I remember when I was little, my grandma used to put on episodes of The Joy of Painting when I came to visit. We'd watch it with lunch, and then my grandpa would go make malted milkshakes in his old drinkmaster during the commercials. The last half of the episode was always with milkshakes there in that sunny old living room. Great memories!

he spent 20 plus years of his life as a screaming into ears, angry drill sergeant in the military. He couldn't do that anymore and decided to become peaceful in a way art calmed him down

He says that because an artist needs to make everything look good and happy for it to sell. I don't use oil paint like Bob, I use acrylic but I always say it must be a happy tree,ect when I paint because this is what sells paintings. Bob's paintings are happy paintings.

I totally agree. He's so enlightened and bright and everything is so soft and gentle with him, I have generalized anxiety and this is the most relaxing helpful thing I've found for calming me down so far

I think we have truly lost a man no one could ever hate and someone everyone loved he's was a great painter but also the kindest man to ever walk and he will forever be in our memories. thank you so much for putting these on youtube

Sometimes when I'm stressed or have had a bad day, I put on an episode of Bob Ross and after a while I start to feel much more relaxed

I was anxious today and I had to study but I couldn't, and then watched Bob Ross painting and old memories from my childhood when I was watching his show came back. Now I'm more relax and calm

I love how Bob never puts TOO much detail into his paintings. He leaves the detail so the mind can fill in the gaps, giving an almost nostalgic feel. It makes the paintings feel personal to everyone who views it.

I don’t know what it is, but whenever I watch Bob paint, all of my loneliness just vanishes. I still haven’t completely gotten over a past relationship and when I’m feeling lonely, I come to watch Bob Ross and it legitimately helps. Thanks Bob, you’ll forever be missed

The combination of Alizarin Crimson and Pthalo Blue on the canvas makes the finished painting beautiful and striking. Bob, you were a genius.

You have to consider "dislikes" as "jealousy, or in other words, a LIKE" on the internet. Understand people have a choice to be positive or negative, and therefore, they will be negative just because.... Perhaps it was a "happy little accident"? But yeah, anyone to actually give Bob Ross a dislike needs therapy at extreme expense instead of just painting along with Bob.... People would give the Mona Lisa a thumbs down in numbers. (just need that "happy little asteroid" to fix that.....)

Yeah, I do the same thing. It's especially nice when you're organizing your desk or something else that needs thought, but is boring. Bob in the background makes it more fun somehow.

Every single Bob Ross video: 1. You can stop there after the sky and cloud. Masterpiece in itself. 2. You can stop at the third layer. 3. Mindblown when he adds the stones. RIP Bob, you made the world better.

This man was a genius. Love his paintings.

I always come back to Bob, his soft speaking is so genuine and relaxing. 💆‍♂️ Although Gentle Whispering ASMR is a close second.

Bob Ross is the painter version of Fred Rogers. Both gents are still beloved for that fact. I think we love the gentle innocence and consistent integrity of people like this. You never heard about either doing something to damage the vision of them that we have grown up with and carried to this day.

This has to be ASMR. His voice is so calming ❤️

Bob Ross is so comforting, he's like a warm furry purring kitten on your lap in the early morning with a cup of earl gray and some pleasant music, on the porch, wrapped in a blanket, watching the sun come up. I love him.

He makes me so so happy when I feel sad

The white noise, Bob's voice, and the strokes of the brush just make me feel excellent. Just remember that Bob is looking among us in heaven, and loving every painting we have made. May he rest in peace.

when Bob paint and talks all those happy things, i get tears in my eyes. Ive been depressed for a very long time, and watching Bob makes me feel all those happy feelings i dont feel nowadays anymore. Thank you Bob Ross, keep painting somewhere up there on a most beautiful cloud there is. Rest in peace.

I'm been depressed as well too... I lost my faith in humanity, I lost hope for America they aren't land of the "free" anymore, they never had been. I don't care if I live or die, I'm just afraid what's the outside, when we ALL past away soon... Bob ross shows us that there are still goodness somewhere but what we're at now in 2018, isn't good at all.

this man was pure. an angel sent to earth to spread peace, love, and kindness. I would love to one day have one of his paintings on my wall. Rest in Peace Bob. the world needs more people like you.

the spoopy moth yeah people know how beautiful the painting is, but they also love how chill bob is, not only are his episodes a how to series, but a way to connect himself and the viewer emotionally by painting, making people love him for being so relaxed and laid back making his viewers continue to watch episodes for his art AND soothing voice and personality

I think he was lucky he made this show before the HD/4K era.

Even when Bob Ross passed away, we wont forget and be happy of all the happy painting that made our day and make us a happy painter.

He really did make the most beautiful paintings.Theres something just so calming about them.

planetX15 Because, as I've said, they're on every single video, for the entire video. When I watch a playlist, which is 69 videos, I have to turn off the annotations every video. Watch TV with a big thing on the screen and it comes back every new show that come on. After a while, you'll want that feature removed too.

I'm in heaven watching Bob Ross paint this great painting! I like how he uses the Pthalo Blue and mixes it with the Alizarin Crimson! You see, Blue is my favorite color, so I love it when Bob uses Pthalo and Prussian Blue in his paintings! 💙💙🤍🤍

I love Bob Ross. May he Rest In Peace.

Nothing beats a relaxing night as hearing rain pitter patter outside your bedroom window and hearing Bob Ross describe his joy of painting.
