Once again, a joy to watch: captures nicely the best of small sailing boat cruising, lovely tone, commentary, scenery and chats with others - and a feast for the eyes with all those lovely craft.

That was awesome Paul. Loved sighting the Cal 14 in such great shape. Brought back memories of when I owned one. I must tailor my Scamp to sail the Myall Lakes sometime.

Nice sail and beautiful boats! I am heading to my closest UK equivalent the Norfolk broads, going to make one of those galley stoves - hope it turns out like yours (will it cook such interesting meals as yours I wonder;)

Great video's , it's winter here i'm in Canada an itching to get building , last boat a branch from a maple tree broke it nearly in half last winter in a ice storm so having that foot itis building a 16 footer this time , o it was a 14 ft dory , this next one is based on a dutch dory called a hans brincker from 1949 ish that i swiped the lines from um online , it's to nice a boat not to build in my mind , dunno how it will float but that's what life is about 🙂 Happy sailing

@@SailingKateLouise Thx for your interest and your video's , the lofting is almost done as soon as the weather warms up another couple of weeks i'll have the strongback in place and get going on the keel , i'm fortunate in already having all the hardware , mast , keel , oak that's been in the attic of the shop for yrs ect... shopping for planking and am very excited to get going , theres nothing like working on wooden sailboats 🙂
I just purged some of the youtubers I've followed to save some time but not you my friend! I love your videos, the wooden boats, even your dry packaged meals! You do a great job at conveying the relaxation of wooden and small boat sailing and you have kept me motivated on my 19 footer, so thank you again Paul and as always Cheers!! 🍺⛵⛵⛵

Paul thanks for another entertaining video. Great editing and music to match. Finally to meet you and the other Sydney guys at the festival. Hopefully my Frisco Senior almost as old as me can join you for a RAID. Although the space may make sleeping on board a cramped challenge. See you on the water soon.

Hello, The dropped wisker pole reminded me of a sail many years ago. I sailed across a wide open space in lake Mälaren. A wagtail flew crossed my path with her yearling chick. The chick fell to the water. I was just about to turn my dinghy around to pick the chick up from the water. Then a large herring gull swooped down and snatched the chick from the surface of the lake. Sadly there was nothing I could do. Still, it made that sail so many yars ago, something I still remember,

so sad, but that's nature. The jets which practice low flying over Myall lakes were also a distraction. I think Terry was watching them rather than the marker that was getting closer. Thanks again for watching, cheers Paul

@@SailingKateLouise I would also have watched the jets. I love fighter jets. It was my boyhood dream to be a fighter pilot. I grew up under the thunder of the J35 Dragon figthers as we lived close by a figther base. In my teens I was an airforce boy. It was a bit like the boy scouts but in an airforce setting. We learnt stuff like identifying and reporting arial movements. We also learnt to handle guns. We also camped in the woods. It was all fun and interresting.
Another great video Paul. 🎉

Hi Paul, love the channel. I recently picked up a canoe shell and intend to fit it out for rowing and sailing and I was wondering how your boomless main performs and if it might be worth considering. The canoe is 4m x 1.05. Any comments and suggestions for a drop in rig would be appreciated. Craig.
@SailingKateLouise
5 ай бұрын
Hi Craig checkout Michael Storer's Kombi canoe, it does have a boom on a lug sail and leeboards as well. You might be able to adapt something similar for your canoe....might need outriggers as well. Thanks for watching, cheers Paul
Great job Paul ,were you beating up on Phil at one stage of the sail?

I've been meaning to ask Paul, why do you use oat milk in your cooking? Does it keep well without refrigeration ?
@SailingKateLouise
5 ай бұрын
Nope I try to be non dairy and the oat milk tastes better than soy or Almond but it is long life and would last about 4 days without a fridge, cheers Paul
Thanks again Paul. When you launch at violet hill, is that a national park? If so how do you pay park fees. The reason I ask is that I would like to sail the myall system but we have a smsll dog who sails with us. Planning a cruise of Lake Macquarie the beginning of April. Hope the weather is kind.
@SailingKateLouise

Hi Roger yes all of Myall lakes is a national park, parks pass about $60 a year and no dogs....sorry, Lake Macquarie isn't a national park, cheers Paul

Would a tailorable 20ft sailboat still be considered a dinghy? Still drawing plans for the boat I hope to build at some point in the future.
@SailingKateLouise
5 ай бұрын
Well that's a very good question and the answer is probably no. A 20ft with a cabin is more a trailer sailor than a dinghy and the true definition of a dinghy is a small open boat, thanks for watching, cheers Paul
