@@dulla93 Well it hasn't been trash for a good stretch when he was playing. There's more to basketball than just money, Lakers and the Celtics you know. I admire every 'low market' team that makes some results. That was a fun team to watch for a while. Conley outplayed Chris Paul in every head to head game i've seen. He basically outplayed every other NBA PG in those couple of years. But true, Memphis never had good shooting, and they never achieved much.

It gets worse. If a player plays standard defense and the ref calls a blocking foul, the player can no longer play defense as well as he can't give as much contact as usual. Likewise, the offensive player can give even more contact because he knows the defender will get called for a block if he gives contact back. This is why Dwayne Wade got a shooting foul called for him every time he went into the lane against the Mavs in the finals. You can't defend a player if they call a foul on you every time they go into the lane. You might as well just let him dunk. Mark Cuban of the Mavs was furious and everyone knows DWade got all the free foul calls that series. A ref can really determine who wins a game if the teams are at all close in skill level.

Always about the spread. Gives them plausible denability. Have not watched pro sports in years, just snippets and usually basketball or football. Find both have become completely boring. Anyway, watched an entire Packers v Bears game last year for the first time in at least 20 years and saw several plays that made zero sense to me. Then it hit me these games are rigged. When I mentioned it to my friend watching with me he plunged the knife in with his response back, "Lance Armstrong:"

Another thing NBA refs would do . Is they would call an equal amount of calls for both teams . So it doesn’t look fixed . BUT . For the team they’re betting on . They call fouls that will get them to the free throw line . 2 birds 1 stone . You’re getting opposition key players in foul trouble . And they’re getting their team free points .

NBA players are not overpaid. The league pulls in revenue in the billions because of the talent and hard work of those players. If anything, since roughly half the revenue goes to team owners who don't do shit except rip off cities and park their money in a tax free "non-profit", the players are UNDERPAID. Get rid of the owners, make the teams public institutions/clubs owned by the municipalities they play in, and give the players, coaches, trainers, and refs their fair share.

Well by that logic all artists shouldn't be paid as they are because they aren't actually producing anything besides entertainment. I know guys that get through their productive 9-5 because they love basketball, and without that entertainment he may not be as productive. Entertainment = Production and they should be paid based on how much entertainment they provide to their companies.

MLB is easy to rig too, I remember in the 2012 and 2013 playoffs every pitch Justin Verlander threw was a strike. Fox had the digital box for the strike zone on tv and he was getting calls way out of the strike zone. Meanwhile Sonny Gray had to throw it right over the middle or it was a ball. I'm not saying that series was fixed, but it would be easy to do. MLB has no official strike zone, every ump is different.

Wow,we talked about this for years, about the NBA fixing games to extend series and sell seats
2nd Season of "F Is For Family" is pretty damn fantastic.

This was the 2002 NBA Western Conference Finals Game 6. Lakers were on the brink of elimimation until the refs start screwing up the calls. Other than the allegation of gambling, NBA was also accused of favoring the Los Angeles of winning the series being the "bigger market" than Sacramento.
@Dnero518

Yeah I don't understand why they wouldn't go the other way and let the Kings go to the finals to try and get their first chip instead of giving LA another shot when they already had like 13 titles at that point. I'd still be sick about that if I was a Kings fan, was crazy.
I remember reading that the NBA ref they referenced was fixing games mostly by affecting the over/under.

That ref screwed the Suns in a series against the Spurs a few years back, that was probably the best shot at a championship for the franchise since Barkley. I love basketball, but it's almost unwatchable how they've changed the rules over the past several years.

It wasn't only about controling who wins, the spread was way more important. You can see many games when a team is out of reach and secured the win and in the last few minutes, if refs start calling weird or absurd fouls, you know what's up....
@thyslop1737
Жыл бұрын
Always about the spread. Gives them plausible denability. Have not watched pro sports in years, just snippets and usually basketball or football. Find both have become completely boring. Anyway, watched an entire Packers v Bears game last year for the first time in at least 20 years and saw several plays that made zero sense to me. Then it hit me these games are rigged. When I mentioned it to my friend watching with me he plunged the knife in with his response back, "Lance Armstrong:"
Wow this just opened my eyes, I didn't know the NBA fixed games.
The Milwaukee vs Philadelphia ecf in 2001 was even worse lol
Whenever, and wherever there is big money, there is corruption. Why make less money when you don't have to ?
Joe “that’s crazzzzzy” Rogan
Soccer, basketball and football have the greatest opportunity for lousy or corrupt umpiring . Baseball less so. Sports like golf or curling require almost no umpiring at all.

