This was very helpful. I wanted to buy a couple bird houses but no clue where to place it. I assumed a tree but also assumed I would use the birdhouse as a feeder. Didn’t realize I would need a feeder too.

It's a roosting box, not nesting..holes at bottom..heat rising in house..warm. Often wood peckers use roosting holes in nature and boxes..

How many birdhouses would you recommend for 1/2 acre

Can you do squirrel houses?

Do you have to have Mesh inside a bird house? What is the reasoning?

How to protect them from red squirrels

I bought a bird condo which has multiple houses. I am trying to provide a safe place for the sparrows. They seem to like community living. You said maintain the house? What do you mean? Am i supposed to clean up after them? Lol

Yes. After the nest is abandoned you throw that away. Or they will get sick and/or with parasites.

Birds live in trees.......Lets cut down the trees and make homes for birds.....We need to start tearing down peoples homes And give them Tents ....

Not all birdhouses are made with new wood, I've seen some nice ones made with old barn wood
