The main telltale sign is. “No you can’t see my car” please make sure you can see the car and your not loosing money!

Two things to keep in mind to avoid these scams: 1) eBay has NOTHING to do with items seen on other sites. 2). No legitimate seller will ever ask you to pay with gift cards

So if some one says they sent a motorcycle to ebay to hold so they don’t need to be present for the transaction and they asked me to use an American Express gift card it’s a scam ? I found an add that’s to good to be true on offer up and for some reason their trying to say it’s now being held by ebay motors

@okamishinja Also you should lookup GetAround(GA) if it's available in your area. GA usually doesn't have as many hosts as Turo, so not as much competition and the cars are rented hourly, so you earn much more than on Turo(if your car is rented out alot). I average about $5 hr on GA(after fees) and my car is rented out between 10 - 24 hours a day, so I make about $50 - $120 per day. GA also includes a no-deductible insurance policy for hosts(40% of earnings). While GA takes alot from the host at 40%- they also charge the guest alot- like $10 - $12 an hour, so you can earn good. Because I get newer cars from ebayMotors- I can earn more than other hosts. It's also less work than on Turo because you only check in on your once per week! 👍

This video just saved me from being scammed.

I just found a car posted on Facebook Market but after reaching out, the email had the exact same story as well as the EBay promises of shipping. Glad I found this video

Yeah you know I just did that too. When I went to the store to buy gift cards the clerk there basically told me the same thing and she wouldn't sell me the cards saying it was a scam. I may be glad I took her advice

same, I found a honda om FB market dor $1,400. But they are on vacation mode so I had to email them. they gave me a story about how they moved and left the car with ebay shipping center and they will ship theu car once i give them shipping info n stuff. But, I don’t have to pay until I get the car and actually want it. IDK If I should trust it.

Some days back I fell into the trap of a scammer and I lost $9400,that had me frustrated then I told a colleague at work and she told me she was also scammed $15000 but got it back with the help of hacksting on IG with just a little fee. She gave me his phone number and I messaged him on WhatsApp, he asked me a few questions and also proof of scam then after 24hrs he got my money recovered and the scammer tracked.Thanks to hacksting, I'm grateful

I just experienced this. I saw a post on the letgo app and reached out to the seller. I received a similar email and immediately thought it was a scam. I came to KZread and sure enough...it is. Glad I had a sense of discernment.

Same here! I saw this 2010 Jeep Wrangler for 2000. She says his husband died last month and she wants to get rid of it. She also told me that she got a new job (she’s a “marine doctor”) and she moved back to her hometown in Kansas but makes no sense because no one is getting jobs because of covid-19. Both emails say pretty much everything all these replies say. So thanks god I read all this.

its crazy that people are still trying to scam on this website, i remember same thing happen to me with this 2010 toyota camry on craigslist with 80k for 1,500, this person had the same BS story, asking me to send them my address and some other info, luckily im extremely careful when come down to situations like this because of a past experience that i almost got stuck into, i literally asked the person to send the the eBay motors listing since it was posted on there after that never heard back for them. these websites always say don't take or send any payment method other then CASH MONEY.

You guys can figure out its a scam because 1 its not actually listed on ebay 2 they want you to pay with gift cards 3 they mention it has to sell quick or they have to leave soon for medical, military, or reasons which would make them unable to sell after too long in the deal. 4 try mentioning paypal and tell them to ship first and when it arrives you will pay. They will most likely not respond

We’ll thank God I researched first and me wanting to see the vehicle for test drive.

Bastards tried to gyp me too. Only thing they did was waste my time. "She" told me her husband died 2 months ago and wants to sell it cause it brings memories. And she's selling it so low because "she's" getting deployed soon and doesn't wanna pay storage and insurance. The price for the car was too good to be true. Sad people in this world to sink so low.

Be careful if you are not sure go to a ind dealer recommended instead of risking your money with buyers who may try to pull a fast one, never be in a hurry to buy a dealer might be the last you buy from, but what recourse will you have if bought as seen.

