BIG CRIMPIN' - Building AC SYSTEM for C10 LS Swap - UTX

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Today at Ugly Truck, we’re talking air conditioning condensers, fittings, and hoses, and how to hook up the A/C system on this 1984 squarebody C10 LS swap. Jerry talks about which condenser to use, and we get started by flushing the AC system. We install a new orifice tube and accumulator, and reuse the original C10 high pressure line and condenser. Using some adapter fittings on the LS Denso 10S17F compressor, we make some new custom AC lines. This crimp tool makes fabricating new hoses easy!

Really cool modification to make it work with the standard hoses. Anything to make off the shelf parts fit and work like OEM is the best!

We love using off-the-shelf OEM parts every chance we get. It just makes things so much simpler, and is usually the "budget friendly" option. Thanks for tuning in!

Thanks for the tip on the flush solvent, I'd been looking for something a bit more volatile than the citrus flush that I'd used previously, and which was an absolute pain to get fully out of the cooling system afterward. I'm getting ready to flush and rebuild a system on a stock vehicle, as well as building a system for an LS swapped car, so a gallon has already been ordered, and another might be needed in time.

  • @UglyTruckExperience

Hey Allen. I think I remember trying some type of citrus flush also at one point. I would love it if this solvent wasn't as pricey as it is, but does work great. Back in the day when I first started doing this stuff we used hot soapy water to flush everything out. Those days are over. Thanks for watching. Jerry

This is definitely the coolest video you guys have done yet! I just got my lines finished up. I bought all the tools, gauges, pump and that same crimper tool. I got all the fittings and hose from cold hose website. Unfortunately I think my brand new amazon ac compressor is junk. The clutch was slipping and smelled like electrical fire. I'll be taking that back out this week, sad face...

@@UglyTruckExperience it's awesome, really fast! I put that brain tooley truck Norris cam in there. Once I get the air conditioner running all I have left to do is the fuel tanks with the in tank pumps. I just have a cheap frame rail pump now with the corvette filter/regulator. I'll be studying all your videos on pumps, wiring and dual tank setup when I get to that part. I have the videos saved. Really appreciate all the work you guys are putting in!
