I'm not stupid I just handed him a guitar and let him continue to talk about whatever he wanted. I watched that man talk and play anything and everything it was one of the best experiences of my life . Not because I learned all this stuff but I learned how your supposed to carry yourself . I've always considered my self a better than average guitar player but that night I could've easily sat and watched him with out ever asking a question or telling him I play as well . He told us a story about when he got asked to do a tour in 1981. He said he woke up his brother and said get up we're going on tour and your playing bass got a lot to learn out first show is in five days. His brother didn't even have a bass and played guitar left handed so first thing frank did was took the bass he had and flipped over the strings and told him here learn this .His feel and technical ability is second to none ...My god he's a monster ...god bless you frank

0:09-0:19 What is that song? I'm driving myself nuts to find it. Joe B has a way of highlighting these unsung guitar heroes and now I'm spotify binging Frank Marino.

I'm a big fan of both Frank and Rory. Have been for years but never got to see either of them. What a great night to see them both!!! Envious.

I've been recommending Frank Marino to guitar enthusiasts for years on YT but nobody seems to want to listen to him so I stopped. Weird.

Pat Travers once said "I have no compunctions about blowing him offfstage" He thought he was better than Frank. No way. I saw Pat Travers open up for Ritchie Blackmores Rainbow and Ritchie was way better than Pat Travers. And Frank is miles beyond that.

mstathakis; better than that, is if ppl would listen to his advice and live life like Frank does, the world would be a much better and peaceful place. Mr. Marino is truly good people!