Kinda changing sports on ya hahaha
Another thing NBA refs would do . Is they would call an equal amount of calls for both teams . So it doesn’t look fixed . BUT . For the team they’re betting on . They call fouls that will get them to the free throw line . 2 birds 1 stone . You’re getting opposition key players in foul trouble . And they’re getting their team free points .

What Tim Donaghy was actually doing was point shaving. Either calling less or more fouls to try and make sure the game goes over or under whatever he bet on the total score.

Nope. Players can shave points on his own team. Tim was fixing games cuz he could effect both teams
F is for Family!.....I knew his voice was familiar.
Its more about game totals than it is who wins, you call fouls to get teams into the bonus quicker and teams go to the line to run up the score easy.

In any other officiated sport, teams making the playoff can catch a hot streak and win a championship... except for the NBA, you absolutely must have a superstar for the NBA's finals ratings.
nothing is safe anymore
NBA WCF 2002 NEVER FORGET
If there's one area Joe should improve on, it's his knowledge of mainstream sports.
He said in the meeting before the finals we are not going to give AI any fouls
I remember the golden age of NBA gambling and the king of the point shavers: Jack Molinas! And the NCAA king: C Webb!
The NBA front office instructed the refs “that the kings do not advance past that series.”
Joe sounds like a woman when he talks about any other sport than fighting. He has zero knowledge on it lol

NBA players are not overpaid. The league pulls in revenue in the billions because of the talent and hard work of those players. If anything, since roughly half the revenue goes to team owners who don't do shit except rip off cities and park their money in a tax free "non-profit", the players are UNDERPAID. Get rid of the owners, make the teams public institutions/clubs owned by the municipalities they play in, and give the players, coaches, trainers, and refs their fair share.

dsrtdawg1 They're producing entertainment. Don't like it, don't watch it. That's how they make so much. 12 year olds begging parents for jerseys and going to home games. Start a petition if you feel so strongly about it.
@jakefrink5927

Well by that logic all artists shouldn't be paid as they are because they aren't actually producing anything besides entertainment. I know guys that get through their productive 9-5 because they love basketball, and without that entertainment he may not be as productive. Entertainment = Production and they should be paid based on how much entertainment they provide to their companies.
remember when the NBA was good? 30 years is a long time
MLB is easy to rig too, I remember in the 2012 and 2013 playoffs every pitch Justin Verlander threw was a strike.
Bill tried to plug in his new show and the topic continued on with refs
Warriors Cavs game 6 tech on Curry and Dray. Obviously fixed to go to game 7.
its easier to not call a foul when it is, rather than calling a foul even though there were none.
Bill burrs Segway show plug 😆
He had inside information about reffs being byess Alen Iverson had it the worst.
Doesnt take much to fix basketball games... pretty much every offense has something you can call, so what you call is subjective.
Some people really have laser vision for certain things....Bill obviously could see what most couldn't!
“Every Michael Jordan playoff series since 1991”
Shaq made all his free throws lol in the clutch come on man
The NBA is all about shoe sales now anyway. Championships don't matter
Ncaa is the perfect environment for refs match fixing. I see it literally every day
This is why ever one shoot's 3's
7:17 fucking bill is hilarious
The 76ers vs the Bucks in 2001 was also badly officiated so that the league could have Allen Iverson face off against the Lakers
Tim Donaghy wasn't a ref during the Lakers vs Kings game.
Here's the most interesting part that no one's talking about is the NBA actually has the salary cap for best players meaning it can only get x amount. If they didn't have the cap on their best players guys like LeBron would probably be making double what he makes. Expect that in the new contract they negotiate from the players union
How does dude watch the NBA and every Celtics game and never heard of Mike Conley? 🤔 😂
Mike Conley is a stud. Griz don’t get national love but nobody wants to play them or use too.
