Best Of You - The Foo Fighters Story ┃ Documentary

Музыка

Foo Fighters have become one of the biggest rock bands of recent times, Dave Grohl is often seen as the face of the band and if it wasn’t for his time with Nirvana, Foo Fighters probably wouldn’t even exist.
Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins sadly passed away on March 25, 2022. He was found unresponsive in a hotel room. He was just 50 years old.
Grohl has also been in Queens of The Stone Age, Them Crooked Vultures, and collaborated with dozens of other artists. Most notably with Lemmy of Motorhead when he recorded his Metal side project Probot, in 2004.
Few bands can say they’ve sold millions of albums as well as playing the iconic Wembley Stadium in the UK, Foo Fighters however, are one of those bands and this is their story.

I think Dave saw Kurt as a close friend, but Taylor was more like a brother. A soul brother. I know Dave’s a well balanced human being, but I don’t know how he’ll get past this. He will though, because he’s a survivor.

Thank you for making this video. I only recently came across dave grohl's music (weird, I know) and wanted to know a bit more about this history of what he had been through. This video was perfect for that and made me into a new fan of his. It's amazing how much we all struggle, even those that reach mountaintops where the rest of us think they have it made. In the end, what we learn is that those with a strong will make great things happen, regardless of the field or experience that person starts out with.

I still think Dave would have achieved what he has with foo fighters whether he was with Nirvana or not. He created the first break through foo fighters album in 1995 in his basement by himself in a botched up home made studio and had no publicity to help sales. All on his own.

Foo fighters self titled album was recorded in a whopping 5 days in the same studio where "you know you're right"(nirvana) was recorded, just a few minutes from Dave's Seattle home. Almost all the songs had be pre written during Dave's time with nirvana so much of the writing process has been finished. His sense of timing and ability to play loud and efficiently allowed him to finish an album in a very short time span and begin promoting it small scale on CDs and mixtapes.

I got my dream Boston Calling was about to buy VIP tickets Foo Friday Strokes Saturday and Metallica Sunday plus so many bands in between another great Wheezer. I saw Dave on Hot Ones and thought immediately... I wanna get drunk with these dudes man Boston Calling im challenging Dave to a Jager off! It would most likely never happen but a guy can dream. Then Taylor passed and it all came crumbling down. I can now only hope and pray that Taylors kids and family and Band m8's get through this crushing moment in life and also know his light is in the sky forever and the music you guys made will live on forever.

To me, grunge actually died when “Something In The Way” was put into Batman. I think we can all agree that Cobain never wanted to go Hollywood and it’s not what grunge is. It’s a sad metaphor of Cobain’s life with Batman that they tried to execute for the movie. It’s really cool that Grohl practically did the impossible and redefined new-age rock, but the power of money is disgustingly untouchable even for grunge 😔

I will always be grateful to when I was a 11-12 yr old kid when we lost Kurt. The era was over and I didn’t quite hate Bush and some of the generic stuff that came shortly after but there was some great music coming out that summer of 94. I was hoping something was going to come to save the day and the feeling was grim to being possible. Then I heard about Dave doing the album. I was so fucking excited when I heard it on MTV news. Being a broke kid my friends and cousin bought it when it came out to flaunt but listening to it I was so fucking into it. Especially when Colour came out MAN. What a time. It really is great to me to see how much he did but how much people seen what I did even when he was only Nirvanas drummer. I am hugely influenced by his playing and back then he didn’t get much recognition in the music community. Yeah people seen it but not like now. Dave wasn’t the biggest drum influence back then believe it or not. There were those who thought Nirvana was so simple but completely didn’t see how solid of a player he really was.

My think is, he lost his best friend, Kurt Cobain, now Taylor. Just seems odd two best friends list in a lifetime? That’s un heard of. I can’t imagine how he must feel about loosing Taylor. U could tell he loved him and vise versa. Dave is a great musician, I wish him well and may god bless him

Just think how Goldsmith felt when he came back to the studio to find out he only had two songs on the album Dave's probably hard to work with since he's such a perfectionist can't blame him for leaving

Both Dave Grohl and Kurt Cobain came from broken homes, divorced parents. The difference is Dave had a mother who was active in his life and supportive also available. Dave was also able to stay in touch with his dad for advice. Unfortunately Kurt's parents were the total opposite of what Dave experienced. Dave throughout his career has possessed an emotional intelligence that serves him well until this day. It makes me wonder if Kurt turned to drug addiction because of his sensitivity as his parents were total crap. I'm not trying to be judgmental, it's just an observation. Kurt went on record complaining about stomach pain issues which caused him to use heroin to combat the pain. Either way it's still a tragedy to commit suicide ending what could have been a promising future.

I think you give kurt too much credit lol. He was good at coming up with catchy melodies but by his own admission was incredibly lazy and didn’t even care for writing lyrics that much. The whole band has said that the writing process in nirvana was basically kurt playing a new riff and mumbling nonsense and the song would build from there. To say that the foo fighter’s discography, which is 30 years old by now was came up by someone who died in 1994 is a huge stretch.

IMO, the last truly great album these guys made was "There Is Nothing Left To Lose". Everything after that album is strictly for the money. It's really that simple.

I am a HUGE Foo Fighters fan but "The Best of You" is the worst of their songs in my opinion. It's a channel changer for me! Every band has a sucky song! I guess when they reach super stardom, it doesn't matter.
