What I noticed about this video is that they (Host, Frank and the audience) WERE ABLE TO HAVE A THOUGHTFUL RESPECTFUL DISCUSSION. It was shocking actually. They listened to each other. They thought deeply and in a nuanced way about their ideas and how to express them. I miss the great old days. Alot. I

I remember when the Juggernaut album came out. I was so excited to hear new material by FM. I'd already bought everything I could find by FM in my local record shop which wasn't that much in the UK at that time. I've still got all those vinyl records and I still play them. Frank never had that much air time on the radio here in England. I've even requested FM stuff to be played on request shows that specialise in rock music but they never play any. It's a weired situation that such a talented and down to earth nice guy gets overlooked like this. Well done Frank for not selling out like some of the other acts. Many people feel he's a legend and I count myself among them.

He fought his own battles with the suits in the recording industry..... Such a shame Mahogany Rush never got airtime on radio. I saw them a few times and Frank Marino is a GREAT guitar player. Frank came thru Chicago 3 times on the back of Juggernaut. It had Strange Dreams as a single and For Your Love, Frank's first real love song on that L.P. It was his last LP for Columbia. One of my top 20 all time records. And then, poof!!! Where's Frank? This post answers some of those questions. When Frampton comes Alive came out he fit in better with what the record co's wanted. 1985? then he had his fans with virtually no radio support etc. He left at the right time. Thanks for the post. Uli Jon Roth dropped out soon thereafter. Schenker tried a different approach and then dropped out. Thank God for the indies that kept these greats music out there for us.

Well said Frank, and you have stuck to your guns ever since you decided to rebuff the "system". Many musicians should sit back and listen to what you are telling them. The feminist movement may want to stop women being exploited, but when the women who are appearing in these magazines, photo shoots and album covers are being paid, what they consider a lot of money, despite what the "sellers" of this material are making, then some women are going to continue exposing their bodies, just to make some money.

They've grown up and they've gotten jobs as A&R directors and PR directors for records companies and they work for promoters and what's happened is, in fact in trying to revolt they've created an establishment of their own and it's ten times worse than what they rebelled against in 69. Frank Marino needs to be praised for maintaining a degree of great musicianship that has integrity throughout his career. Although not a hit maker, he certainly gave us progressive compositions that were decently listenable. The major record labels are the purveyors of the garbage filth which is marketed today, which possesses no real musical talent, & is more appalling than anything that might consist of anything of redeeming value. Punk rock had it’s anti-social shock value, & at times went a bit too far. Comedic lyrics are one thing, but when an artist/group has to refer to incorporating being vile, vulgar & violent lyrically, what does it say of us being a morally conscious society? Parents, don’t let your kids grow up to be rappers, drown ‘em first.

Shows how tame this is in comparison to what's accepted now doesn't it? When the shock value doesn't shock anymore, it gets more shocking to get the same result; when you get used to seeing something as normal. Like the frog in the pot who's in when the water's cold, until it gets turned up slowly, then its stays in there, until it's boiled.

I may have been a minority, I don't know, but I grew up listening to a wide variety of music, living outside of St. Louis. I started with top 40 AM, then FM, and yet in the end, the groups that blew my mind were Yes, and Rush, and groups that seemed to be playing complex music. I think we'd all have to agree those two bands went on to fabulous success without giving in to the pressures to write lyrics about sex or drugs. Now, I'm 66 and I do like groups like Tool, who are quite into the 'spiritual' side I have zero interest in and see it as very damaging, but I listen for the music and the composition, which involves lots of time signature changes and strange chord patterns. Sure, I'm probably not like most listeners, but maybe I am. I doubt that everyone who enjoys Tool is a wanna-be witch, and nor are those who enjoy the old Ozzy stuff. Still, I understand like Frank does (and I really like Mahogany Rush and Frank's playing), and I agree, some music can be very impressionable on our youth. Would I want my kids listening to Tool? I don't know. If they were mature and understood what Danny Carey is into and that so much of their music has ties to the occult, yet listened to their music for the complexity of it, then maybe ... MAYBE it would be all right. But those things require monitoring by parents, and that's not happening much anymore in this country. So who is to blame now? The parents who live horrid lifestyles? The kids who have no leadership at home? The artists? Or the record companies.?

All I know is that from a young, impressionable age I was listening to whatever I wanted and what I was drawn to...rock, soul, rnb, dance, disco, metal, etc...I loved how the music made me feel. Like cinema, if the subject matter was left of center or at least something that wasn't mainstream, I enjoyed it more. I also loved simple pop music too but the point is x-rated lyrics or visuals never changed who I was as a person. I knew/know right from wrong and kept on living the life of a good person. Listening to heavy metal didn't make me a menace to society, I always knew how to conduct myself because that was natural for me. So like Frank said, a big part of that is how you're raised and having a solid home upbringing. It definitely starts there.

