Buying Cars on FaceBook MarketPlace. You won't believe this!

One of our strategies has been buying cars from the public rather than the auction house. We have been really successful with subscribers bringing us cars. Not So much on Facebook Marketplace.

Buyers show sellers no respect on Facebook Marketplace. You have to give it to the first person who shows up with the cash. A lot of people make promises and then never show, w/o even the courtesy of letting you know.

Anytime I've sold anything on Marketplace, I put "first come first serve" right in the description. I typically also am just trying to offload something so it's pretty cheap. Buyers should know it's a race before even reaching out.

I'm on the seller's side on this one to be quite honest. Can't trust anyone that says they are on the way with cash. I'm sure as a salesman, it has happened to you. They promise they are on the way but end up never showing. My rule is, first person with cash takes it. It sucks, but it's just the way it is these days.

You had question why road side sellers do not like to sell to dealers. I was selling my '97 Camaro several years ago, and someone came up and offered less than half my asking. I had already done research to find the price point for the car, so I was confident I was going to sell it for a few hundred of my asking price. After some back and forth, he told me that he could not even sell my car for a $1000 less than my asking price on his lot. (He did not tell me the lot name) I sold to someone else for about $100 less than I was hoping for, but well above this guys highest offer. So I kind of have a distrust of dealers that come to the house, but if you try to buy the car somewhere near my expectation for the car, than I don't care. Spend time telling my that the car is only worth much much less, but you have cash, we are not going to have a long conversation.

I buy used cars every once in a while, I start shopping for my next car when I leave the lot in my new car. I love to shop for cars. Facebook marketplace, Craigslist and even auto-trader are full of people who may not be scammers, but they are lying to buyers from the beginning. They advertise as if they are private sellers, but really are in business of flipping cars. A lot are people who flip cars, and really are unlicensed dealers. You can tell because every two weeks, they will have a different car for sale with the same contact cel-phone and the pictures will all be taken in the same cul-de-sac. I don't even call these douche-bags. In my state, you need a license if you sell more that 5 vehicles per year and have to have a place of business. If you have to lie to me to just to get my call, no dice. It is also my experience that most of these clowns buy the cheapest parts possible, do the minimum amount of work to get the vehicle to just present well and just really do a lousy job reconditioning the vehicle. I could go on and on. Love your channel BTW.

People (buyers) lie most of the time.. you get 100 people wanting to buy your vehicle and when it comes down to it they don't show up and don't even let you know for it... I stay away from buying and selling... I finally found the car that I really like won't be selling it for now.

“Some people won’t sell to dealers” It’s not really goofy, people know dealers won’t pay as much as private parties.

PpI are definitely needed when going buy on their. Pre purchase inspection. To see if their is anything wrong with it. Also go see the vehicle in person to see that’s it’s real and not fake a scam. And don’t forget to negotiate.

I'm an immigration guy and my dream car is a Porsche (SUV one) and someone told me I can have it that car because the car insurance going to be insane higher since I don't have American DL yet and when I get it going to be too young, and because I never pay any car insurance for this reason going to be insane expensive. I find some car at marketplace, I am keeping eye on it, I save one Porsche I wanted the most one I find there, the good part in buy it there is don't have it the expensive price of salesman fee but still have it the car insurance in that case I don't know what to do. And I am thinking in bought any cheapest used car like Honda or jeep makes few a lot sad but, I think is better them walk to work.

Location location location!!! 40,000 cars passed my lot every day. One block from the interstate on hamburger row surrounded by McDonalds and all the rest. Never had to spend a dime advertising. LOCATION IS IMPORTANT! When I retired the guy I leased it to turned it into a drink shop. Stupid idea could have been making a half million a year!

Not sure what you expected to happen and what you would have written a bad review about. He told you a guy saw it last night and said he was coming back with cash. He sold it to the first person to promise to buy it / the first person with cash. I guess he could have held him until you showed up and had an auction. I wouldn't have taken Venmo or whatever over cash. Sounds like a fair seller to me.

I hate FB in general and Marketplace exacerbates it. Several times I've had stuff sold before I got there. Even worse is when it turns into an auction. Seller will tell me "I've been offered X over asking if you want to offer more". I just tell them I don't swing that way and move on. When I sell stuff and they tell me they're coming, I will put it as pending and tell them I will hold it just for an hour beyond the agreed time. I've had people offer above my asking while it's pending to the point that I've had to block them they were so insistent. Some people will do anything for money, I won't compromise my word. It's quite possible somebody "overbid" you on that car. No integrity at all.
