You can also CLOSE the trunk using the key-fob, just keep the trunk button pressed until the trunk is closed. ✌️

17 X3's key fob won't too as many as this. It cannot do remote start since the vehicles didn't have it during the time. It cannot roll up the windows, but if you have comfort access, you can hold the door sensor and roll it up that way.

Great content. You can also open close stop and reverse close or open your your trunk using the trunk button on your keyfob. And if you have bimmercode you can set a delay for the trunk opening. This is for if you have your keys in your pocket to avoid accidentally opening the trunk. 😊

I own a 2015 BMW X5 35D here in the US. I discovered holding down the unlock does roll my windows down and sunroof open and holding down the lock rolls them back up so that’s cool! I don’t have remote start(boo). Holding down the trunk on the key fob does not close it and yes because I have a tow hitch I can’t open it with the leg swipe. Also pressing lock twice doesn’t disengage my motion detecter inside the vehicle.This video is very informative, thank you!

I Own a 2019 3 Series G20 With a electric tow hitch. It does have a kick sensor for opening the trunk. In my experience a kick from left to right with my left foot works al the time for unlocking and locking the trunk.

Thats just a transport piece, not necessarily a part you should get. I personally am very careful and never ding any cars but if you end up in a area where you may get dings, I would get these - amzn.to/3P9mmhf

Thank you for that great informative video👍🏾. I bought a used Bmw 320i from a car dealer. And i was given only one main Key-Fob plus another smaller Key-Fob for locking and unlocking the doors only.. I was given only one bunch, my worry is, where is the other spare bunch? and suppose the car dealer is rogue, and happen to sneak in, and steal my car using the spare bunch.. what should i do? I have a 128ti (2021, F40) and I'm able to close the trunk with the key ^^ After I opened it, I can close it with keep pressing the trunk button until it's closed. The trunk stops moving when I release the button to early. Short pressing, trunk will open again - Holding the button continues closing.

Videos won't be coming out for older generation BMW, the demand for those are very low, many of these buttons are shared from car to car though, I would watch some of the others of the newer cars and that may help a bit.

Hey Farooqp, great question, I've personally never heard of a BMW key fob being relay attacked. I do know there is not a way to disable that as far as I know.

Yes it will turn off after 15 mins, you can also press lock 3 times again to turn off remote start. Unfortunately no fob pocket, closest you'll get to is going to be the cupholders or the cubby right above it.

I've a tow hitch and the kick feature works perfectly fine

If you have two key FOBs and two driver profiles how do you actually assign 1 of 2 specific driver profiles to one particular key and the other driver profile assigned to the other key?

You can do it in the driver profile menu and going into settings from that page. The best way is when you're setting up the profiles to have the designated key within the vehicle and moving the other one away from the vehicle. But go into settings, keep one key in the car, and you should be able to re-link it.

Good point. I believe the only feature you would lose would be the walk away and walk toward feature of course, you may also not be able to close the windows from the lock button on the fob.

Hold down unlock will also activate the top down for a convertible, which I have, a 2022 840i.

Mate, you can actually close the TRUNK by holding the trunk button on the key fob and it will bring the trunk down/close. Try it.😝 We do with our BMW the UK version actually.

Remote start will not, but the kick to open might. Your vehicle would have to have the keyless entry feature though.

I would LOVE to know how to permanently disable the car alarm. I've seen a couple of things that say "remove the fuse for it" or "drain the batter" or things like that. But...I'm hoping there's just a setting "turn off car alarm". Is there anything like that? (2021 M3 Comp)

No setting for it unfortunately. The only thing close to it would be the feature to turn off the beeping sounds when you lock and unlock the car. I'm not aware of how the fuse box works, but a BMW technician might.

Helpful video but I found many of these "tips" do not work on the 2022 330e. BMW needs a "Pet mode" like tesla. I have tried everything to leave the vehicle with AC on, doors locked, and alarm off but there is no way to do it. Even the 2009 hyundai sonata hybrid could do that.

