Spoilers. The bravia 9 will be somewhat better, but not for the price

The new naming will be easier for me to explain to customers. Odd numbers are LED. The only even number is OLED, and of course the left over model from last year A95L.

It will not be insanely good in 5 years no I have a 2 3 year old Sony X950H 49 inch and 65 inch don't get me wrong it's still a very good especially the 49-inch version probably not a better 49-inch TV ever made but no TV will still be considered amazing in 5 years in this market where we're headed 🤷

Well yeah, theres been a major lack of flagship TV shows nowadays. The good thing is the processing is in the TV so even if you watch youtube or tiktok on your tv it won't look bad

Still only two 4k/120hz ports :( No love for the 42" Oled//mini led Maybe the InZone line will have something for gamers in monitor size.

​​​@@paskelrey I would know. I've been using the 42" A90K since it launched. The A90K is the reason I haven't updated to one of those new 32" OLED monitors from Asus, MSI and others. I also own the 48" model, purchased after my 900E bite the dust. I like the brightness of mini-led. The A90K gets sufficiently bright. But there is room for improvement.

I think while the new model identification is simple it does not tell us consumers what type of screen or how new the model is. I rather the original alphabetical /numerical identification

Last years QD-Oled made me not thirsty for A new One this year. Thats new for me.

Just bought the A95L recently and have no regrets whatsoever. Also glad to know it won't be replaced with a newer version anytime soon. Cant beat Sony's picture quality.

New Model names a great! Now I'm most interested in how much or little the 9 is worse than the A95L in Sci-Fi content at night!? Or another great "OLED scene" to test is from Frozen 2, where Elza sings against pitch black background and paints with sparkles in the dark.

Great update! Would you say that the Bravia 7 is the same performance as the X95L or somewhere between the X93L and X95L? I was thinking/hoping the Bravia 7 is essentially an X95L with new Pentonic 1000 SOC. What do you think?

@@jimjones5368 I can’t compare I’ve never owned OLED, I don’t like the idea of having to mother them for risk of burn in. But the x95l was by far the best looking tv I went and viewed in my opinion

Prices got inflated too high this year. If the Bravia 7 is the equivalent of the X90 then the price of the 75 inch went up 1200 bucks. Based on the specs, it certainly is most in line with the X90. The X90 replacement was what I was looking for but not at their insane suggested retail price. TCL or Hisense will likely have a very good TV at a much more reasonable price.

First I hope you're not comparing X90L current prices vs new launch prices. The X90L has dropped likely 20-25% in price since launch. Also, the Bravia 7 is a substantial upgrade over X90L. It's more or less an X95L so the pricing is really good. The prices of a Bravia 7 vs TCL and Hisense isn't going to be far off. But the processing of the Bravia 7 will be far better, just like the X90L was far better BUT it lacked in blooming. Now they fixed that . Besides the X90L will continue to be sold. As for Bravia 9 prices, they are basically in line with X95L prices.

So do we just add 3 zeros to each model number for pricing?? 😅

Oh, come on! If _poor people_ can afford Mercedes and Porshe, you can certainly afford a measly $8K _television set_ to waste part of your life on. Personally, I'd rather take the money and go on a vacation somewhere to try and build some _real_ memories (& maybe burn a few calories). But hey! You do you. Watching this thinking to replace my 65Z9D. But then again watched a movie and thought the Z9D still has life.

Probably when the A95L successor comes up in 2025, it will be called Bravia 10. A 10/10.

One more thing: Watching 4K on an 8K screen, is the bee's nuts. It was the same for HD on a 4KTV and SD on an HDTV. But back to my question: What do they call the Z-series now, whether it's 8K or whatever?

I’m a die hard OLED. My LG-C1 OLED is still going strong with no issues and steady updates. I also game on it for hours at a time. Zero issues with the TV to this day. My next TV will be another OLED. Hail to the king of tv’s.

same here bro....MY c1 has zero burn in even after 6000+ hour and the picture still looks like I got it when it was new... I am also going for oled on my next buy but that might be another 2-3 years. The burn in has to be so bad I have to notice it constantly in every color than I might upgrade the TV.

With how good the picture quality is for the Bravia 9, how is the motion handling? That seems to be the only thing holding it back as an led tv against oled at the moment.

I want to be optimistic because QD-OLED seemed like the TV technology end game I’ve been hoping for since flat screens first popped in the seen in the late 90s. But if the cost to performance ratio isn’t there, and nearly all of the market is buying LG’s WOLEDs instead of Samsung’s QD-OLEDs then it doesn’t bode well for its future.

@@PSYCHOV3N0M not Sony, QD-OLED in general. Sony uses Samsung panels as Samsung is the only manufacturer of QD-OLED panels. LG is the only manufacturer of WOLED panels. Sony’s lower end OLEDs that use WOLED panels are supplied by LG. The only two companies that sell QD-OLED TVs are Samsung and Sony. Nearly all other brands use LG’s panels. LG display is continuing to invest in WOLED innovation. Samsung is seemingly focusing on mini LEDs. Unless Samsung can make the cost of the QDOLED panels cheap enough to keep using them in their cheaper TVs… that technology likely won’t last very long since everyone else is choosing to buy their oled panels from LG instead. Including Sony.

So Local Dimming is sort-of-like having a bright B&W TV underneath the actual LED TV. It took manufacturers long enough 😂

Hi thanks as always for the reviews . you have seen the qn900d and bravia 9. I had the qn900c was great after few upgrades but DSE so returned. Has AI helped samsung in refining and getting closer to sony and if Qn900d upscaling is the game changer. Sports is my main criteria.

