    We have six 'Guardian Dogs' of this/other Breed/Lineages, and they're absolute horrors to any intruding coyote/raccoon/possum! Amazingly, as fierce as they can be/are to threats, watching them play/lounge around the young animals and human children really shows their big hearts and gentle nature (When they're allowed to indulge in it!). :-)

    I was at a horse ranch in North Texas a couple of years ago when the resident Anatolian was leaning against me while I was scratching his shoulders and petting him. I said, “You know these dogs can be on the aggressive side.” The ranch manager says, “Yeah, he bit a guy last week but if he likes you you’re good.” I said, “I’m glad he likes me!” (I hoped!😳)

    We had a large dog that was half Rottweiler and half Doberman. She was very intimidating to look at and was very happy to let you know she was there. She was also a total whimp! The only time she ever growled at us was when she stole a bag of corn bread and muffins off the counter and hubby tried to take it from her. She ate everything including the bag! She also knew she was to stay off the bed but she would try to sneak into the bedroom and get on it anyway. She would flatten herself the best she could but that's kind of hard when she weighed 100 pounds. I miss her so much even though she has been gone over 25 years.

Anyone here who knows more about dog training and muzzle s can expand an correct me

  • @HailKosm

    @HailKosm

    Ай бұрын

    to my understanding the agitation muzzle is to tell the dog when they can bite and when they don't need to. Used mostly in police and military K9 training, because they want to train the dog to be aggressive but to be under control when aggressive. You wouldn't use an agitation muzzle on a pet dog unless you are also training them to be a guard dog or some other role in which aggression is favored.

    My favorite so far. I have a rescue mix Grt Pyr, GSD, St Bernard that everyone (vets, kennels) thinks is an Anatolian shepherd. And she loves grooming as much as Samson here. In fact, at this moment she is sedated ahead of an in-home vet visit for another attempt to get blood samples and vaccines. We are maybe an hour away from you, and I wish so much that I could bring her to you for at least some advice on how to care for her coat. I think it is more GSD than the other two breeds, but still want to do right by her. I'm used to lab mixes. This one is a whole new world! So much what I see in Samson, too.

    That must be a beautiful mix. Niles, our Lab/Neuphie, was a Rescue, too. He was found as a Puppy on the side of a Highway.

    i think i can see the inner dilema doggo here faces. he realy wants the human to be buddies with him but those damned strange things human uses terrify it. i can only hope that he can build up confidence over few such lovely sessions as this one. also gorgeous doggo.

    Vanessa, you were brave to groom Samson without a second person. He seems like a "Sammy" to me. Samson knows his size matters when it comes to resisting certain things. But he is really a Giant Floofy Marshmallow in his nature. His grooming turned out beautifully! WOOF! 🐶💟

    You have such an amazing way with the animals in your care. It goes beyond experience (Which can never be UNDER-appreciated/respected!), and knowledge of the various Breeds/Species you're handling. YOU just have an amazing intellect/empathy with them, and even when 'They' are stressed-out, I've no doubt you and your mental/spiritual ('Zen' if you will?) reassures them, at least to some degree. For the scared ones? Every time I watch one of your videos, and with this handsome ball of fluff, his 'Trigger' being nails, leads me to believe someone in the past clipped him far too short, causing him pain (It HURTS! Just do it to yourself someday and see). So now he's reacting to his feets/nails being handled. Makes sense. Our one Miniature, a Rescue, was also terrified of being bathed. I had zero doubt it was because his 'Owner's' Son abused him during it (He outright had problems with ANY 'Man' handling him), so his first bath (Tied to a backyard tree in grass), saw him trembling in fear, eye rolling white, and ready to 'Fight-to-the-Death' as me and my partner began. We were extremely patient, rewarding, but firm. It was going to be done, and he WAS going to survive it (And so were we!). Using warm water (Not well-water-cold), calm, rewarding scritches, treats when it was over, and positive reinforcement, within months he was looking FORWARD to his 'Bath time,' extra good attention, etc.. The walks into town, and picnics at the park(s) was always such fun, too! So much in how they're handled/trained by their Human(s) matters. It isn't the 'Breed' (aka 'Violent Breed(s)' theory), it's their Humans! TLDR reply, I know you're a very busy person, but, I hope others who watch you, what you do and why/how you do things, will help THEM in handling/treating their critters, so everyone involved has a good time and that layer of stress/fear is removed, or never has a chance to start! Thank you, ever-so-much! :-D

    I love how he was so torn about wanting your attention, but not wanting that attention to be a bath. A stubborn old dog that lives life on their own terms is adorable in it's own way.
