I know this is an older comparison, but I wanted to say that this REALLY helped give me peace of mind in making the decision to go with the S90C soon. It really does go shot for shot with the S95C in what looks like 98% of cases, save for a bit of brightness and picture sharpness on the 95C, but you REALLY have to look for it, and wouldn't be able to tell at all unless they were side by side like this. Really glad that you guys used real movie content as well instead of just the show room loop material. I get that low bitrate apparently isn't great on Samsungs, but that's a trade off I've decided I'm willing to make for QD OLED colour punch and brightness, haha. Thanks again for doing this!

1:03:26 Pause here and take a look. Especially "Dolby Vision" fans. s95c has the best reproduction of darks and brightness here. Brightest sun, snow coverage, with lower right mountain still visible. G3 is completely black in the right-down corner. If I point them by best HDR 1st is S95C, 2nd is G3 and 3rd is S90C. For the price, I would go with S90C 77 since it uses same panel as S95C.

I bought the S95B and I'm still happy with my decision. For all the talk of the nerfed brightness in firmware updates, it still basically seers my eyes with the small tweaks I made from calibration. That said, love to see they keep pushing forward with even newer technological advances from all brands. I need a new bedroom TV soon, but I will probably just settle in with the U8H for that one, as it looks ridiculously good for the price.

I've had an S90C for almost a month and I love it. It has its caveats, most notably vertical banding in obscure scenes that, really, are only there if I intentionally look out for them, a slow OS and... yeah, that's it, actually. I'm really happy with the performance. The uniformity on this thing is amazing, there's no DSE and solid colors look gorgeous. I really recommend it. I picked up the 55" model for 1100 dollars in Mexico after discounts and promotions, so even something like 900 dollars during the holidays is doable. If such price tag comes to fruition, I don't think any other TV will come close to this one for the money.

I think everyone will have different needs that will make one TV better than the other. I chose the LG G3 because I trust LG colors a bit more for movies (I don't like oversaturated colors which some people love), LG's firmware update support, the better image processing for lower bitrate streamed content like KZread, and I personally prefer the build (mostly the uniform panel thickness over overall thinness). DTS passthrough support was a plus as well, and at least by my eyes the G3 handles reflections and maintains black levels in bright rooms better (TV is going into a bright living room). I don't care bout gaming, and I didn't mind the $1000 price difference (and couldn't stomach the $1500 more dollars for the Sony A95L vs. the G3). There's no doubt that the S90C is the best deal - if my budget was around $2000 instead of $3000 I would've definitely gotten the S90C over any of the WOLED panels in that price range. I do think the image "pops" more, I can't see a difference in brightness, and the significantly better color depth future proofs the TV more than DV on the GS does as more content comes out that takes full advantage of BT.2020 - I'm just not sure yet how much I can see the difference as opposed to the image processing.

Certainly a valid choice. Imo, the 3 best TVs G3, S95C (and by extension, the S90C) and A95L are so close this year that either is gonna be great. I just bought the S95C, mostly because of the price but I didn't want to buy another WOled panel because of it's near black issues like the chrominance overshoot that aren't present with QD-Oeld.

I agree. Samsung really oversaturates colors. Their Tizen home screen has atrocious overblown colors that cannot be tamed as Samsung disables the picture settings for Tizen, so you are stuck with an afront to your eyeballs. This is a non issue once your in a movie/show and can also be bypassed by using a Roku, Shield, ATV etc. I find it curious all of these influencers completely leave that out. Some of us want to use the smart TV functionality we paid for. LG has spot on colors that are very realistic and natural. Samsung has better color lumunance which is better for low light or very dark scenes but other than that I much prefer LG colors. Not everything needs to look like film. My one, rather huge for me, issue with LG, my only issue with them is the black crush and near black/low light loss of detail. LG insists this is intentional and has no plans to adress it or even add an option to. Every TV has compromises and there is no easy and clear 'winner'. You just have to chose what is important to you and what you can live with.

Pricing is so good in my region right now for the Samsungs. S90C 65" is just 1500EUR and S95C is 2500EUR and if you have the space then the 77" is an amazing 2500EUR/3200EUR. I had an S95C for a couple of days and was blown away with gaming, brightness and panel uniformity comparing it to last years G2 and C2. That S90C is the best bang for buck and the only thing I do not like is the cheap open-back stand but I do have a brand new metal Sanus stand (in case I bought the G3) that I could use that looks fantastic on the lowest height setting. Much prefer the UI and Dolby Vision, DTS support, warranty, burn-in track record of the G3. It is difficult to decide as competition is very good. One other point is that I have read many claims of PC owners that do NOT have any issues with the One Connect box running 4K 144hz @ 10-bit on PC. Therefore what is the latest on this topic? Are the problems related the short One Connect cable versus long cable?

Been thinking about upgrading my c9 to the s90c but I'm not sure it will be a worthwhile upgrade. The main reason I'm considering upgrading is the brightness in the c9 is keeping me from using it with curtains opened. The tv has something like 5000 hours of screen time and has been through many pixel refresh cycles by this point so I think the brightness might be some ways off the original level of the c9. I could just buy the s90c and return it if I don't think it was worth the upgrade but I don't really like doing that. Decisions decisions..

Basically they all gloss over (or skip entirely) Samsung weakness's. @@tomy2988 I’m not sure if anything said about gen 2 panels is true. I believe it’s mostly mental if you think you have a gen 2 panel you will feel better. In my opinion it really doesn’t matter but I’m pretty sure if you buy it now especially from Samsung website you will most likely get a gen 2 panel if that makes you feel better. My thoughts on the tv is if you can get it at its Black Friday discount price it’s the best OLED for the money in the midrange department. Compared to the flagship tvs it’s really close maybe the flagships are brighter but you won’t notice unless comparing side by side. The picture is good on the tv especially 4k hdr content if you are gonna be watching cable or low quality sources it will look not so good however. If you are looking for an OLED without breaking the bank this is the best one better than the comparable C3 from LG. Every OLED is prone to burn in if you want to watch whatever you want without worrying about it I recommend you go for mini-led from TCL, or Hisense. Or you can even go for Sony X90L if you don’t trust those brands but this one is full array led not mini led.

