Something I read someone say that I love: When Discord says "I have seen your show, and I know how you die" he wasn't just talking about "he entered someone's mind then got erased" aspect. He was talking about the fact that he died with someone selflessly sacrificing themselves for their loved ones. So Discord did exactly what Stan did.

You don't recognize... your old home.” Genuinely really one of the best endings in the entire franchise to me, Discor saving all his loved ones, Equestria and being a troll til the very end. After all the years of being worried and scorned over this match, seeing all my friends who are family to me, some of every first best friends I ever made around here, and myself credited for assisting in research, I couldn’t be happier to see this episode turn out so well.

It genuinely makes me happy that this isn't even considered a victory for either of them. While Bill won the fight physically, Discord both saved the day, and will return soon enough. But, he still lost. Bill won the fight, but was taken out of his weirdmageddon, which ruined all his hard work, and is now stuck there for another few hundred years.

One thing I thought about is that when Discord says "I know how you die", it can be interpreted as Discord acknowledging that *he knows he won't be the one to kill him*. He knows that Bill will meet his end in Stanly's mind anyways. That even if Bill gets out, it will only be to go straight to his canonical death.

Discord’s final lines were so badass and terrifying and the emotion in Discords tone is legit gave me chills. “I seen your show Bill, I KNOW HOW YOU DIE!” & “Haha- but still I’m surprised, you don’t recognize your own HOME” Discord gets serious! sounds so raw and badass I love it! I rewind to that scene because of how good his tone of voice gets.

@@BiffWeed How does one watch over a 100 episodes in less than a month? (Show has 9 seasons most of them having 24-26 episodes with only one of them having 13.) Gravity falls is far more manageable to pull off. Hell, one can argue you finish the show in less than a week if you have enough free time to pull it off.

@@DangerDan64 100 episodes a month is easy... as long as you have time and patience/motivation. you can watch 10 episodes a day, but that's somewhat overkill, still to watch the whole show you might need that. 25x8=200+13 is 213, so you'd have to watch 213/30=7.1 episodes per day, round it to 7 and watch extra episodes for the last week and you're good. This might be wrong, but I think I'm using the correct expressions. Btw this is 2 hours and 20 minutes of episodes per day, plus or minus, so somewhat plausible.

This is honestly my new favorite episode in the show. Everything from the analysis, editing, fight, etc oozes passion. A huge love letter to the community at large, and it’s the fight that makes me the happiest being a part of this community.

yeiy 2 month late, but that doesnt make sense, discord is waaay beyond cipher paycheck. it battle jus like a lot of death battle should have been a 1 side massacre, cipher isn't even remotely close to the lvl of pawa discord is supposed to posses, specially if you pull out the "all media is canon" card that they apparently did. discord was nerfed to oblivion cus the narrative says so xD

This has to be one of my favorite episodes, because weirdly enough, the episode felt just long enough, and escalated in a way that didn't feel rushed to me. That almost never happens in modern death battle

I never noticed all the water running down when the environment flipped! This episode just gets better and better, holy crap.

I think that ending brings a whole new interpretation of Discords "I know how you die" line. Like he was aware he couldn't win, but knew Bill could be outsmarted and made him tunnelvision, just like in the final part of Weirdmageddon.

Having the winner of a Death Battle win the battle but lose the war was pretty brilliant.

Discord tricking bill and sacrificing himself to protect his friend seems like a rule break for death battle because they try to cut off emotions to have them fight at their fullest but the funny thing is rule break is what they're good at so it makes sense story wise

discord could won very easely tho... he is way beyond bill power... he was nerfed by the story xD just like in the show!

There are so many little details in this animation. I noticed on my first viewing that when Discord and Bill are fighting with their toy versions, you can see that while Discord is noticeably more beat up and injured, Bill only has a few scratches and is more annoyed than anything. This is great foreshadowing and just a great conveyance of the dynamic of the fight.

