Kachori (Dhal + Channa) Recipe by Chef Shaun 🇹🇹 Foodie Nation

Yield - 12 Servings
Ingredients:
Channa - 1 cup (soaked overnight)
Split Peas - 1 cup (soaked overnight)
Self-Rising Flour - ½ cup
Split Peas Powder - ½ cup
Baking Powder - 2 tsp
Turmeric Powder - ½ tsp
Salt - 3/4 tbsp
Onion - ¼ cup
Chadon Beni - ¼ cup
Hot Pepper - 1 tsp or to taste
Pimento - 2 tbsp
Garlic - 2 tbsp
Soya Bean Oil for Frying - 4 cups
Method:
1. Add all ingredients to food processor and process until fully incorporated.
2. Preheat oil to 325 F.
3. Shape as illustrated in the video.
4. Fry until golden brown.
5. Enjoy!

I am curious as to why you did not process the peas and aromatics first to get smooth and then add the dry ingredients. Nice size though..and I add some ground geera to the mix. Great finish👌👌

I don't know about you, but falafel is falafel, the way he made it doesn't match the taste and texture of falafel, and that changes everything. Also, not only is falafel made this way, akara and acarajé are also made in similar ways.
I find that you should put little at a time to work better otherwise looking delicious

@@douglagin7131 I'm assuming they mean it's not East Indian kachori, which of course this isn't. He says as much in the beginning that it is a recipe inspired by East Indian kachori, of which there are many regional variations.

@@cupguin I’m Trini. What do you mean by ‘East Indian’? India? This recipe is like putting channa between 2 slices of bread & calling it doubles. More like a kachori relative.
