    Do you do any preventive maintenance since you’re up in Canada to prevent the salty winter rods from rusting, bed, body and front bumper? Or just wash often? Getting harder to find clean bodied third gens in the north. I’m in North Dakota and it’s not uncommon to see 4th gens all rocked chopped from gravel and rusting where the paint flakes off.

    Looks great. You should get ahold of the manufacture of the turbo and make sure that 1/8” npt port and fitting is big enough for the oil feed, last thing you want to do is starve that new turbo. You can just drill out the oil filter housing and tap new treads. But keep up the great work brother.

  • @Cumminslife

    @Cumminslife

    5 жыл бұрын

    the 1/8npt will be more than adequate. The restriction built into the turbo is far smaller than the 1/8npt fitting.

    So you run an exhaust brake and engine brake? If not that's a loud ass exhaust brake. The switch on the shifter is for the engine brake right? If you are running engine brake, where did you get it?

    my truck is used 100% for towing. so twins seems like a silly amount of money for me. im wondering if i can get the same 30lbs of boost at a lower EGT by going to a larger turbo. i know ill get more lag but again. not really a big deal as im so low geared my boost gauge barely moves until hwy speeds anyway.

    is that 3" charge pipe stainless ? Also, how does the turbo affect the EGT? Does a larger turbo lower EGT or raise them, and why? i cant quite wrap my head around that? Thanks and great job on another upgrade!

    On the exhaust brake I see it has a piston type actuator. Is it vacuum operated or pressure? Would be cool if you did a video on the install. Thanks. I think you need heavier valve springs too?

  • @Cumminslife

    @Cumminslife

    5 жыл бұрын

    Its pressure operated. I use a 3 way valve connected to my onboard air to run it. Brake has been on the truck for years no issues. No need for valve springs. On an auto truck you will need a way of holding throttle valve wide open with brake. Air solenoid works or run a full manual valve body. If you don't actuate tv valve trans wont have enough holding power on clutches. Burn up trans going down hill.
