i'm just coming to know nikos galis. his play was amazing. it was only dribbling and layups, no dunking, no jumpers. he seems always a step ahead, he always beat the player guarding him, and although all the defense was always waiting to help out and collapse on him, his shots would go in no matter what. the nba and the celtics wouldn't have adapted to his play, but surely galis would have modified his style to thrive in the nba. thanks for all these videos on international basketball.

I can only think of really few bball players that could move with such ease and confidence in the court...and they are all big NBA legends. He is the reason i started playing basketball. Thanks Nick!!!

Today top 15 list of best Euro players in history was announced. While I generally agree Dražen was the greatest, list without Galis in top 5 is instantly marked as fail in my book. Also, Nowitzky and Sabonis should be in top 5 too, along with Serbian wizard Bodiroga. Anyway, watching Galis is like watching Ronaldo (the real one) before his injuries. Nomatter what you do, he scores. And if you push him, he scores even more. Absolutely fantastic player! Respect from Croatia!

Galis was flying whereas the rest of them were walking and running. That is the only way after all a guy who is 1,83 (!!!!) can dominate the game like that. That is all you need to know about him and his game. Nobody did what Galis did with that height disadvantage. NOBODY. By far he had the most fascinating and spectacular game in Europe that time. By far.

Era diferente de Petrovic; en primer lugar, menos antipático, pero esa es otra historia. Jugaba más cerca del aro que Drazen y su mayor especialidad eran las penetraciones. Era de baja estatura pero muy fuerte, difícil de defender una vez que arrancaba y muy complicado moverlo cuando tenía la posición; pero a la vez hacía valer su baja estatrura para escurrirse, para jugar por debajo de jugadores mucho más altos a los que enloquecía con su velocidad y fintas, para terminar sacando una mano de allá abajo o una bandeja que acababa siempre en canasta. Luego tenía también un tiro de media distancia mortal, tras bloqueo, en movimiento o rectificando en suspensión para esquivar un defensor, lo mismo le daba. Pero en la larga bajaban algo sus prestaciones, por eso usaba mucho menos esos tiros, era muy listo (otra de sus virtudes). Era un jugador que no rehuia el choque, con un juego más de barrio que Petrovic; un baloncesto diferente, menos tirador y más fajador. Pero eso sí, ambos con un instinto asesino que no se conocía por Europa. Extraordinarios los dos, anotadores compulsivos con muy pocos días malos que te ganaban solos el partido. Yo pude verlos jugar en su momento

Agree,here on the Russian site all fans were wondering: Were is Nikos Galis?My top 5 is Dirk, Parker,Nikos,Arvidas and of course great Drazen.Sorry, but I will choose Dirkfor number 1 because of his NBA achievements.
