In Bohemia, at the very heart of Europe, south of the Golden City of Prague and guarded by medieval castles, lies a hidden mosaic of lakes and gently flowing rivers, of misty forests and mysterious peat bogs. This important wetland, shaped both by nature and centuries of influence by man, is a magnet for huge flocks of birds and home to an amazing diversity of plant and animal life. In spring there is an explosion of life as the trees are weighed down with nests of cormorants, egrets, herons and storks. With the arrival of winter the landscape becomes silent and desolate. Otters are hunting fish under the ice of frozen lakes while White-tailed Eagles soar over gaps in the ice, targeting fish and birds. Since his early childhood wildlife cinematographer Jiri Petr has spent much of his time in this wildlife paradise. Together with him, we will explore this remarkable habitat and observe the changing faces of nature during the course of one year that inspired many artists and writers alike.

I had never heard of the Bohemia Wetlands, therefore thank you so much for showing it. This documentary in one of the most beautiful on KZread. Enjoyed everything about it, including the narrator's voice.

"Care and respect!" Two best words in any language!
Quarantined for almost two weeks now (and counting) at home mostly in my room because of Corona virus, I have watched lots of Documentaries available on KZread and this one in particular touched my heart, blame it to me as being a nature lover. I never heard of the Bohemia Wetlands before and I truly appreciate and commend the people over there for preserving the place all these years. Special mention to the narrator, Mr. Howard Nightingall, you just made watching this more pleasant to the ears. Thank you guys and God bless us all.

Self-quarantined for 9 months and counting. Nature documentaries help me stay sane. The sounds of the birds and the trees.
One of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. I hope that the UN has taken note of this place: it is unique. Partially made by man and partially made by nature. A shining example of what a great partnership this can be.
It is amazing to see my country from this perspective. The narrative was great, tho to anyone who is watching: the names sound completely different if spoken by a native haha Also to anyone wondering, carp is a traditional Christmas dish and if well taken care for, quite delicious - we do not have sea so obviously sea fish are expensive that's why main fish eaten here are freshwater ones and carp is low maintenance, therefore the abundance.
So beautiful.. about time humans understand that we are already living in a heaven and that nature should be respected and that we need to protect it. Thank you for sharing!

Four hundred years ago, these ponds and canals must have been dug by hand. It's hard to imagine the number of man hours it must have taken to complete this laborious task that still serves it's purpose well today. Very nice video and I enjoyed it a lot. Thanks.

Our ability to invent our most spectacular infrastructure can be used for nature as well. Bohemia is a great example.
I wanted to learn more about my Bohemian ancestry and was amazed at this wonderful video I found. Beautiful in all it's spender and learning the ways of my people that have existed for 400 years is not typical of our earth. Well done and THANK YOU!

Superbly done. Nightingall's narration is among the best, anywhere.
I am not having a go at anyone in particular here but I just want to point out that this material is FREE to watch. It is very SAD when people complain about picture/sound quality. If people want to watch high quality video then I suggest paying for a TV package.

It's nice to see humans and nature co-existing for a change. I feel like there would be enough in this world for all humans and other creatures, if only we nurtured our environment rather than destroyoing everything in our path.

Ultimately, it doesn't really matter what humans do to the Earth because, in the fullness of time, it's recycled. Earth - a biological photocopier of an original lost in time.

There is. And its not necessarily that the people in general cant coexist. But the government and big corporations. They take ownership, and/or declare areas sanctuary in order to keep regular people out and from using any resources. And big government and corporations are the ones doing the most destructive acts towards nature. By building, digging, poisoning by spills of oils, chemicals, and scientists/ pharmacists taining our (our and wildlife) water supplies with pharmaceuticals like anti psychotics and birth control etc. If you ask all close to and around you, you will find nearly all with the same thoughts as you and want only to live simply and at peace with our beautiful natural lands and wildlife.
Thank You for this outstanding upload.. Key words: "...Nature treated with Care and Respect"...

I have never tasted carp. This was really lovely. Beautiful score too. Harvesting carp looks wet and cold. I'm sure that the community is grateful for the men who accomplish this job so well.

Carp are bottom feeders and in areas where there is industrial pollution, the chemicals settle to the bottom, and the carp ingest those chemicals, and thus should not be eaten.
