You seem like a decent person. I’d encourage you not to visit Phoenix. The traffic is miserable and the drivers are (To my Midwest sensibilities) unpredictable goobers who view a turn signal as an admission of defeat and waiving someone to go on as a challenge. Before I moved out here: I’ve never had someone pace me for over a mile to prevent me changing lanes, Never had anyone throw a partially full beer can at my car while we’re both driving 75+MPH, Never had a police officer flip me off, never seen anyone Injecting something while driving. I’ve see it now, and I don’t think I’m the better for it. I used to drive a box truck up to Chicago all the time, frequently in icey conditions. That was way easier than my first year learning to drive amongst the castoffs from LA. It’s some beyond Thunderdome shit.

This podcast is 98% conversation and 2% interview like questions which is great compared to other formats like late night tv

So Bill did get his helicopter license. He talked about wanting to get it in one of his last Netflix specials.

This clip hits so much more in 2021 after Kobe’s death. Like I see why he took a helicopter everywhere because apparently everything is right there and not so far away but I’m guessing from Bill’s statement; Kobe’s Pilot just got too comfortable with flying a heli.

Thinking about Kobe’s death makes me sick to my stomach not only we lost him but his daughter to, his other family could’ve easily been with them. It already wiped out one whole family could’ve taken another so absolutely tragic.

I just got my helicopter license in LA, too. WAAAY fucking harder than I expected it to be, lol. Apart from learning the controls, which is crazy in itself because helicopters are so inherently unstable, there's all the radio and airspace stuff to deal with. Really keeps you busy.

The Burning Sensation I get the feeling from you that you have yet to receive your license, either bc you’ve not finished training or you haven’t even begun but would like to tell people that you fly helicopters. Idk, I feel like if you’ve been flying for a year, you wouldn’t still be talking about how hard it is and all the “stuff” you have to deal with. Everybody knows that shit, you don’t have to have a license to know that, lol.

Helicopters are safe as long as proper maintainance is done and the pilot keeps his wits about him in an emergency. And, has over all good judgement. There are old pilots and bold pilots but, rarely both. I don't know the conclusion of Kobe's crash investigation but, often crashes occur do to bad judgement. The pilot prolly shouldn't have flown that day. Go for a demo ride some time. Best money you'll ever spend. No doors if you can.

A cautious pilot is the best kind of pilot. Imo. I don't fly helicopters but was brought up flying light aircraft and ultralights and being a cautious pilot is just the only way to fly.

So glad Bill is a positive ambassador for piloting. Flying is a joy. Yeah, LA is small. We DO think of driving in endless time, not miles. But it's only 32 minutes from Burbank or Van Nuys to Catalina (in a C-172, but same idea).
