Caleb, I just wanted to point out that you have an absolutely fantastic story telling. Seriously, it is so good, that I take that video to make notes for my job (cybersecurity) on how to break down complex topics to a degree that everyone can understand and follow. Not only are you able to break down hard-to-digest technical facts into an easy to understand manner, you make a storyline out of it that builds up in a perfect pace, not too slow to loose interest and not too fast to not being able to keep up, just perfect. Beyond that, you address every audience out there and provide a guidance so that no should be afraid to make a decision on buying a TV they were afraid about beforehand. Thank you so much, for this gorgeous presentation. All the best from germany

The price difference between the A95L and the other two TVs is even greater in other parts of the world compared to the US. Which makes it that much harder to pick the A95L over the G3 & S90/S95C.

Hi there, I just want to to say I reeeeally appreciate the way you approached this. It is extremely informative, but given that we can't all just see the comparisons in person, It's super helpful for you to describe it in context like that. It's honestly a nice reminder that quantifiable differences in performances might not equate to meaningful differences in the user experience. I suspect that in the end for most people, it's primarily a fun hobby, and we might not need scrutinize so much. I know I need that reminder when it comes to audio gear. :P

qd oled with its much higher color volume is much more useful for gaming atm (definitely noticeable) but in the coming years film will take advantage of its potential as well. a95l while also not having hgig, has been proven by vincent at hdtvtest to have updated processing to get it close and in some games even better (games that don't adhere to standards). the a95l also has the latest industry standard chip along with 6gb of ram instead of 3 (way overdue) meaning much longer lasting OS and support for apps. its a no brainer for any film enthusiast thats also an avid gamer looking for something long term. Someone like me though would choose the G3 in the hopes that in the coming years the industry adopts 120hz bfi again since brightness is now so high and fixes the one thing oleds severely lack.. Motion Resolution. Motion interpolation is also not a solution since it only guesses whats going on in-between frames which is a burden on the brain having to correct it, along with all the artifacting that comes with it.

Nice review. One thing that's missing in this comparison are the panels' ability to reject sunlight. That's really important to me because I have a giant bay window in my family room. I know that Sony professional panels have done a really nice job with ambient light mitigation. I'm just curious if that tech transferred into their prosumer panels.

Love the way you represented the ideas in this video. We have a G2 in our main room but are looking at options in the 75/77” range that aren’t Oled, think the missing perspective here is a direct comparison to the Mini LEDs this year. Approached from the same sentiment as this video, is the difference huge factoring the price of an x95l vs the s90c / G3 / a95l? Or is it a difference that’s noticeable, but not as blown out as we may think. Maybe something for the next “you asked”, but wish there were more direct shootout videos on this topic each year, given the progress lately. Was secretly hoping the x95l was the mystery TV.

I’m glad you gave a shoutout to the Samsung S90C in there. Particularly at the 77” level, it seems there’s little performance difference between that one and its more expensive sibling. And at current prices, the 77” S89C is an even better value for an entry level OLED. There are things I prefer on LG and Sony OLEDs, but I can’t deny the pure performance to price value the S89C and the S90C bring.

Caleb you should talk about problems with these tvs that all people are going to notice without being video experts. Vertical banding for one in all 3 of these tvs. Once you see it in content you cant un-see it. Picture drop outs in game mode for the S95C. Sony lag on video processing that is causing lip sync issues when run through av receivers and incompatibilities with certain receivers like Denon. Nobody is going to buy any of these tvs at this price range just to stream content. People and manufacturers should be made aware that these are not isolated incidents but do exist in all three like mentioned above respectively. i get that the video is supposed to be bout their strengths but please give all manufacturers a kick in the butt that is needed to QC their products better and acknowledge problems and fix problems. Thank you.

I got the Samsung S95B at about the same time and I wish I'd gotten either the Sony or LG instead. Don't get me wrong, the panel is amazing and it looks terrific--but the software just sucks so much. I have an audio system connected to it, but about 99% of the time, the TV switches to its internal speakers on start up. I've been through Samsung's support forums and it's a known issue on a bunch of models with no word from Sammy on when or even if they'll ever fix it--three firmware updates in, they haven't so far. It also forgets it has an internal TV tuner about half the time and just refuses to decode a signal until you power cycle the set--another down issue with no fix in sight. Problems I bet you'll never have with your A95...I swear, if this thing didn't look so incredible, it'd be on the curb.

I respect that what you said, but in real world price may not always speak of quality. You need to spend some time with the TV to see if it can indeed match up your pre-conceived expectations in delivering the quality on which you're invested. Choosing among these 3 top oleds, they have their muscles flexing in some areas and can be weak in some areas vis-a-vis the rest in the top 3. It's a subtle trade-off you see and some subjectivity also to be factored in including brand loyalty etc that covers for any minor shortcomings. We humans know how to justify our investments even if they weren't worthy of what we spent. I'd personally go for S95C as it seems to be the best value vs cost , losing DV support of course.