Understood. Yes Pet mode would make much more sense. Honestly probably 5% of the population knows about the motion detector turn off. It would be nice to have a pet mode and then program that to one of the memory keys!

I second the desire for pet mode. I have two standard poodles that I would like to take with me and be able to leave in the car with the air con on. Tesla has pet mode. BMW needs it too!

Hey Thunder, most likely will have this same key fob. The only bmw that has the brand new style currently is the iX. Even the i4 has this current generation fob.

It should roll up the windows when holding lock, I'm not sure which country you're from but sometimes I have seen different key functions depending on the country. Here in the US you should be able to with a 2023 model. If not, another thing you could try is holding down the lock sensor on the door handle to see if that works. This method was what worked on the last generations.

Im quite sure for the X5s the comfort access feature is standard. Not the case if you had a X3. If you go into settings and go under where it says doors/access you should see comfort access located there.

For opening, i am not aware of yet. I do know by holding down the LOCK button on the key fob you are able to close the doors.

Nice video. Believe it or not, VW / Audi models have almost identical key fob functionalities as BMW. For instance, the auto roll down while pressing unlock already works on VWs since the 90s.. Unfortunately no remote start here in Germany.. 😞

Hold the new key near the steering wheel column, on the side that has the picture of a key (it's hard to see but it's where you would hold the key if the key fob was dead) and then as you're holding it there continue to press the start button over and over till it starts. Keep your other key away from the car.

Look on the side of the STEERING WHEEL COLUMN. Its the box that holds the steering wheel. On the side you'll see a picture of a key, you can hold your dead key fob there flat and then start the car. This means your battery is dead and needs to be replaced on your key.

Not as many since these are more for the 2019+ X5s. If you're x5 has comfort access you can hold down the sensor on the door handle to roll up the window. That's one of the different ones.

I have a very strange problem. My 2023 X5 G05 can change my master key before. Today, I want another key to be the master key, but I can't change it, because the master key can match my personal data. Can you understand what I mean?

If you mean your original key fob, that you would have to go into driver profiles settings and then forget the key from there. Easier if you just delete the profile all together and then log back into it with the key you wish to link with it. If you mean your digital key where it can link to the phone, within the settings menu there should be an option there to delete the main key and link another. One thing you forgot: use the mechanical key to enable or disable the front passenger seat airbag. Maybe there is some other legislation in the US, but in other places, people sometimes use the front passenger seat to install specialized baby seats. In that situation the airbag is dangerous in a collision…

May be an issue with the key fob, I would try to replace the battery. A lot of the times if the key is in the purse it may cut off the signal too. Im sure you checked, but doors and access settings is where you're going find the comfort access feature if it has it.

Note: The key fob only remembers which profile is attached to which fob. Settings associated will be in the vehicle, so you can change the battery for the fob without worrying about having to re-do the profile!

My boss just ordered a 2023 7 Series (not the i7) and I want to buy him a cool key fob cover, but I have no idea what the new 7 Series key fob looks like. In addition I just ordered a 2023 X3 M40i and I have to wait 5-6 months for my car. I saw a cool key fob cover I wanted to purchase, but once again...I have no idea what the fob looks like for North America. If you can help me I'd really appreciate it.

Hey Don, thanks for reaching out. I have not seen it yet, but I strongly believe BMW will upgrade the new 7 series key fob. An example of what this will look like is in one of my older videos that I did on the new x7 LCI, video below. kzread.info/dash/bejne/haGquNKknpnRdtI.html Fast forward to about 1:48 seconds to see the new design. Keep in mind that the shape will be the same but the designs on the key may vary. The iX key is also a similar shape but it doesn't have the fancy M strips that this X7 Msport has. I would personally recommend waiting for the cool key fob covers to come out, they still have yet to release from what i've seen so far, a local dealer should be one of the first ones to get them. They can also run the vin number of the vehicle your boss ordered and check to see if it fits. Your 23 X3 M40i will have the older design which is similar to what you see in this video, congrats on the purchase btw! Lastly, the functions/features on the new key fob and this one remain the same from what i've seen. Simply just a design/layout change. Hope this helps! I do believe that this key fob and its functions should work with the G11. I've sold a G11 to my girlfriend's father and I remember it had the same key fob as the one in the video. The only thing you may not get in the G11 is a remote start, so you won't be able to use that function. (This is if your country laws allow it in the first place)