It’s pretty simple. You give eBay your money, and if the car isn’t as advertised, then you get your money back. If eBay can’t stop scammers, perhaps cryptocurrency smart contracts will be a better bet. Just give it a few more years

Rule of thumb..... IF IT'S PRICED TO GOOD TO BE TRUE, THEN IT MOST LIKELY ISN'T TRUE! They'll always try to convince you that they're out of the country, or very sick and need to sell immediately. If you fell for that shit, you got what you deserved. Period .

My girlfriend just went thru this n wuz outed $2700. I bought an 86 Camaro thru Facebook for $1200 with clean title, and her stepdad saw a $1500 2006 Silverado so we looked into it. It wuz listed on Facebook and we got in contact with the "seller" by email. We had to pay $800 "insurance" which wuz to be refunded when we received truck, then had to pay a "border fee" of $460 in Oklahoma. When I received that email I knew it wuz fishy. I didn't think of it until today I never got a tracking number, and the truck supposedly shipped out yesterday from Nebraska. Everything paid thru eBay gift cards. The "seller" had not responded back today when inquiring tracking, nor has "eBay". Be careful.

Don't buy a car on line like eBay . Finally you lost your deposit when you change your mind.

almost got scammed smh "ONE OWNER 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. Just over 24,000 miles. Hellcat is in great condition and will come with a few extras. Omfg I was about to get scammed out of a lot of money ( over 1,400 to Exact ) i found a car on let go and well.... hell just read the email “ Donna “ sent me “ I'm emailing you about 2010 Honda Accord EX-L. Automatic transmission and only 75K miles. Never had or need any paint/body work done, garage kept always, without any mechanical problems, tires and wheels are in great shape as well, The engine (2.4L I4 DOHC 16V) runs very good and the transmission shifts perfectly. Has a clean and clear title in my name and there are no liens or loans on it. This car was used by my husband who died 6 months ago. The price was reduced to $1,400 because I'm in a hurry to find a buyer. I need to sell the car before the June 29, when I will be leaving on military duty with my medical team out of the country for a year and do not want to store my car. Hate to sell it but its not worth keeping insurance and paying storage fees for a year. If you are interested I can send you pics, just let me know. I am in the market for a car and the same exact story came up, and they said that i had to pay with gift cards...which is super sketchy so i went out of my way to look up ebays customer service and told them my situation, and the man said that it was a scam. Wow, I literally just had this happen to me. Same story. Lady was selling it thru ebay(but I found it listed on Facebook marketplace)said her husband died 6 months ago due to heart attack and it brought back bad memories. Got a invoice from ebay support mailed to me. Strange enough the bottom of the invoice has a ebay support number to call and they're in pacific time but when I called the number it shows up as a Charleston, south Caroline number. So I emailed the seller to send me pics of the ebay listing for the item. Waiting to see if the person actually responds back to me or realizes I'm catching onto a possible scam

Damnnnnn. I got the same thing, I was just about to send the payment over until I read and it said I will have to buy eBay gift cards. The lady told me she was in the military and live in Virginia and she's trying to get rid of the 2005 Toyota for $800. She said she was sending it over to eBay and they will send me an email and I got the email from eBay but told me to buy eBay bucks. Something told me to come on KZread and not seen this lol

I got tempted. Saw a listing on Facebook marketplace, contacted seller, they said the truck was in a eBay warehouse. ( selling on FB and in a eBay warehouse???? Ok) then I said sure gave them my name and address and number they talked about being deployed and not having a need for truck. So I tried calling the number on the fake invoice follow up email asking for gift card for eBay or Best Buy, and no one picked up, no eBay customer service voice not which is a bad sign because all companies have a voice bot machine answering or if no one picks up. So I searched and found a eBay contact number and he right away identified the scam and said any car or truck being sold on eBay has to be Listed on eBay.... The truck wasn’t listed on eBay. Also you have to buy it through eBay..... so yeah guys just be aware. Luckily I didn’t give my Social security number or license number.

I dnt understand.. ebay has a money back guarantee if you don't receive the item as described if the transaction took place on eBay how did she not get her money back?
