Nice video FOMO. Finally, we can appreciate the A95L with its pros and cons. As you pointed out, gaming is a big factor and it puts the LG G3 ahead of the pack, though we have to see how the Sony A95L does in Dolby Vision gaming, and if Samsung is willing to streamline the S95C game mode. Even with the amazing processing of the A95L, I wouldn’t pay more than $2,999 for a high-end 65” TV. I believe the 65” A95K went as low as $2599 back in February.

  • @nickxcore74

Agreed. Sure the Sony’s always have the better processing and better colour accuracy, but having only 2 2.1 HDMI ports along with them not being as gamer friendly as LG and Samsung I wouldn’t be prepared that extra money on the Sony. I also think that stand on the A95L is awful and they always seem to make horrible stands for the majority of their TV’s. I’m still opting for the G3 myself, but I haven’t fully decided on that or the S95C yet.

I even thought the Sony seems to have better colors out of the box, if you get the Apple TV 4K and set it up to Dolby vision, Apple will make sure you’ll get the best colors. Sony looks amazing, but I don’t think it looks like a $1,000 upgrade from the G3. Beside I love the gallery design in the G3. But that is my personal opinion.

Honestly it's more than a $1000 dollar gap now. You can find deals for the 65in G3 right now at close to ~$2100 - $2200 range (no taxes from Greentoe). If you plan to wall mount the A95L you also have to pay for that (the Sony branded mount is $300, the G3 comes with one). 65in A95L is 3500 + tax + mount cost, that's about a $2000 difference over the G3. Hard to justify.

you need to dial them down and then they're fine. They do it because people like the bright pop in colors. People who prefer a more neutral to as intended image can turn it down and it's not an issue. Just because your'e not getting the more accurate color at setting 30, but you do at 22, what's the issue. Out of the box no TV ever looks how you want it to. I always have to tinker with settings for each input

@@cyberathlete it's not just the over-saturation and over boosting of those colors though, it's the color accuracy. Not only do the Samsungs over crank all their colors right out of the box, they flat out get many of the colors just plain wrong as well. Most people that are buying a $2,000 to $6,000 TV don't want to have to fight with it as soon as they get it home to try and figure out how to make the colors look right. They just want to take it out of the box, plug it in and start enjoying it. Unfortunately, Samsung doesn't do that - on ANY of their models across their entire TV lineup. Every model, every size. That really shouldn't be the case. Consumers recognize that. Why doesn't Samsung?

As long as there's a mode that is accurate and does what I want I'm fine with it. The overly exaggerated look was in standard... I don't care about standard, filmmaker works fine. Now if filmmaker isn't accurate, that's a different story.

@@michaelbeckerman7532 neither is LG accurate out of the box. I invite you to watch LG comparisons against other TVs and you'll notice a strong green cast on all LG panels. So right off the bat they have panels that can not help but push greens a lot. And Stop the FOMO also said that the cameras pick up the blues of the LG TV more than the others so have to take that into account. Ever gone to LG and tell them to fix their panels. I would search every LG G3 vs video and see for yourself. Samsung colors are now more in line with Sony and LG still can't resolve the green cast.

Thanks for the video, FOMO. My thoughts. I've just bought the LG G3 77" and when I saw the price of the Sony A95L (£5999) in the UK, I was expecting something truly amazing, incredible, best cinema tv and thought I'd be regretting my choice. But truly I'm not. This G3 at almost £1500 cheaper than the Sony , held it's own and like some folks have said "they all offer very similar performances but do a few things differently" Trust me....when you see 4k HDR football (UK) and DVision on this set ...... wow. I was reddying myself to swap my G3 out for the Sony, (don't like the Samsung) but I'm definitely not now. However, I wouldn't put anyone off the Sony if they're ready to shell out that massive price tag... 2023 high end tvs are all amazing....make your choice guys 😁

You had to disable the "Enhanced HDMI" mode to enable DV, and doing so would turn off all the HDMI 2.1 features - including the extra bandwidth for 120Hz and VRR - so DV was mutually exclusive Is this still true?

It’s like filling up a Ferrari with mid grade gas Streaming is usually ~20-25 Mbps with Apple TV original shows having the highest at ~30-40 Mbps. 4K Blu Rays can reach ~120 Mbps so it will have minimal compression. Additionally streaming only uses compressed audio like DD+ while 4K Blu Rays use uncompressed Dolby True HD and DTS:X. It's something you would never know when looking at the store since they only display high quality showcase content - Sony should pay retailers to play side by side KZread content in the store. I always say each brand has a philosophy: Sony - Creator's intent; basically anything that distracts from the TV displaying an image as close as possible to the Sony BVM is superfluous. They have competent gaming TVs, but cinema is where Sony shines. Cleaning up low bit rate content is another area where Sony is the absolute king! Samsung - The Sexy TV; often the thinnest possible TV, a minimalist remote, colors that are bold and unrealistic in many of the video modes. LG - The Jack of all trades; LG does everything well, and gaming exceptionally well. I was surprised to see how well LG cleaned up low bit rate content in this comparison.

A95L wins by a mile in image processing and accuracy. The shadow detail and gradients of the colors and scenes are way better. As for brightness, I could see it actually won in some areas and just a tad less bright in some. But that needs to be put into perspective. It's a TAD dimmer, not a lot. The only thing left, how is the gaming. Does it dim a lot. But man that image processing is bar none the best. I can easily see the X95L would beat the other two TVs as well in clarity and accuracy. Of course not in pure black level. But in a room with even the tiniest bit of light the X95L would win.

I don't question Sammie Prescott (my calibrator) however panel variance being what it is (and things change year to year especially with MLA this year) I can only assume my specific TV is most accurate with these settings. Also, WOLED panels always looks cooler on KZread because all camera sensors hype up the blue of WOLED

After much research for myself, I decided to go with the 65 inch G3. I’m a Sony fan, I’m replacing a A8H Oled, it’s a great TV, but really wanted to get a new tv with the new OLED tech. That Sony tax is real 😂. Couldn’t justify paying $1000 more for the A95L than the G3.
