Using the LATTICE MODIFIER in Blender!

In today’s video, we’re going to talk about how to use the lattice modifier to modify different shapes inside of Blender!
LATTICE MODIFIER BLENDER DOCUMENTATION LINK
docs.blender.org/manual/en/la....
So this tool is basically designed to help you deform your meshes based on a lattice that’s being used as a control cage. In the simplest way of describing this, you’re drawing a cage around your object, linking your object to the cage, then adjusting the cage, which will also adjust your object!
This can result in some very interesting shapes or deformations of your objects.
Start - Add a lattice object
Make sure your object sits completely inside your lattice if you want the whole thing to be affected.
Note - adjust lattice using the lattice settings
The more detailed your lattice, the more control you have over your shape.
Add a lattice modifier to the object you’d like to adjust - link it to the lattice object. More about vertex groups in a minute
Now, if you tab into edit mode, you can adjust the individual points of the lattice - adjusting the lattice also results in deformation of your base mesh.
Can move, rotate, scale, etc.
Let’s talk a little bit about lattice detail and object detail. The ability of the object to deform is driven by the detail of the geometry. This means that an undetailed object will only deform based on the vertices in the object, while a detailed object has more geometry to work with, kind of like working with the displacement modifiers.

I've seen many tutorials on latice modifiers, but this is by far, the best. You take it slow and explain each step very clearly. Your voice is very clear so it's easy to understand what you are saying. Many tutorials, unfortunately are hard to follow since some only give you bad background music and no verbal instructions on how to proceed. Excellent video! Thanks!!

The only reason I never used this tool was because I didn't know I had to actually create a lattice first.. Blender still needs some more intuition implementing because if I put a lattice modifier on an object, I would assume a lattice would be automatically placed on the bounds of my object. I feel like I've wasted so much time not realising this extra step