Even though Frank played at the California Jam in the 1970's he really was never big. I'm not a big fan of radio, but what are you talking about technical issues? Frank Marino/Mahogony Rush had several songs under 4 minutes, so why are you claiming there were time limits on the radio that prevented his music from getting played? Free Bird and Stairway to Heaven were major radio hits and those are some really long songs.

Other than anything else being played more by Mahogany rush there really wasn't much being played during the day but at night these stations did play other stuff by him and other bands I remember hearing back then .

It's all about one thing, and one thing only... Money, money, money. Profits, sex sells bottom line. It is what it is. They don't care about me, you, your kids, anyone. They care about themselves, what will sell, how much can they make. It starts in the home. Raise your kids, tell them right from wrong, don't hide things from them. They're going to find out either way. Frank looks like Kevin Bacon. Awesome guitarist too!👍👍

I thought it was Bjorn Borg. Love this guy. Frank is so right on when he points out the Hypocrisy of the Woodstock generation because they became YUPPIES and total frauds. Franks a boomer but hes 2nd wave a little post these maggots. IMO the more scantly dressed woman the better sorry frank. Now in 2019 it's a joke if you like rock and woman unfortunately both are no longer in fashion lol. It's like Frank saw the future Grunge came a long and rock was dead and has yet to recover. I realize the games changed with the internet but with that said were flat lining

It's funny. In High School as we smoked pot we all laughed when people said pot was a "gateway drug".It is actually.Sooner or later you try different highs. When "Warning Labels" came out we thought Tipper Gore and the rest were just square and nuts but they were actually right. Frank is a SERIOUS Orthodox Christian , besides being one of the greatest guitar players and all around musicians in the world. He Hates the music industry because it's Evil. It's so evil now Taylor Swift and little girls you think might be tame are full blown Satanists.Almost the whole Industry is Luciferian. Read The Vigilant Citizen-he gives perfect analysis of what is going on.We have a world of ruined kids now-poison food, water, shots, drugs, and almost every thing they place into their consciousness is Dark. They are almost devoid of Hope,Inspiration, and God.And they are all suicidal and depressed-even when they have every material thing. It's spiritual warfare.Lucifer was said to have made the most beautiful music in Heaven before he fell-His influence is ubiquitous now in music,TV,movies, and literature. There is no Rock/Metal guitar player on the planet better than Frank-only a small number of equals maybe. He just hung out with Zakk Wylde who a lot of people think is evil. He's not either. He like Frank, belongs to the 2,000 year old Christian church. You can play rowdy and fast and still be Holy or Inspirational.Carlos Santana has a picture of Jesus on his main amp always.

Marijuana is not a "gateway drug". It is just ubiquitous and relatively cheap. All heroin addicts have also masturbated in their youth, doesn't make it gateway.

Al and Tipper gore were ironically challenged by Dee Snider frontman of Twisted Sister, one of the bands in this "expose". That whole thing ended up going the opposite direction. Rather than protect us they introduced mainstream thug culture in music for the "inner city youth". They were worried about some dirty rockers talking about suicide and other dark subjects. 99% of that music was introspective and it was a true artform. An agreement can be made that music had a negative influence on young people. listen to the average rap song to see where this all ended up. Where to draw the line?

Don't look now but p diddy's going down for his involvement in mainstream thug culture. Looks like he was another Epstein. All kinds of dirt including Jennifer Lopez Prince Harry a bunch of other people implicated with him. This is why they went the opposite direction and put owl and tipper Gore away. Because they wanted to corrupt society and corrupt inner city youth with the music and the lifestyle. Al and tipper Gore were trying to protect those kids by using strict record labeling to control the content that would be released to the children by the record labels. By doing away with those controls those parental restrictions they were able to force thug culture into mainstream society without any opposition. Tupac knew exactly what was going on and that's why he was killed. And he was killed with federal black money because the CIA is running the whole operation. Tupac spoke out against everything and those rappers that wanted in on the deal and had already been paid they knew what they had to do they had to silence Tupac because he was going to fuck their deal up. I think the CIA killed Tupac just to get him out of the way and close his mouth so they could run their operation on the rest of the rappers. In my opinion it worked perfectly.

Funny how we see WASP and Twisted Sister records in this video and how people were in such an uproar over them, but by today's standards, they're rather tame. The black metal and death metal bands are far worse. And the fact that WASP's Blackie Lawless is now a born-again Christian who will not play that "Animal (F**k Like A Beast)" song live anymore and who re-recorded an entire WASP album with the cuss words removed -- now that's a real head-scratcher!
