Boil Channa or "Cup Ah Channa" is a popular-ish snack in Trinidad & Tobago. The most popular boil channa spot I know that sells this tasty treat is "the bar" on Mission Road in San Juan. If you know you know. "Cup Ah Channa" is not the same as going to the doubles vendor and asking for a cup of channa alone. This channa or chickpea snack has different seasonings to the one served up by doubles vendors.
This can be eaten on its own but the right condiments take it to the next level. So I made a Shadon Beni, Garlic and Pepper "Pesto" and a Cucumber & Dill salad to top it.

I usually boil channa and add salt and some pepper sauce and green seasoning and I enjoy that as a snack. Your chadon beni pesto looking proper so going to start doing that and the cucumber salad.

Hey Badawi another winner to try. That dill/cucumber combo was definite 👌. A lil yogurt added wouldn't hurt. Are you not afraid of pepper on bare hands ,be safe till next vid.

Hi Badawi! If I needed to put a rush on it, could I put the channa in the pressure cooker for say...30 minutes or so? And then chunkay the aromatics and add the pressurized channa to it?

Nah boi, dis look real gourmet. I does real fraid fuh yuh hands wid dem raw pepper, though, but I know yuh out here long time. When I was in primary school a vendor used to sell channa like this on grease proof paper for 5 cents! (I ancient, wha I go say) This video real bring back dat memory

Thanks for the guidance. Just amazed by your candid remarks about MSG it is a scientifically proven carcinogenic product like NaHOCl. To each his own and remember that Trinidadian males have a high propensity for high blood pressure

Can you share where you saw this information about MSG being a carcinogen? It's actually present in many vegetables like tomatoes, and glutamate is a neurotransmitter so I'd like to learn more. In any case, he did say to omit it if you want.

You can use celery instead.

Pressure Cooker: For everyone who was asking, soak it overnight and cook it for 40 minutes in the pressure cooker after the first blast! 💥 Boom! Yuh done! I added a little saffron for colour and health benefits. Just my take!
