Absolutely correct! That was the best part!! Even Karloff himself declared it was a perfect imitation of him. When it came out in 62' I thought it was Boris himself. Bobby was extremely ❤talented and we Loved it and played the hell out it! ❤ R.I.P. Bobby.

Ya gotta love the way he morphs into character as the song begins. His facial expressions were as entertaining as the song itself!

Where do I begin? First, Bobby Pickett is a Genus! His facial expressions and imitations bring the song to a whole other level. Second, he made a song for Halloween opening up an entire new genre of both dark rides and Theatrics like Alice Cooper and Black Sabbath. One night my Band was playing this song. I was the Drummer and backup Vocalist. My Neighbor, the Executive Vice President of the Ct Affiliate of the AHA at the time walked in to listen. When we finished he informed us that he went to Brown University with Bobby Pickett! He said we honored Bobby. i was blown away! I still am to this day and periodically I watch Bobby perform this song just to lift my spirits and take me back to that day in 1986.

Yes, the Lugosi impression makes sense for Dracula, but the whole song is from the perspective of Dr. Frankenstein, not Boris Karloff or his monster. I just think it's cool that Bobby did a Karloff impression for the whole song.

A few years ago Hallmark, normally famous for it's Christmas ornaments, released a three piece Monster Mash set, with Dracula on organ, Frankenstein's monster on guitar, and Wolfman on drums. When plugged into the correct power cord, all three would light up. Each a had a button on the back. If you pushed the button on Dracula, for example, they would play the Monster Mash song with Dracula as the lead singer. You could do the same with the other two as well. With all three characters plugged into the same power cord, they would light up in coordinated patterns as the song played. I usually put these up as decorations on my window sill for the Halloween season every year, along with three other power cord light up Hallmark Halloween ornaments. I wish Hallmark would make more power cord ornaments for Halloween, but I guess there just isn't enough commercial interest.

Playing with the shadows on his face was extra-creepy, a true artist.

he was lip sincing not singing. very few TV shows had live singers. its how they got the same sound as the record. Go to live gigs and listen to them sing. they dont sound anything like the recorded versions done in a studio. Even a lot of live gigs their not always singing live they play a recording. Some songs r impossble to do live cause of sound effects they add in when they record songs and cant be reproduced live.

In 1973, I was a young store security guard in Hicksville, Long Island and I had to work the night shift due to a broken window - the alarms were down. In the middle of the night, when I was alone by myself, I had the radio on in the store speakers and as I was walking past some store mannequins and this song came on. It was sort of funny but spooky.

1973 was the year my mom was born. No wonder she's so into horror movies.

No matter how long ago this song came out, is still a classic that can't be replace today. Every song has their spot in every season on this planet, yet people tend to forget over time. This song shouldn't be forgotten, without it i couldn't have not remembered how fun Halloween can be to all us in this day of the year. Young or old, it doesn't matter, just enjoy the 31 of October and pass good candy that childre will smile and have fun. A little scares could be good to. But most of all, happy Halloween. 🎉🧟‍♂️

Best Hallowe’en record EVER!! Loved it when I was 8 years old and still love it at 58 years old. But WOW. Bobbys singing voice and spoken voice are completely different. Spooky!!!

@@mesolithicman164the character of baron daemon was on the Syracuse NY ABC affiliate as a monster movie host and the host of a daily kids show where kids would play games and watch cartoons at the TV studio. Baron daemon was a goofy friendly vampire and strangely had a hit record with the song with transylvania twist. Bobby Pickett does baron daemon perfectly and I think that is the direct reference. Having said all that, I think it is him doing an impression of someone copycatting Bela lugosi vampire. Bobby Pickett does a great bela legosi when he does Igor.

Only if this man knew his voice would still heard years after his death!! And!! Most iconic Halloween song!

Back then, 26 was nearly middle age :-D So, he was approaching middle age and looked it. I knew this elderly lady and when she was talking about working as a pharmacist in her 20s and decided to quit because "I wanted to have children and I was getting up in age". She was 29. LOL!