Sorry didn't quite understand the question, could you re-phrase it? The vehicle can only unlock from the driver side if the key is nearby.

No it does not, they discontinued it a couple years ago. The mybmw app is more useful these days and the iX is even going to have digital key plus where you don’t even have to pull out your phone to open the car!

Couple different ways to do it. Digital Key Card: This is the credit card looking thing that comes with BMW's, if your BMW came with one that is. You have to make sure this is activated and when it's ready, tap and hold on the door handle to lock and unlock the vehicle. Then take it and place it on the phone holder tray / charging tray, thats located above the cup holders to start the vehicle. Many NEW BMW's, 2022 / 2023 come with the Phone Digital Key, which you could use the same way as the card but with the use of your phone. The way you set this up, again if your BMW is compatible with it, is to go into the MY BMW App, you should see a setup menu on the first screen if your BMW is compatible with the Phone Digital Key. Hope this helps.

My comfort access not working. It flashes "COMFORT ACCESS REDUCED " when engine is shutting down. What should I do to correct it please.

Sounds like a glitch, best case would be to bring it in to get it checked out.

can you make a video about all the nuances of using and activating the card key and digital key. I have a custom built x5 coming in 6 weeks. Can't wait!

Sure would love to add that to the list. Congrats on the new X5, most of the drawbacks about the key CARD is the fact that it's only good for a 1 year subscription. The digital key for iphones and androids is much more convenient. Being that your X5 is new it should be able to link to your phone as a digital key. If you don't already know, simply tap and hold your phone on the door handle to lock or unlock, and place on the charging tray to start the vehicle. You can give out up to 5 different digital key accesses to family members as well.

@@BeamerView Damn i didn't know the key card was only good for a year. I've been doing a lot of research, but didn't see that. I wish the x5 had digital key plus which the new system has. But i plan on upgrading in 4-5 years. Thanks for the reply!! btw i'm one town over from Sudbury, and went there but eventually ended up buying from BMW of Norwood.

Do you guys think the remote starter is feasible and safe for the engine? I know American cars won’t last long lol.

Good question, I could do a separate video on this or I should've mentioned it in this one. You would remove the manual key and then you are able to remove the back flap of the key by pulling on it hard, then you should see the battery that you can replace.

My sensor kept saying replace battery. Battery was changed. Now my 2 key pads are not working. I cannot lock and unlock the car. I did open my car manually. The alarm went off. Now it is saying , remote not connected. I have to put the key pad to the ignition sing to start the car.

I have a 2017 430i. I waould like my horn to beep when pressing the lock button so I can find my car in a crowded parking lot. Is this possible?

Unfortunately not, BMW's are only designed to make the beeping sound.

Yeah they had to order it from Germany and if I go through independent place my vin comes dealer only programming

Key cannot charge, you would have to replace the battery located within, behind the back flap.

Can anyone explain why my 2018 X3 tailgate opens unexpectedly while parked? On several occasions I have found it up while the rest of the vehicle is still locked.

Hey Larry, that does seem like a glitch in the system that I would get checked. Might be with the key fob, or the trunk button located near the door.

5 series G30, has the same issue. In my experience it is the button being pressed accidentally when the fob is in my pocket. It can be coded out so that a much longer press is required, or so that the car has to be unlocked before the tailgate can be opened.

The ones that are on this car are just foam pieces that come from the factory before the car is detailed.