Actually, if you sit and think about it - were they as much of a gamechanger as a Quantum Dot LED TV when they came out a decade ago? I'm not sure the answer yes. QD OLEDs definitely improved brightness in OLEDs which forced LG to develop MLA which will improve WOLEDs but the other big promise was brighter color and while the color is brighter, no one is saying "forget WOLED or Quantum Dot LED, run get a QDOLED". They do have more color but it's not "holy crap, the other TV is unwatchable". When Quantum Dots came out, a Sony rep told me to go to Best Buy and check an IPS (flagship believe it or not) Sony LED TV. I went there and the $2,000 55 inch TV was sandwiched on the Magnolia wall with 7,000-10,000 TVs next to it (4-5 TVs together). I couldn't take my eyes off the Sony. Even sitting directly in front of the other TVs, the Sony had more color from an angle (it was IPS so wider angle) than the other TVs straight on which was absurd. Plasmas were completely unwatchable when the Sony was putting 800-900 nit highlights back then and the plasma had 200-300 nit highlights (their images were just flat). Even my wife who knew nothing about TVs when we saw the old Quantum Dot Sony TV next to non-quantum and plasmas said "what's wrong with the other TVs and why are they so expensive when the Sony is so much better? They should be selling for 20% of the price"😃 Now I haven't personally seen any QD OLED directly (Best Buy stores seem to limit their locaitons) but I haven't gotten that sense from anyone reviewing where they say "how can I possibly continue watching this X95K LED or G3 when the S95b or S95C are next to it?" In fact, some reviewers have even chosen miniLED TVs or the G2. They are game-changers but I truly expected the color to be next level in every scene and I'm not sure we got that.

G3 has best whites cuz it has white pixel. But it also has less color volume to due that. Longer longivity is also due to that, cuz for brightness LG pushes white pixel foremoest, while Samsung has to push all 3 pixels. Upscaling is non issue on standardised 1080p content, with the S95B the issue lies with content below that, it looks meh for a top class tv. The question at 44:10 is why I returned my S95B and have been asking about processing and upscaling on the newer models. My low bitrate content was actually from Netflix (Apple TV, with a High Speed internet connection). If I was watching a Netflix series, everything was perfect. If it wasn’t that it was just Meh. Streaming from Disney+ and Amazon exclusive shows were fine, but if it wasn’t something series/movie made by the major companies or it was just meh. The thing is I’ve NEVER had that problem on my CX. The shows all looked good or even better. As a viewer everything we watch isn’t a 4K UHD Disc or just gaming. There’s definitely an in between. I’d been thinking about a 77 inch S90c for the size, but my viewing habits a 65 inch G3 might be better cost wise (holiday season) and everyday viewing.

Gaming too. But sometimes you’re just watching regular sh!t ya know lol. And for the regular sh!t is where it was kinda meh for me.

Samsung is known to break gaming features with firmware updates or worse, gimp brightness. If your TV is running perfectly fine, don't update. Only update if you feel there are issues and you know the update specifically addresses those issues like ARC soundbar compatibility.

I have an S90C. Well, I have 3 but so far I've only set one of them up. The other two are still in the box. The screen is amazing, but it is VERY bare bones. The UI is atrocious. Just switching the input requires going through the home screen every time. Turning on "ambient mode" requires several button presses and once again, going though the home screen. They have what they attempt to call a screen saver, but it isn't. It just something for if you haven't pressed a button in a while, it isn't looking at what is on the screen and detecting inactivity as I was told it was. This in particular is making me regret the purchases. I want to use 3 of the 65 inch TVs as my monitors, but given the lack of anything but the most bare bones of software on TV, this doesn't seem to be as good an idea as when I started. I need an actual screen saver. I need a UI that isn't horrendously clunky. I did previously have an LG for my center monitor and LCD TVs for my side monitors. I may need to see if I can return the two monitors I haven't opened and get LCDs or something. I think Samsung has really dropped the ball. After doing some research, it seems that this TV lacks a lot of the features of other older Samsung TVs. Apparently, some of their TVs have a screen saver while others don't. Some of their TVs do have an option to quickly switch inputs, some don't. While the S90C has left a bad taste in my mouth, it does appear that not all the TVs that Samsung makes have all of these issues. I certainly would not suggest getting the S90C though. As much of a pain as it is, I will likely need to see if I can return at least the two TVs I haven't opened and see if I can get a better TV. Some of the inaccurate information I got was from Best Buy, more specifically someone, as I understood it, employee by Samsung (he was wearing a Samsung shirt). I assumed information coming from him would be accurate. I will need to do a better job of vetting information.

The 77-inch S95C is bright and colorful beyond belief in my local Best Buy, but the colors to me look way oversaturated. Maybe they have it on in vivid mode or maybe they have tweaked it to look like that. I love nice colors and bright TVs, but the QN90B seems much nicer to me by comparison. Can you speak to this? Have you seen what the S95C looks like in a Best Buy? Can I get it to look more normal at home? Can I get it to look better than the QN90B?

I have S90C for about 2 weeks and I dont recommend it, the auto dimming funcion is too agresive and doesnt work as expected, the games or movies get too dark after 10 min aprox of using it and there is no way to disable or change the quantity of brughtness. If I knew about this before I for sure wouldnt buy it.
