It varies from song to song. Some are fiendishly difficult, others easy. It is a matter of many years of playing and singing. Sometimes you just need to put the playing on auto-play. I just saw an old Johnny Winter video in which the Bass Player played pretty decent harmonica while really pumping out the bass. His playing became simpler when he blew that harp, but man was he good at both at the same time. Never before have I seen that.

Playing this on my FM radio show tomorrow afternoon! Will ALWAYS play Frank's music. Interviewed him last year and he's the nicest guy. People may wonder why his name and music are not as "popular" or well-known as some others who aren't nearly as talented. Why? Mostly by CHOICE. He basically said the music "business" wasn't for him and that was that. RESPECT.

Best way to practice it is in a full mirror..it allows your eyes to see your hands..it's a visual cue...if you sing at the same time..it keeps the two connected ..because your brain is no longer searching for the visual cue...like the old video games...you knew bald bull was gonna throw a punch because his eyes turned red..like telegraphing kinda..only in this case..its right in front of you.it stops the fight between both sides of your brain as the cue is constantly visible..TRY IT!...it works...it removes the non verbal wall keeping both sides of your brain from working together instead of fighting each other... It usually becomes more or less seamless after a month or two...try humming the lyrics first.... Just try it...all of a sudden..you'll see...you will quit turning your head trying to see what your hand is doing..as the other side of your brain will store the visual cues...then it just becomes automatic.. WITHOUT having the mirror..pro tip from planetp_4u2c

Fortunate enough to have seen him live 2 times. Early 80's in Corpus Christi, Tx and again in San Antonio, Tx some 15 to 17 years back. Both times he was in complete control with his wizardry. Absolute beast mode!! I've heard this show was Frank's last.

Now that’s the kind of listening experience that gets my attention! When’s the next house party? I’ll bring the liquor and a few friends. Oh wait. Is the house still there? Check the liner notes on the back of that live album. I was at,”The Wharehouse “ when, and where part of it was recorded in 78. He burned the place down! There’s now a marker where the building used to be.

I’m standing inside a silver room A sound inside my head like a sonic boom A preacher with a dagger purple and black Is tearing sacred pictures On my naked back Hey preacher, and he smiles in return I think you wanna see me burn You’re squeezing out my blood Please tell me why But he proceeded to break down and cry Oh does anyone know the answer Tell me Lord, does anyone know the answer I’m floating beyond a cosmic dream A feeling in my throat makes me wanna scream A lover who has no love to spare Is ripping out the roots of my leather hair Hey lover, and she made a drunken face Well put yourself in my place Please tell me why you wanna see me hurt at all But she proceeded to break down and bawl Oh please does someone know the answer Oh does anybody know the answer Well I’m old I’m tired and cold I’m dripping like a rainy day I’m searching for a being who’s seen what I’ve seen And I know I’ll find him someday I know I’ll find him someday I know I’ll find him someday

Who do you think can play better on the national level, a guitarist whose played ten years or 50? Of course Frank has gotten better so long as he's been playing and doesn't have arthritis in his hands. Listen to Joe Satriani now compared to the 1980's - same thing. The only guitarists I've seen who diminish as they get older are those who lose the fire of their youth or don't have the health and fitness of their youth. Also check out Al DiMeola on his most recent live concerts. You'll see that nobody can touch him either. He's a giant and better now than when he was playing in Return to Forever.

Ridiculously great. Love the Hendrix influences but Frank Marino stands on his own. He's been great for so long. BTW some of the things that he's doing here, like the octave chords that he plays on this song and the others. It may look easy but it's not. You have to keep your fingers exactly right or does not sound right. And it's a real hand cramper. He makes it look easy and he does it for the entire song. Oh and by the way he sings while doing this hand contortion. Any guitar players out there?

And you exactly right, the stuff that frank is doing here isn't easy at all, Frank just makes it look easy He was my all time favorite players and got me to start playing around 78' when the live album came out

rbagel55 just so you'll know I'm 20 days older than Frank. 62. I actually saw Hendrix when I was like 14. Or something like that. living down south like I always have, it was always Johnny Winter, ZZ Top and the Allman Brothers Band. I stumbled upon Frank in the early 80s. And I was stoked. I used to play in a power trio when I was like 20 or 21 years old. Stack of Marshalls. Did mostly blues rock. Have seen Johnny Winter like 20 times. Growing up in Dallas Texas, Johnny Winter was huge back in those days. the great thing about the internet of course is you can find great stuff like this. Now my 30 year old son is a huge Frank Marino fan
