Here is an additional hint to newcomers: If you want to keep a certain part of the mesh unchanged, e.g. you want to make sure a joint doesn't get distorted, you can create a Vertex Group in the mesh and then specify that in the Vertex Group field of the Lattice modifier. It's important to specify it in the MODIFIER. NOT in the Lattice properties. Thanks for the video! Exactly what I was looking for!

3d models can often have a 'too perfect' shape. This is an easy way to make them look a little imperfect and organic.

Can you show how to use Lattice Modifier with Symmetry tools? For example - I want this pumpkin to be modified with Lattice but from both left and right sides to get Symmetric look of mesh? This is useful for any humanoid character modelling or anything that is not asymmetric in the world and got left side same as right side. 3d max FFD make 2 click. Blender lattice make 20 click. Blender developers do something!

Yes. Blender has many good things going for it. Wonder why some of the more simple modifiers aren't done better/more simple.

The lattice has properties on one of its tabs that you can set to how many edge loops the lattice has in the u and v axis
