Secrets of the Flooded Forest - Danube National Park - Go Wild

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

After beginning in Vienna, the Danube riverbank forests extend to the gates of Bratislava, linking the two capitals like a green ribbon, forming a unique wildlife habitat in the heart of Europe. A few years ago a 36-kilometer section was turned into a national park that now protects the last undeveloped stretch of the Danube and also the last riparian zone of its size in Central Europe. In the forests along the Danube the water’s power can once again influence plant and animal habitats. Everything here is in motion and subject to constant change. Growth and destruction, birth and death are integral to this landscape. And so an outstanding variety of habitats and species has been created: white-tailed eagles breed in the woods, mud minnows and pond turtles populate the old arms of the river, beavers build their dams on the banks. The Danube National Park: a hidden wilderness full of beauty and drama, and a refuge for an astounding variety of flora and fauna.

So beautiful - truly a triumph of conservation and cooperation to allow a truly wild space to continue to thrive before it is utterly swallowed by our own selfish greed. Hopefully more governments will realize the true benefits and beauty of old growth natural forests!

I read alot but to see like the Plover and how sweet it's disposition. The Kingfisher to see him dive and fish is remarkable. All those martins. I'm a beaver more than a sea otter. Great video and alot of fun. Thank you.

The bee-eater and kingfisher are 2 of the most beautiful birds in the world. The birds of paradise may be the only ones to give them competition. Thank you for these wonderful films.

I agree! I grew up in Fla. and used to love watching the Kingfishers and the Ospreys. I've loved birds my whole life and I'm pretty old now,but I can't imagine how I missed the Bee-eaters! I'd love to see them in the wild.

At 43:19 I swear I hear the narrator say "but beavers are not mammals: they do not hibernate" and I feel like I might be mis-hearing it, because beavers are mammals - hibernation is not what makes a creature a mammal. I'm just stumped as to what the narrator meant to say.

I hate when documentaries give bad information, in this case making a clear 'distinction' between frogs and toads as if they are only vaguely related, when all toads Are frogs.