Such a great episode. It’s rare where I’m almost happier that Discord (my preferred character by a mile) lost. The storytelling is almost amazing

As someone who doesnt care for either series, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the battle. They clearly spent so much time and effort into making this match worth it and it shows. While I was rooting for Discord since he was the hero for the match, I knew the second he said "I know how you die" he was going to recreate what happened in gravity falls and sacrafice himself. The fact he saved Equastria and sent Bill back into the nightmare realm was insane. Probably my 3rd favorite death battle. Up there with Mickey vs Yoda and Sauron vs Litch king.

In regard to fluttershy being in danger by a being in the same ball park as discord power wise (seeing as how he reacted when she was simply kidnapped by the bug) I find it hard to accept he would have played around, unless he had a plan for how he wanted this battle to go, even if that meant being killed to halo respawn back in Equestria. I love the theory that since Discord can’t die as long as chaos exists, he made the sacrifice play not only to keep his friends safe, but to check out how they would react if he died permanently. That coupled with him remembering what fluttershy said “What if you had some pony you could discuss chaos based magic with?” makes Discord want to see if he can come back and talk with Bill later as the only other person he can do these kinds of things with.

Honestly, this is my new favorite episode of the season and is tied with Saitama vs Popeye as my second favorite episode of the show. All of the effort and passion that was put into the episode was well worth it. The build up to this episode made it feel like an event, and for all intents and purposes, it absolutely was. Also, don’t worry, you might show up later on in the season. Remember Steven vs Star and Korra vs Storm? Edit: I was right

I went into this knowing nothing about Discord. And even though I’m a fan of Gravity Falls and like Bill as a villain I still didn’t really thing I’d would actually care about the episode… BUT BOY WAS I WRONG! This is definitely my favorite of the season

Bill's tunnel vision on beating discord is what left him to being tricked. Like Bill wouldn't be focusing on anything other than Discord because he views him as a legit threat. I love how they added his tunnel vision into this because Bill doesn't care about anything that isn't a threat to him, so yeah he wouldn't notice the enviroment around him changing.

This battle makes me both happy yet sad. I kind of wish that Ballot Winner battles would get an alternate ending, just so that these feel extra special.

@@agentglowstick8704really? That really sucks and is a shame. I would’ve loved to have one of Little Mac and Olimar, but if it means Smash Bracket can still keep going, then I understand. I just really wish Smash Bracket got the support and money it deserved.

The fact that Discord died laughing after fooling Bill and ruining his plan, and in spite of Bill. Its perfect. Even more so because Bill knows that too. Bill knows that even though he won, so did his opponent. Even if Bill got backs to equestria at some point, the fact he; a so call 'all seeing god', couldn't even see his opponent's true plan until its too late and that same opponent laughing at him even in death. His pride is without a doubt not letting go of that anytime soon.

The closest thing I have to a complaint is the biggest nitpick I can think of: in the track, Discords lines are delivered in his voice more or less, but Bills lines are more or less just Brandon’s regular voice. And that’s like not even a complaint ,it’s at most .0000000001% off the 1000000000% this episode gets (and the song is perfect too). Also, I read someone else’s comment on Reddit that the letter Discord writes probably includes instructions to Pinkie Pie on how to throw a party so chaotic hed be able to return to ease, which just sounds perfect.

Best episode of the season imo I think it’s great and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the season has for us

Fun fact, the puppet thing isn't just for show. Discord actually tried to send a pony into a dimension where there was a Mexican sock puppet in the show because he got jealous of them getting close to Fluttershy. Discord's plan was to kick Bill out of Equestria to save Fluttershy and it happened AFTER the hand puppet scene!

Easily one of my new favorites of all time. Its a love letter to not just both characters and their series but the entire community as a whole. This episode is near perfect and Im so happy one of my most wanted episodes turned out this good

Whoa! Nemesis watched almost all of MLP and Equestria Girls?! And he’s also a fellow Sunset Shimmer fan?! Hell yes! Now that’s some serious dedication!

