I absolutely love this song! ❤ I agree, it is a special and different kind of love song--not only for the instrumentation and energy, but also for the beautiful simplicity of the message--just a man being so thankful for the woman he loves! If someone so passionately expressed this to me, I would melt! 😊🥰

It is so difficult to explain how incredible the 60's and 70's were for music. It included crooners from the 40's and 50's, but also the Beatles, and Bob Dylan, and new ways of playing music that was so innovative. Singers and groups were starting to write their own music, and it was incredible. Love songs like this were coming out all the time. Music had meaning. I don't think we will ever see anything like that again. You would have loved it.

Yes, this is a powerful song given his voice and the use of the instruments involved, this was part of what made Blood Sweat and Tears so great back then and even nw. There are several mores songs they're well known for such as, "Spinning Wheel" and "Lacresha McEvil" that you might want to check out.

The band came together by a producer who had been in the studio where Chicago was recording their first album "Chicago Transit Athority". He had a band that had a brass section he was about to record so he punched up the brass and added David Claton Thomas either in that session or shortly afterwords. Their cover of Billy Holiday's God Bless The Child is brilliant.

Especially love their stuff when David Clayton-Thomas joined as their lead singer. Al Kooper is not on this song from BST. David Clayton Thomas is singing. David is his own story. He inherited his guitar from a fellow inmate of a Juvenile prison Labour camp in Northern Ontario in the 60’s when that inmate was being released. He learned to play the guitar and to sing and when he was released found his way to the Toronto music scene and travelled all over wowing audiences with his great voice and powerful style.
