Αυτόν τον αγώνα τον είχα δει ζωντανά στην τηλεόραση το 1986. Γκάλης ο καλύτερος παγκοσμίως και ο Γιαννάκης τεράστιος. Δύο παίκτες συν τη βοήθεια του Χριστοδούλου μετέτρεπαν μια ομάδα από επτά υπόλοιπους μέτριους παίκτες σε κορυφαία ομάδα. Γκάλης μακράν ο καλύτερος, κάθε σύγκριση είναι ατυχής και ο Γιαννάκης έχει την καλύτερη μεταβίβαση μπάλας που έχω δει ποτέ και εξαιρετικός αμυντικός. Ούτε χιλιοστό δεν του έφευγε στην πάσα και ο Γκάλης έχει απίστευτη υποδοχή μπάλας, κορυφαίος πασέρ, χαρισματικός σκόρερ που όμοιό του ακόμη δεν έχω δει. Εξαιρετικοί και ταλαντούχοι παίκτες υπάρχουν αλλά ο Γκάλης ήταν μια κατηγορία μόνος του όπως και ο Γιαννάκης στον άσσο.

Yes Jose piculin Ortiz he is retirerd and now he is in politics and Ramon Rivas is working with Orlando Magics as a home court commentator and Jerome Mincy is an asistant coach in our league. But i was in the bench and i just plated one term with puerto rico. But in those days we knew the game and we play the european style, today the knew generation have to learn a lot is not the same team and style. We need old school basket.

You are right he shows the world that Greece is a power in basketball and the world have to count with them in every FIBA competition. And because of Galis legendary performance is why basketball is beautyfull

By the way the honor is mine man, is nice to talked with great persons like you who know the meaning of the game his history and love the game. Like i said before i would love to visit your country. Greece is a wonderfull country your culture, history, phylosophy, your beautyfull places and your great tradition in the sports including basketball and olympics. If you have games of 1990 world championships post them real basketball fans will love it.

Πάντως κι ο Γιαννάκης, στην πάσα του στο 03:51 πόσο αβίαστα πετάει την μπάλα από το ένα άκρο του γηπέδου στο άλλο. Δεν θυμάμαι άλλο play maker τόσο δυνατό.

I played in the tournament of the americas in 1989 was my last international competition in Cuba but i never have the oportunity to played in the fibas worldchampionship, the team in thet brought there best players because of the higher competition. But i played in our league and i stop playing at 25 years old, tendonitis in my left. Know i work in the insurance industry.

Maby you sre right. Drazen was a pure euro player and he was used to played that classic european style/ Dont get me wrong Galis have somthing that Petrovic didnt. HEART, COURAGE AND DETEMINATION. Galis take this team to his back and carried them to the 1987 eurobsket title. Petrovic was in EUROPEAN DREAM TEAM, YUGOSLAVIA. I retire my comment maby you are right. I like GREECE basketball program of developing young players thats why today they are a power team in FIBA.

Παρόλα αυτά η καλύτερη φάση του βίντεο είναι η απίστευτη πάσα-διαβητης του Γιαννάκη από την μια μπασκέτα στην άλλη στο 3.52, όπως και ο συνδυασμός τους στο 4.10

Το αστείο είναι ότι ο Γιαννάκης τέτοιες πάσες τις είχε ψωμοτύρι... Απίστευτος πραγματικά. Τον έχω δε σε πολλούς αγώνες να το κάνει... μαρκαρισμένος αυτός μαρκαρισμένος ο Γκάλης και με το που πιάνει μπάλα ο Γιαννάκης έχει τηλεμεταφερθεί στα χέρια του Γκάλη. Πως που γιατι και με τι κανείς δεν έπαιρνε χαμπάρι. Και νομίζω πως ως προπονητής ήταν ο καλύτερος που πέρασε από την Εθνική ακόμα κι όταν έπαιζε αυτός.

Did you played for GREECE ? I played for the puerto rico national team in 1987 to 1990. I have the honor to see Galis and i forget somthing to said about Galis vs Petrovic and is that Galis was very very strong and athletic, Galis can jump three foot high to make a three point shot and dominates 6 foot 6 players and Galis i think was 6 foot to 6 foot 1. Galis realy could leap. Ofensively he have much tools than petrovic and i dont dout that Galis would be a star if he coukd played in NBA.

Skatastamoustrasas how are man. You were right Galis was a spectacular passer. It wasnt fair to compare him with Petrivic because Petrovic was playing in an european DREAM TEAM like Yugoslavia. Galis with a lot of heart lead GREECE to GLORY. Did you know that Jose Ortiz still in good shape i think he is in he almost 44 or 45 and he still looks very young. Jerome Mincy is also in good shape. Ramos have to learn a lot, well he is playing in europe in the Spain ACB league he must learn fundamentals

Παικταραδες υπαρχουν και σημερα και μαλιστα ειναι περισσοτερο γυμνασμενοι απο ποτε. Ηγετες και προσωπικοτητες με αυτη τη νοοτροπια τυπου Γκαλη, Πετροβιτς που υπηρχαν εκεινη την εποχη, εχουν να βγουν απο τοτε.

I remember this Panamas team but with Mario Butler, Rolando Frazer, Ernesto Malcom and Mario Galvez good team, but i dont remember who won this game. I just know that Panama go toe to toe ans gived some problems to the Greece team. Wow Galis 53 amazing.

With Arroyo and Barea we are ok but we must improve our game be more organized in our ofense. In these big tournaments like worldchampionships the level of competition is very high. Example your great country GREECE a superpower team, Spain and Argentina. We still 10 in the FIBA ranking but we need to improve our game and we need outside shooters, european teams have super shooters even there centes can make three pointers.

Γκαλης ο καλυτερος Ελληνας καλαθοσφαίρισης ολων των εποχων

I AM from Puerto Rico a small island but with a good tradition in basketball. Our basketball program of developing young players is stock and our game change a lot. In the 80s we use to played the european style moving the ball making the extra pass for a nice shot but todays our game is more individualist like americans and thats not good for us. I you see your country play they play the game very organize they dominates the fundamentals of the game besides GREECE have great outside shooters.

@Skatastamoutrasas ...and just like somebody said, that anyrybody that makes his living out of bball in Greece; should...contribute to building a statue for him (Galis). However, up to date, they haven't even named a stadium after him, not even a tournament - absolutely nothing to make the bitter taste of the circumstances under he stopped playing, go away...

You see why i said that Drazen Petrovic was better than Galis. OK 53 points but only 1 assist. Galis never pass a ball always shooting. In this video i could observed some plays that he could pass the ball to a better position player and Galis prefered to shoot and his teamate was more confortable to make a shot. Thats the defrence that separate Galis from Petrovic. Drazen was more fundamental in the court than Galis and see his teamates.

That’s just completely false. Galis can be a pure PG when he wants to be or is called to be. His job was to be a shooting guard. Even as such, he was averaging 4 or 5 assists per game. And there was one game he had 23 assists.