At the very start of the fight in the weirdmaggedon, i genuinely couldn't tell if it was directly out of the show or not, it was awesome

For the ending thing with Bill it says “reality is an illusion, the universe is a hologram, buy gold, BYE!!!” Also after Bill blows up Discord’s head and Discord comes out of a line, behind the line is the place where Wiz and Boomstick do the cutaway gags meaning that after Discord makes Wiz and Boomstick get real he comes in and just pisses on Bill, f*cking legend

This man deep dived into one of the most gripping and mind-bending animated television shows (and Gravity Falls) just so he could have a full comprehensive understanding of this death battle. Mad respect.

Bill Vs Discord is just top tier in terms of KZread crossover content and ended up walking away with being my 3rd favorite episode of all time. If the season finale can end up half as good as this I'd be more than willing to call S10 my favorite season of the show

I loved this fight, even though I've barely seen any My Little Pony I was still kinda able to get a soft understanding of the character. Everything seemed like something the characters would do, the way Bill won but still lost is just perfect. The final scene of how he was able to just put his hand into his head and grab Discord.

Well, TBH, Bill only won because of a technicality in their rules because it went into a stalemate, where they gauged the ability of the participant to come back from being erased from existence. Bill can come back quickly as long as he lives rent free inside of someone's head, while Discord takes some time to come back via Chaos Energy. The fight came down to literally not who's the strongeat, but who can come back from being erased first. Discord is indeed slightly stronger than Bill and wins if the fight stretches for thousands of years, but this technicality means that by Death Battle Rules, he lost because his healing factor takes too long.

Love the review. Wish you talked about the Green Day parody and the anvil. Those got me to chuckle, and nobody talks about them Edit: I also think the ending was directly called out with Discord saying, "I know how you die." It's likely a stretch, but considering he sacrifices himself to stop weirdmagedon is similar to Stanford. And it helps with thinking that the note Discord writes at the start was him telling the ponies what happened, thinking he knows he won't kill Bill. And maybe the beaker is Rick vs. The Doctor?

Discord may have lost the battle, but he won the war. Let's see Bill is stuck in the Nightmare dimension

Bill Cipher can't actually destroy Souls. He attacked Dipper and Mabel's mind and blew a whole through Dippers chest. If it was in fact their souls, wouldn't Dipper be dead and Stanley would be dead if it his soul. And Discord can straight-up hypnotized bill and make him forget sertin abilities such as to seeing the future and to see all possibilities. Discord the can even cover himself completely in unicorn hair. sure it won't get rid of Bill's powers, but it would make it impossible for Bill to attack Discord. And I do believe Discord in fact would take the fight seriously, considering the times he was defeated to weaker beings that he had no fear in losing to he was taken by surprise. But he would take Bill seriously knowing that he is an extremely powerful being with the possibility destroy the universe, so I do believe Discord would take him seriously. But that wouldn't even matter because Discord could beat a being that was just as powerful as himself and that being could destroy multiverses, while Bill on the other hand can only destroy one universe one at a time. And my final reasoning for why Discord wins this battle is because it is shown in the My Little Pony show that Discord can survive only off of Chaos. And him fighting an opponent like Bill who caused chaos 24/7 is just going to keep Discord alive. And that is my reasoning to why I believe this Death battle is rigged.

I hated the fact that Discord ''lost'' (tho actually can come back without help while Bill can't) but I just can't bring myself to not love everything else about the episode. The worst part of the episode was it's trailer honestly

Doesn't Discord take far too long to come back without help, though? If I remember, that's one of the reasons Death Battle qualified it as a loss.

@@olserknam Yes, they do. And they do have one for Discord too if I remember right. But OP said that Discord could come back as a justification for him being angry that he lost and I just wanted to point it out that it doesn't count.

This review actually pointed out things I didn’t even notice, the change to the world after discords snap for example, thanks man!!!

