My "favorite" feature of the fob, is, walking past my front window and seeing my trunk is open on a rainy day. And I'm wearing my robe whilst heading to the bathroom. Obviously, something was inadvertently pressed to do this. I'm grateful for my honest neighbors! And congratulations on your 1 million!

I hear you Thomas. That happened to me too in the winter I looked out and saw sunroof and all windows opened and there was fresh snow in the car. Lol

Didnt know the memory seats can also activate according to key fobs. Amazing! Thanks!

When you pulled that mechanical key, I was like is this guy a magician? Never knew about that feature before. Awesome really.

@@ECPP You can also use the manual key to open the windows / sunroof by holding the door lock in the open position (just like the remote), but unlike the remote you can use the manual key to close them as well. BMWs of this vintage also have a plastic emergency key with a chip embedded that can be used for this purpose.

To close the windows and sunroof take the key out of the fob and put it in the drivers door and turn it clockwise and hold it until everything is closed.

Here in Australia all of my previous BMW (mix models) 2009-current all had the open and CLOSE windows feature. Also the headlight illumination feature (when you get home and want lights on) you could go into the vehicle (onboard computer settings) and programme headlights on after locking vehicle and choose how long you want them on for. Hope this helps future bmw owners. There is so many choices and settings that will drive you crazy. Also if you have head up display, you can adjust the light intensity and display position on the windscreen (also you can switch it off)

ExoticCar PlayPlace it may not be as good as some higher end scanners but it has been very useful for me. I have had a series of issues with my vehicle that I have diagnosed with Carly scanner. Sticking swirl flaps, boost pressure sensor, and crank position sensor. It also allows me to reset service, request a regeneration, vehicle coding and track all of the parameters right from my phone. It has been just as essential as my 10mm socket 😁 I’m also running Malone stage 2 tune. The extra power is really nice and the fuel economy has improved. fully loaded trunk with a roof box aswell I got 9L/100km from Toronto to kawarthas and back last week.

@@LikeaBosss22 Sounds handy. How much are they going for? Do you have to pay for the Carly app also?

If your battery is dead in your key fob and you use the manual key to unlock the car you can touch the key fob against a symbol marked on the side of the steering column and push the start button in the car. This will disable the immobiliser which will enable you to still start the engine.

The comment about the second hit of the off button is very useful. I've always been washing my car with my key fob in my pocket and my comfort access starts to lock and unlock constantly when the water hits the car and rlnses. Totally aggravating but hopefully now I have that fixed and can keep the key fob on me while I wash and dry the car.

It's a terrific idea. You show how to use the BMW X5 key, how a thief will not steal the car.

I repaired or replaced the Following: 1) New Brake Pads and Rotors 2) New Electric Fuel Pump 3) New Front Passenger Window Regulator. 4) New Spark Plugs 5) New Coil Packs 6) New Front Left Brake Caliper 7) New Front Upper & Lower Control Arms 8) DME 1 & DME 2 Software updates 9) New Bank 2 Sensor 1 Oxygen Sensor. 10) New Starter Theres always something to maintain on this fancy BMW.

My first experience with your videos and I like it. I look forward to more. I also have a question: Do you know if you can change the heads-up display from MPH to KPH or vice versa. My vehicle is a 2014 X5.

my '88 e32 had most of those features, and my '95, and '01 e38 have all those features, but have to use carsoft to program the key to close the windows.

Great tips! Hold the hatch button down 5 seconds and the alarm sounds. Nice feature for ladies walking to bmw in dark parking lots.

Hi. Great video, you can't close with the key 1:54 , but you can close it with comfort touch. If you have your key in the pocket... just touch the door handle it will lock it touch and hold again and it will close windows and sunroof

Hello Mr. exotic, I love your videos, recently purchased a used 2010 E70 with comfort package, but now driver door comfort unlock is not working but the other doors do work. Do you have experience with this? When parked overnight the next day I have a high battery drainage? In your opinion, is it the faulty driver door draining the battery? Or would it be my alternator resisters or battery? If opinion to share would be great. I have a couple of e46's and do work on them Myself. Feel on top of the world working them, but the x5 took some wind from my sail heh. Thanks again Mario

Can you try and take the conventional key out and put it to the drivers door and try to lock it but keep it holding on lock position see if that will lock the windows

Does it work for a 2016 x1? Planning on buying a preowned x1.

Audible noise is the actuators locking doors and fuel tank tilt feature is if your car is rocked or picked up so wheels being stolen or car moving

My 2011 m3 opens the windows, does not close them. I've seen this video before about disabling the system so it wouldn't chirp while washing the car. Forgot how to disable rewatched and will try that next time.

I just took my friends on a roadtrip with my X5. It’s such a good car.