I'm comparing the A95L with the S95D, you mentioned that Sony won't be replacing the 2023 model atleast for the time being. But will they use the new OLED panel (2024 model) for the same A95L? Or will they stick with the 2023 OLED panel?

With the A95L being a carryover and still a bit pricey…are A95ks even open box in good condition or from private sellers worth it? I have seen some for decent prices

Guess I'm glad I didn't wait any longer and picked up a 48" A90k for a discount. The new tv's are cool and all, but nothing in my size bracket and I'm sure the price for these new ones will be formidable

So they're keeping the x90L this year to take over the x85k. So that will be the "new" entry level 120Hz model. Bravia 3 collapses x80k and the X77L if ur in NA into one by retains the price point of the x77L. Probably to continue to take sales from Samsung CU7000/8000 series and complete with the LG UQ series at that price point.

@@peterjaimes8776 In my the real world…the CX I own developed burn in only after 3 years of use and LG was no where to be found. So for me it was an upgrade in more ways than one. Burn in is no longer an issue.

I like the new model names, I think it’s more simplified than last year’s and I appreciate that. I just wish the Bravia 7 was like $1500 and then I think it would be such a steal.

I ❤ the new nomenclature, and while I commiserate with you the mixing of platforms, I ultimately like it better. The people to whom it matters will always know what is and those that dont will be hapoier with the simplicity (ultimately making it easier on us to recommend the TV they should buy). Kudos to both you for keeping such a good secret and Sony for leading the industry once more, making me want to buy one because it is truely (at least for now) the best!

Seems like the A95L is still the way to go.

Yeah I was saying this in another video's comments. While I'm sure the 9 will be probably the best looking mini LED we've seen to date, I don't suspect it'll overall "top" any of the QD-OLED models currently available or new ones coming in 2024.

I am skeptical about bravia 9. Will need to see reviews after it comes out.

$2400 is a lot for it if it doesn't even include a sub. And still only 1 HDMI port. Kind of seems like a swing and a miss in those areas. Yeah a new sub would have been nice!

The new naming scheme is fine. What I care about is price and availability. I was trying to buy a 77" A95L and it just wasn't available. Maybe a 85" BRAVIA 9??

The naming scheme is great until you ask, "What will next year's models be called?" Bravia 9a? They should have gone with something like 13, 17, 18, and 19. That way next year you'd do 23, 27, 28, and 29, and people will easily be able to tell which one's the newer model.

I agree, while I prefer slightly bigger, there are a lot of people that either don’t have the space or don’t want the biggest screen on the market. Sony would do well to offer their top of the line tech in smaller screens.

I've been an LG fan for the last 10 years but considering the strides Sony has been making in the mini light lineup this year I might just jump the LG ship and book a cruise on a Sony voyage. I'll wait for actual sets to arrive for review though. As always, thanks Caleb for keeping things interesting.

As someone with a six-year-old 55" Sony with 48 dimming zones, that Bravia 7 65" is looking preeeetty good for a Black Friday splurge later this year.

That sucks. I was looking forward to the Bravia 9, 55" is the max I can comfortably fit in my room and I need to replace my dying TCL. ( I'm not going back to OLED)

@@AntonioCunningham Bravia 7! That's what I'm getting. I also want a 55" and wished the X93L had a 55".. well here it is but even better. I'm moving from my old plasma to miniLED backlit LCD. LCD tech finally caught up and is surpassing OLED. Just in time for me. Why aren't you going back to OLED? Burn in? Bright room?

I have a Sony Xperia phone. 1 is considered the flagship and 10 is the budget. In that context, the Bravia line going the other way around gives me a headache.

Bizarrely this size will not be available in the UK and as some people have pointed out this is even more puzzling because UK living rooms are generally smaller than you find in American homes for instance. Only 75' and 85' in the BRAVIA 9.

On the Bravia 9 tip, if your new to mini-led then it would be nice to get, but if you already own one it ain’t worth the upgrade. Great to see the tech evolve for the better tho.

How does the new BRAVIA 9 compare to the BRAVIA A95L you were so high on?

Sony processing is worlds better than other stuff. It looks just more natural.

Additional, or even considerably more, brightness. No burn-in. Also supports larger size TVs. >75" OLED prices get pretty crazy pretty fast, and good luck going above 85".

Yeah, that’s something important to think. I purchased an LG C3 77 and I’m pretty happy with the overall quality on image and construction… I really don’t think I need more brightness on the TV. For daily usage, I don’t even leave the TV on maximum bright, because it’s not necessary on SDR. When I’m going to watch a Movie, with curtains closed and in HDR, I turn off the economy mode and the TV really shines itself. The black levels are PRETTY awesome, you cannot understand where the barrier between tv and the wall - it’s really all black. 800 nits are more than enough ton peak brightness to have a fantastic image on that. Brightness it’s part of image quality, it’s like sound - volume it’s only one variable, more volume doesn’t mean better quality - There’s A LOT MORE that goes inside this to evaluate “OVERALL QUALITY” and C3 from LG is pretty decent to me - I don’t think I would like to improve that, is really more than enough for me. The same thing happened with my home theater - now I have a 5.1 floor standing 100W speakers from JAMO and a 300W sub and a Denon from 10 years ago that sounds way better than 90% of Atmos availables in market - why should I do an upgrade?

Does the Bravia 9 have an atsc 3.0 tuner?

Great video! I hope other manufacturers, both for PC monitors and TVs, adopt a simpler naming system like Sony. It makes it much easier to compare and choose models when shopping for new items in my opinion.