I have been waiting for this matchup to happen for years, and once it was announced it won the 2D poll, I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited for an upcoming matchup. This episode was literally everything I could’ve wanted and more. This is easily my new favorite episode of not just Death Battle, but any versus show period, and this review made me love this episode more than I already do. This might honestly be my favorite DB review you’ve done so far.

This battle feels like this would be written in an actual crossover between the two.

Legit this is my fav episode of the show now. It was such a love letter to not just Gravity Falls and MLP, but the Death Battle Community. It was a joy to watch and seeing my name pop up made me so happy I can't even begin to describe it. Thanks for the name drop btw

Not only is this one of my top 5 episodes of all time, but in my personal opinion is my favorite of your reviews. "Bill may be an all seeing equilateral deity. But I'm just a pumpkin" with the PERFECTLY timed cut to live action, had me rolling along with several other jokes. I recognize the amount of work you've put in to not be "the negative one" like everyone says you are, you keep nitpicks to just that, nitpicks, but still give them the time their worth because they are genuine flaws, but don't bring down the overall experience in the episode. You did a great job Nemesis, here's to you

Hey man, I really like your reviews, the amount of details for the whole episode you talk about is just really nice to listen and understand

Bill at the end: Won’t you shake a poor sinner’s hand?

Fairly certain that there are two kinds of people: Those who think this is the best episode of all time, and those who would put this on their top 10, if not top 5. This was not only just another death battle, but one that told a damn good story. So much so that I didn’t realize until you pointed it out how Discord had seemingly changed the location of the fight when they were sock puppets. It was perfect how birth were shown off and how we could argue that at some point in this fight (whether at the start, Discord changing locations or when he tried to take out Bill how he went out in Gravity Falls), he knew he wasn’t going to win and this changed the fight to “trap bill” compared to just defeat him. The other thing I loved is how Bill dealt with this. Yes, he may or may not know how he lost against the Pines, but it felt like Discord mistook the ending. If we think about it, Bill “died” when he invaded Stan’s mind (while he had no means to escape during the mind eraser), but if you invade Bill’s mind, he could still likely do something like reach into his own mind and pull out Discord. Either way, this was definitely one of the best episodes we got as of late, if not ever. It feels like the champions who voted chose wisely and we can only hope Cole vs Mercer is able to tap into a percentage of what we got here.

I think this is the first episode where both sides of the fans can be truly happy, Bill won the fight, and discord was an absolute chadsicle.

This was so creative and art style constantly changing is so fitting.

God, this episode is just Amazing! I love everything about it, Animation, visuals, editing, voice acting, and overall narrative! It's down right perfect. Also it's always Wholesome to see Nem incredibly happy about a battle.

Its a little detail but I like how Discord gives bill the finger after he slaps him in the mindscape And I LOVE how in one of Bills code sentence thingys he said he doesn’t even like chicken wings referring to the crossover colloseum episode 😂

Great review I knew I could rely you on you in pointing out the details of what makes an already great battle and analysis in to an ever better one. The episode truly felt like an absolute highlight of the series of the shows and death battle as a whole. They did such an amazing job.

The best episode in the season thus far. The rest will hopefully get even more crazy! Next Time I have no attachment for, but I’m happy it’s finally happening.

Do you think Bill crushed Discord with a knight in particular because...you know...knights slay dragons? That was the attack that technically "killed" Discord, after all

Nemesis, it is good hear you are sounding better mentally during this video. You sound like you have more passion about this and you thoroughly enjoyed this episode, even saying it's your second favorite in the whole series. Glad to hear you doing better and I hope you keep doing what you enjoy. You deserve to, and don't listen to any of the haters. They can be punted into orbit. Also, I agree with you fully on the episode. One of the best in the series and easily one of the best this season so far, which is suprising since we have had some pretty good episodes this season in my eyes (Chosenborn, Vader/Obito, and the one you haven't watched and don't want to watch). Only very VERY minor things wrong that don't take away from it at all. A fitting episode for one of the ballot winners for this season and while I am concerned Colex may not be on the same level as Bill vs. Discord, I still think it will turn out good just by how the other 3D fights this season have gone. Anyways, enough with me rambling. Take care, Nem. Keep giving your opinion on Death Battle and let no haters say otherwise about it.