My 135i Coupe from 2008 does all of the opening of the windows when I hold down the unlock button. But I don't have the soft touch opening and of course I can't close the windows unless I do it manually from inside with the key physically in the ignition.

In OKC U.S my bmw 550i 2008 did close the windows with the key fob lock button but my 2015 m4 doesn’t do it.

I have a 2007 X5. Last week the SAT and CD are not available in the idrive menu. They are gray and cannot be accessed. I cannot even get to Channel 0 on XM. Any suggestions as to why this happened out of the blue?

You can do it with your actual key as well.

try keeping pressed on the key fob the button of the trunk, normally it should allow you to leave it open in the angle you want immediately when depressing it, let;s say in order to carry a longer than your trunk object. If you try let us know if it worked!

Rick Smooth I hear that allot.. but take into consideration that the battery from the jewelry stores or key cutting places are not rechargeable so it should only apply to keys that have no way of changing the battery like an e46 also the e46 has a copper coil that’s in the ignition. I am not sure if they implemented the same coils due to a replaceable battery in the fob if there is a coil you would need a rechargeable battery. If you have a source for rechargeable fob batteries pls share it with us.

I did enjoy it

I have a 2011 x5 50i and the "comfort acess" doesn't seem to work on any of the doors. I even changed the batter in the key fob and that didn't change anything. There's no damage to any of the door handles so I'm not sure why when I touch the door handle, it doesn't lock or unlock the doors. I almost feel like there's some setting on the key fob or inside the car that disables the comfort access and you can only use the key fob to get lock the doors.

There’s any option to strat engine with key only like we just out said car

Would it work on the 1series

Being a first time BMW owner of a 2015 550i Xdrive with MDrive (not sure about the terminology) want to learn more. Thank you for your video. BTW drove SAAB's before.

Hold the lock button for 5-6 seconds and it will roll up the windows. Same with comfort (soft) access. Put hand over handle area to lock door and leave hand there for 5-6 seconds and it will roll up windows. If that doesn’t work then the car needs to be coded. Can be done with Carly App and OBD ll module at home. Lots of coding features can taylor your BMW to the desired functions.

I've got a e91 2008 which was sold in Sweden and i can close the windows :)

In my 2013 bmw x5m I just use my manual key and stick it inside of the door and all the windows will roll back up

HI all I think if you have the soft touch door lock on your bmw. ..you can close the windows and sun roof by keeping your finger on the door censer until they close

You forgot to mention that if you hold the mechanical key in the left position it opens all windows and roof. Right will close all and fold the mirrors.

The car must have the Comfort Access option for this to work.

Using the key in the door lock. Turn and hold to open or close all windows and noon roof.

Amazing content

You did not mention the key can lock the hatch/booth from the armrest console. If you don’t want, say the car wash people or Machanic to have access to the car booth you can lock it and take that mechanical key with you while leaving the fob with them.

3:20 - I have 2009 X5 Diesel (almost like yours) without comfort access. I found that I can unlock the car with the key, slide key in the slot, start the engine. Then, after a half a minute, I can shut down the engine and take key out of the slot and (without long pause) press break and start the engine without key in the slot. After that I can lock lock my car running to get it wormed up and go home with the key in my pocket. Fount this feature unexpectedly... :)

Tip: Another way to open or close all the windows at once is you open and take the key out of the fob, put the key into the drivers door lock, turn and hold the key in position either left or right, depending on whether you want to open or close the windows.

For which model years does that work? I have a 2000 X5 with a different type of key; no fob.

I also have a 2009 x5 diesel, and I just tried the press start without the key inserted in the slot, and nothing happened... Anyway, i don't know why the air blows out very weak from dash...

only with comfort option ( Fob with cell battery ) , all the other ones ( rechargeable battery by induction ) won't work

I have a 2012 F11 were it says "low battery" and when I put in a new battery it takes about 2-3 month and it says "low battery" again. I checked it and it's 3.6V on both the old and new battery and it's the same with both fobs and I can unlock the car from 20 yards. I still use them but some times it says "no key" and I can't start unless I lock and unlock a couple of times and it has been like this for 5 years. A solution anyone?

You've probably sorted this or even have a new car now but I had a similar issue with an octavia. I had to turn the battery around inside the key so the positive terminal picture was facing a certain direction. The battery was basically rotating inside the key which shouldn't make any difference really should it! Might be the same or completely different but just thought I'd share this experience.

My dad used to have an e61 5 series touring and the fob died so he used the key and he locks with it. The alarm keeps going off with it. Even if it's locked with the key and I have been locked inside and someone opened the interior mirror then the alarm went off

With my X1 hold your hand on the front exterior handle and the windows and sun roof will close.

If yours window are down. You can take the key out of the key fob. Turn right locking the car it'll roll up the windows as well. My 2014 BMW X1 DOES IT
