I'm not sure if you'll see this, Frank, but we're all still praying and pulling for you. I haven't found any information stating that you are back out touring after your diagnosis and retirement announcement, but I hope that you are able to continue your art. As a fan, thank you for all of the amazing records and performances. As a fellow musician, I wanted to say thank you for setting the bar so high, and being such an inspiration to myself and millions of others around the world. You pushed us all to be better just by releasing the music you did. One of the greatest improvisers to ever pick up the instrument! Here's to you, Mr. Frank Marino! 🍻

I was in Hawaii camping on north shore, and I cranked this tune out while the Dat was ending to a incredible surf day. All the local Hawaiians come up to me and wanted to know this song. They were blown away by it, I was treated to killer hawaiian BBQ, and was treated like a king from them for showing them Frank "Guitar God" Marino....true story!

Frank, no one ever talks about your vocals... this is so heartfelt and emotional but masculine and full of force. Not many people can pull that off. Your playing is stellar, and this is my favorite track and version... but your voice man... gets better with age

This is probably my favourite video on KZread. I've long considered Frank a musical genius (since the 70s, in fact) and here he demonstrates his innate talent for songwriting, this is such a beautiful song, his ineffable sense of melody, his musicianship... this just has everything. Love it.

Bummer With sorrow I am forced to announce my immediate retirement from touring, and possibly all things related to continuing my career, due to an unexpected and debilitating medical condition which makes it impossible for me to tour. I want to thank all the people who supported me all of the last half-century. I know that many were looking forward to seeing us play this fall and I was looking forward to getting out again and doing more shows, but it now appears that in the absence of a miraculous recovery, my Concert DVD (Live at the Agora) will constitute the last show I will ever have played. I ask any that are believers to include me in their prayers. - Frank Marino

@DFV Louderilk He said last summer he has an "unexpected and debilitating medical condition." Marino fans are likely to know more by now. I honestly haven't been following any additional news. Sad to hear, though.

@DFV Louderilk He rescheduled the tour for 2021, before announcing his retirement on June 30, 2021, due to adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder). "I’ve got 50% movement in the arm," he said in 2012. "Although I have movement, I haven’t lost the pain. I’m in constant pain 24/7."

@@majoneski ...the..shoulder condition..was brought about from spending..hundreds of hours in the studio...re-doing missing drum parts that through a tech recording fault had gone missing from..the Agora Theatre DVD.So the ..DVD...truly was a labour of. love.This is the story as far as I’m aware.May the Lord Have Mercy on Frank’s shoulder pain...and Bless him with the Grace of Holy Peace.Amen.

Always love Frank's music. I'm 62 and loved his stuff at 17! The MOST UNDERRATED guitarist!

I can’t believe there isn’t 10Million subscriber’s to Frank! There aren’t many guitarist that can pull that off. The melodic clean sound that jazz players have and the mood to die for. I commented if Under rated is ever gonna be used on Y/T It’s this guy. He’s a beast. I think part of the problem is his bands name. Rush- Mahogany Rush at 18 and stoned to the bone, who knew.lol.

Soul is indeed what makes music great, but fast scale runs mean a bit more than NOTHING. [EDIT: I should add that if you told a concert violinist or pianist that fast scale runs meant nothing as they prepared to perform Paganini or Chopin, they'd look at you as if you were a complete idiot - which, in that case at least, would be entirely justified.]

It's good to have the skill of anything you would like to do on the guitar. Fast runs have a place and are fun... if you can do them. They can be very melodic and soulful. Getting there is another story.

Love the transition from sweet sad blues to optimistic jazz improv. I am an older guy and have loved Frank's music for years.

All i can say is thank God for Frank Marino. Growing up in the 70's i was lucky to see Frank a few times, once at Madison Square Garden opening up for Kansas, another time with Aerosmith, and once with Pat Travers. Not only is his feel incredible and playing inspirational, but vocals are out of this world. Hopefully God will shine down on you Frank, and we will see or hear you play again !!!!

Saw Frank and Mahogany Rush back in his heyday...couldn't hear for 3 days. I'd do it again.

How did I get to 48 without hearing of this guy? First time I meet him, he melts my face clean off!!!

So great to hear a fine guitarist play melodic lines instead of shred-head and overdone blues riffs. Definitely an underrated guitarist !!!! Play on Frank !!