​@@Warking19 Meanwhile, I always feel like Nemesis' reviews are very balanced, pointing out flaws without feeling nitpicky and always acknowledging the good even in bad episodes.

One thing I really like about this Death Battle is that it has an actual narrative. It's not just Characters show up > contrive a reason to fight > fight > we have a winner (not that there's anything wrong with that) but there's an actual story going on that's bigger than the fight itself. I wish more Death Battles took place within a story like this one.

This episode is basically deadpool vs pinkie pie done right.

God this episode is fantastic, everything is perfection

One of the key reasons why this episode was so great is because it was storyboarded by John Mitchell, aka DYWTBA_Brony. Prior to working for Death Battle, he did reactions to various television shows here on KZread and took an especially great liking to MLP and Gravity Falls. You can even see his pony OC in the fight animation. It’s the “bootleg merchandise” that you see Bill glue onto his throne.

Oh really that’s so awesome he was the first channel I watched reacting to MLP back in the day, he’s one of the biggest reasons for joining the brony community at the time, that’s so cool how he got storyboard this episode

Discord should have won, since Chaos empowers him, and everything Bill does is Chaos. So by just doing what he was doing Bill should have been juicing Discord to the point where he should have been able to win.

The craziest thing is how Bill Cipher liked some of the things Discord did which is akin to S9 of MLP where Tirek and Chrysalis talk about how much better Discord used to be before he was “plagued” with Friendship. So them having Bill display some level of respect for what Discord can do vs what Discord was doing this all for. Like the final antagonist of MLP still not comprehending friendship and kindness, Bill also just doesn’t comprehend why Discord did what he did. Genuine masterpiece of writing and I genuinely don’t think Death Battle could ever pull off such character accuracy than Discord vs Bill imo I still think Discord should’ve won since he has more concrete proof of his scaling vs Bill’s more 'questionable' feats, but everything else was perfect

This episode made me *feel* things, and enjoy the show in a way I haven’t in a bit, at least to this degree. I love it so much, it was an immediate favorite and I’m so happy someone was able to put everything into words exactly why.

This episode feels as high effort as something that past seasons would reserve for a finale.

This might be my favorite Death Battle ever. I've been wanting Bill in one since forever, and this episode was absolutely phenomenal. From animation, to the twist, the ending, the voice acting, the character impressions, everything. I didn't expect this to be that good (like Sanji vs Lee), but thankfully I was proven wrong. Also, nice Bill W

This episode felt like what Strange vs Fate should’ve been

The amount of easter eggs to various memes, community members, matchups, etc. It's literally enough to make a book about. That's not even addressing the overall quality of the episode, and it doesn't take an over analyzer to say its fucking golden. The analysis, the debate, the fight, the track, the EVERYTHING that was put into here, words cannot describe how much this episode absolutely blew my mind. This episode isn't my favorite of the season, it's my favorite episode of the SHOW period. Any criticisms I may have would just be minor nitpicks that don't affect my opinion in the slightest. I can go on and on about how much i love this episode, but it would take all day if i did. An absolute. Flawless. 10/10.

Bill won the Battle But Discord won the war This episode was surprisingly great ♡ definite top tier material

I absolutely love how you came to the same conclusion as I did when I say that Bill won on the surface level to win the death battle, but Discord won in all the ways that matter. I honestly love the layered takes death battle has been doing with their wins and losses. This and Green Lantern vs Silver Surfer have some very satisfying and kinda layered endings and I hope the show kinda keeps up with that.

Beautiful review! The only thing I would add is that bill seemed a little to serious in the first half of the fight. That being said… will you watch and review Guts vs Dimitri now that you in a good mood please?😁