In my view, there are many people who don't really want to think about all the details and they just want to know that they are buying "the best". I can appreciate that. What you did here was allow us to avoid becoming an expert on the minute details and focus on the few truly distinct aspects of these offerings. If your tv brightness is around 1000 nits you honestly don't need to care. Dolby vision is great for tvs with low brightness / dynamic range since it dynamically tonemaps scenes or frames. I did not go with the LG because of the banding, uniformity and pink tint issues and that was far more important to me. The LG panel lottery is a real thing.

Have you watched Verdict TV series on prime that is HDR10+ and compared the PQ between Sony A95L and Samsung S95C? You'll be blown away by the PQ and contrast as well as colour brightness on the Samsung S95C.

Great video, if I'm planning of also buying a Samsung Q990c soundbar, would you consider Q-symphony as a modifying factor? Does it really improve the sound quality or is it mostly a gimmick? Thanks!

Great review 👍 For us, in the recent Black Friday sale made the LG G3 a total slam dunk. Samsung was $4999, Sony was $5299 & the LG was reduced to $3485. Samsung & Sony was not reduced. Money saved will go towards some Genelec Speakers.

I bought an LG G2 in 2022. At the beginning of 2023, I had hard-core FOMO seeing all of the innovations for both QD-OLED (new panel chemistry) and WOLED (MLA.) But after having watched this and ALL of those "other videos," seeing the new models myself in stores, and now knowing about the tech that will likely come out in the next 2-4 years, my FOMO is gone. I am enjoying, and will continue to enjoy, my G2. My room can be bright or dark at my discretion, and either way the G2 is sometimes eye-searingly bright, has great processing, and reproduces almost every color that exists in current content. So in learning about current and near-future tech, I won't look to purchase another TV until (1) there's a more stunning upgrade from the G2 available, and (2) technological innovations have become both more stable/reliable (like HDMI 2.1) and somewhat plateaued again (so there isn't as much FOMO a year after I make a purchase.)

If you plan on keeping your TV for a long time then you are better off with the LG G2. A WOLED panel is going to last a lot longer than a QD-OLED panel.

I think that’s an amazing deal! I got my A95K in February of this year when it was discounted at $3K. And from watching this video, I do not regret it because the A95K and A95L look identical on Caleb’s video. I don’t see any differences, even the brightness looks the same.

Good morning Caleb, and thank you for this comparison video and honest review of each model's strength and weaknesses. I am stuck in my TV upgrade decision-making process. As both an A80J user and C1 owner I am certainly not unhappy with either model. I want to stay within the Sony Eco structure as it plays nice with my 4k Blu-ray and AVR receiver as both are Sony. Other than the $$'s the A95L costs I would have no problem with that as a choice but I am going back to the video you did while in Japan and saying there is something coming from Sony that if I remember correctly you said would be a "game changer". It's been said by a few reviewers, maybe you were one of them, that the A95L would not be replaced as a model for 2024 with an M series. That leads me to guess that the A80 series may be getting either the QD-OLED tech next year at a lower price to compete with the Samsung models, or MLA technology and being slightly higher in price than the current A80L but lower than the LG G3 pricing. And that the A77L was a test of how the market reacted to lower cost WRGB OLED while maintaining the A80's picture quality. Nothing about the A80J to K to L change was much of an earth shattering improvement so maybe it's time for a revamping of that model line. I guess it's just wait and see or spend the extra and get the best (A95L) to be a bit of future proofed. 🤔🤔🤔

I went with the 65" G3. Why? The looks! A panel manufacturer that has been making oleds for 10 years gives me a little more confident regarding longevity. (And it was 200€ cheaper than the s95c). Caleb, if you don't want to do the same comparison as all the other youtubers, why don't you let ordinary people take the blind test without a reference monitor. Wich picture do they like the most? Only having 2 hdmi 2.1 inputs is a deal breaker for me. I have a soundbar, a PS5 and and I prefer to use an Apple TV instead of the terrible operating system most tv's come with. Bare minimum for me is 3 but I prefer 4 or more.

I'm strongly considering upgrading from my 65" Sony A80J to a 77" Sony A95L. Between the three sets here, the picture quality is so close that your average consumer probably couldn't tell the difference in their home, unless they had all three side by side and professionally calibrated. What I prefer about the Sony OLEDs is the Acoustic Surface Audio. Combined with a compatible Sony sound bar (like I have with my A80J), the Sony's can use the actual surface of the screen as a center channel. The combination is pretty amazing to hear. For really small rooms, the Sony HT-A3000 works remarkably well, although the HT-A5000 is probably the better choice for most uses. If you have a large room and can swing the extra cost, the HT-A7000 is the King. I'm currently running the HT-A3000, but would upgrade to the -A5000 if I get the 77" A95L. Now's all I need is an extra ~$5,700 (but I'll wait until Super Bowl deals arrive).

I have a 55 a80j that I hooked up to my Sony AN1000 AVR to use as the center channel and it's absolutely wonderful. Got the TV at the same price as LG and Samsungs options at the time, so it really saved me a few hundred on a dedicated center channel speaker (for now)

Legit the same as me (besides the sound, I have a jbl 1000) had my 65" a80j and recently upgraded to the A95l and I do not regret it one bit. It is so much brighter and colourful, best decision I made for a tv. Tho it's a lot cheaper for me, my Job is selling tvs so I got the thing damn near half off cause of a sale stacking with my staff price.