I heard Frank for the first time back in 1973, from the Child of the Novelty album, New Rock and Roll. My older brother had that album. He had a big stereo from Radio Shack. I was 9 years old when I heard that song. The next song I heard was a few years later. From Mahogany Rush IV. It was Dragonfly. CHOM FM in Montreal. My older brother bought that album, too. That's when I really perked up to Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush. Then I bought that live album from '78. Then Tales of the Unexpected in '79. Long story short ... Frank's music crosses generations. Fast forward forty years. I have 2 outta 4 sons that play guitar. Both of those sons absolutely love Franks music! One of my boys and his band won the "Battle of the Bands" competition in Atlanta when he was 18 and 19 back in 2007 or '08. The moderator asked him (my son), Who were your greatest influences? My son said something like, "Oh, damn. Well, def Frank Marino". And then somebody in the audience shouted, Yeah!! And then I have my youngest son who picked up the guitar in 2016 or 17. He likes more jazzy n bluesy music. He doesn't like hard rock. So, I played It's Begun to Rain from the original album (IV) and he absolutely loved it! He loved Dragonfly, too. So, we started bantering about who is the most well-rounded? Who can play so many genres of music flawlessly? Who makes you feel the most comfortable and at ease at home? Who makes you feel the most comfortable in your skin? Which guitarist do you most identify with? Who would you sound like if you could play guitar on that level? Who's lyrics gave you goosebumps and inspired you the most? Based on all our music interests, it came down to 3. Jimmie Page and (Zeppelin), David Gilmour, and Frank Marino. We eliminated so many off that list. Blues artists, rock, jazz. Lots. Gone! Eric Johnson held in for a while. Why not? He's tight. It was hard to decide, obviously. Then we thought, These sounds and techniques from these bands, Zep, Floyd, and Mahogany are very disparate. So it's unfair to compare one against the other. So back to the original questions. Who is the most well-rounded? Who makes you comfortable at home and in your own skin? Who do you most identify with as a guitarist, and who would you sound like if you played on that level? Who's lyrics inspired you and gave you goosebumps? 2 of 3 of us said, Frank Marino. The other said, David Gilmour. But, he said, "It's just a difference in taste. They all taste different. This is an unfair comparison: Which Is Best? It's just a matter of taste." Ok, so which tastes best? Which would you aspire to? We three all said, "Frank", at the same time! Hahaha! So there!! How d'ya like them apples? True story!

Frank still is an awesome artist, probably one of the most talented dude’s ever, voice is as good as ever and guitar, well you’re listening so you know what level he is. Fantabulous

The most underrated gutarist,singer,songwriter, guitar toneist,.know body has his style swag, perfectionist his musicians he hand picks.he knows his pedals,father, family man to walk the face of the earth.....and most of all so Humble....I hope I didn't leave anything out.

Frank stands out in the front row with the best of them no question.

Frank, our gang would always go to the Eastown Theater at Harper & Van Dyke In Detroit to see you regardless of who else was on the bill. Every time was absolutely amazing!

A friend turned me onto Frank Marino and Robin Trower back in the 80's. I have loved that 70's style and sound ever since. I have a great collection of Marino's music. As a guitarist I have been trying to recreate that style and sound. Not so easy, close but not the same.❤‍🩹❤‍🩹

What a wonderful, multifaceted guitarist. It is his “swing” in his phrasing that has always attracted me to his music. Frank is a rocker with the heart of a jazz player. Kudos, Frank.

True Masterpiece 😊. Last time I saw Frank play live was about 16-17 years ago ( maybe off by a year or so ) when he played at a little club here in San Diego called Brick by Brick …. That was Epic , and a true “ Thing to check off on my Bucket list “ as I’ve been a huge fan since around 1972 or ‘73 when I first was introduced to his music. Wishing you well buddy , you have been an incredible inspiration. 👍

I remember Frank from Boucherville high school in late sixties. He was a respected hard working artist back then. Always melodic. That SG with single pickups sounds real good🎯

@@majortwang6211 He took some of those mods from John Cippollina ( Quicksilver Messenger service ) who usually tweaked the heck out of his SGs & they always sounded great. i have a 74 SG Standard with the Walnut finish but as a stock freak I've left it alone . Still sounds great after all these years. Care to hear it i will put a link up to an audio composition i did in 74 but didn't record it till 87 and on a TEAC 4 Track Reel To Reel. The SG was used for the rhythm track but you can hear how tight it is . Many slam Gibson these days but i still love mine & well the new ones can be either way ,you just have to play them till you find the right one . Please leave me a comment on my page or post if you wish . @@jameygray was in Ohio near Cleveland. Not sure but I believe it might have been at a local college. We had snuck in an open back door and were hiding under the rows of seats. It was in a theater setting. An auditorium for presentations lectures and such. Oh yeah… and we were pretty stoned to boot! Sorry but that’s all I can recall. Major loss of brain cells since then! Great show though.

Will never forget 1977 Cobo Hall Detroit MI, featuring Kansas, Mother's Finest and head liner Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush. Marino is up there on the guitar Mt Rushmore with Page, Clapton, Hendrix. But that's just my humble opinion. Continue to heal up and Stay Groovy

Word in 70s was Grank was just a regular guy, not a player at all. Took an acid trip and came back pla GG ing like this full blown. Course, i always took it with a grain of salt. But

No one can listen and watch this video and say God doesn't exist. The sheer incredible talent. The 70's had Frank Marino, Ronnie Montrose, Robin Trower, Pat Travers, and so many more. I saw Frank Marino once. The ability of these wonderful guitar players to make a crowd of 10k young partying people listen in silence is a tribute to their ability. To mesmerize the lucky ones hearing and observing it. Damn, I miss it. What a time it was.

I was so lucky to have seen both Ronnie and Pat appearing at a small venue in Tacoma. They performed within two or three months of each other. I was amazed that the owner of this club , which at one time was a Flakey Jake's hamburger place, got these superstars to play there. They were two of the best concerts I've ever been to. It wasn't too long after that I heard of Ronnie's passing. God bless the greats.

God doesn't exist. Great guitar players do. Here is some proof.

Frank Marino is scorched Earth guitar at its best. I first heard his stuff in 75. I’ve never seen him live. But I’ve always known he is as respected as Hendrix Moore Halen Winter Page Clapton Beck Vaughn Montrose and all the fathers of progressive guitar. And that’s what it comes down to - respect then and now. Thanks Frank!!

I saw him live in like1977... I had great seats and got his whole show up close..great guitarist..frank Marino and mohagony rush...

Fantatstic, It's just a joy seeing Frank play.

Love frank marino from the first time i ever heard him in the 70’s ,by far the world’s greatest guitarist.thank you dear god above for giving the world such a special talent.all prayers to you frank,god bless!!!

I love the contrast of weight and melody in his soloing; 70’s rock becomes jazz. Great playing, beautiful song.

LOVED Frank's band Mahogany Rush back in the 70's!! "Norwegian Wood" was one of my favorites!!

Have always loved Frank from the first time I heard him back in the late 70s. That live album smoked.

I'm ashamed to say I haven't thought about Frank in years. This is a beautiful reminder of what a great talenty is, time to pull out some old albums and have a little listening party

That solo brought a tear to my eye. I pointed to the phone and yelled "now that's tasty!" as he launched into the solo. Frank, I wish nothing but the best for you. Whatever it is you're battling, I truly hope you are able to overcome it. ❤️

At age 63 I have a very short list of artists I would bother to see again. Frank is way up on that list. Saw him up close in Dallas. My teenage son and I were blown away.

This is SPECTACULAR !!! 😃 Frank sure knows how to incorporate cool Jazz lines within his Blues/Rock playing. I love the way this particular SG (w/3 single-coil pickups) sounds just like a Strat to my ears. He really is the Best/Smoothest etc.

I bought this DVD and had it autographed all for a hundred bucks you can't beat that.

This is just beautiful, many influences from Hendrix to jazz. I really regret that I never saw Frank live as I am a huge fan. I have the dvd of Live at Agora and in part this partly makes up for it. Apart from being one of the greatest guitarists ever to have graced the planet, his vocals are a perfect fit for his songs.

He is without a doubt one of the greatest live performers ever. A gifted fabulous musician!

Highly recommend Live at the Agora where this came from. Best 6 hours of guitar mastery you will ever see.

Great guitar work...that talks to you..wow.. No gimmicks, just pure original music... Could listen to this style for hours...never bored...👍👍🇬🇧
