Best Modular Motorcycle Engine Stand Review | Honda CB750 Motor | Cafe Racer Project | 05
In this episode I put the engine from my CB750 Cafe Racer project bike into my new engine stand.
This is the exact Adjustable Engine Stand I’m reviewing: ebay.us/ruEvbw
I have made and bought a few engine stands over the years. Knowing that the CB750 SOHC engine is a heavy lump I was keen to have a decent stand for working on it.
While I was at the Classic Bike Show in Stafford I saw a stall selling adjustable engine stands. They were even using some Honda engine casings to demonstrate it. I had a chat with the guy selling them, and it turned out he was the designer as well.
Putting the engine in the stand was fairly simple, it can be adjusted in many different ways. Thinking back to the previous engines I had used stands for, I couldn’t think of any that this would not work for.
In the video I mention that I wasn’t sure it would work for a six-cylinder engine. Looks like I was wrong because in their advertising images they have a picture of one being used with a CBX six.

Hey guys. I bought one from ya at Stafford in April. Easy to assemble and mount engine. Your next mission, should you choose, is to add a rotator.... somehow. However, this stand works a treat. Thank you!

It is a great stand. But it isn't us that sell them :) ours is just a review. I like the idea of something that would rotate the engine, but I suspect it would make the stand a hell of a lot bigger.

So far so good, I would definitely recommend picking up one of these instead of a different one for each engine you deal with. 👍

A nice stand for display, storage, working on the top end, clutch, and alternator. What it is not useful for is a complete engine tear down since you can't split the cases to inspect / work on the crankshaft or transmission. A better engine stand for complete tear down would be one of the old American Honda stands that hold the engine by the upper rear engine mount with an overarm to support the engine when is is upside down.

Thanks for the feedback. I am pretty that it can be configured so that both mounts are on the bottom case, so you could split the cases. I only realised this when I started doing some other work on it. I haven't tried it yet but I am pretty sure it would work. The big benefit of this stand is that it can be used for a big variety of engines, a bespoke stand will always be a little better, but it does add cost into working on other engines.

Greetings from Tasmania Australia. As an Automotive high school teacher this little number would be a great addition to the school workshop. It looks as though they don't ship to Aus:(( so will have to make one:(( Thanks for posting.

Interesting thought, I suspect making a replica is fine. Until you go into production :) Good luck with your project.

Ha, I can remember a time when I wouldn't have made it look so heavy. Hope you stick around to see it being lifted off as well.

How about a Honda CX 500 engine, would be alot nicer than on the floor.

Interesting, if you look at the images on the manufacturers sales listing you should get a good idea if you could use it for a CX. Don't they mount from one end with a front stay so it may need some ingenuity for the CX. Good luck.

There is a link in the description, but I notice that they are out of stock. You could try contacting the company asking when they will become available. I do hope you get sorted, I have made good use of this stand.

That engine looks stable and easy to access on that stand, looks a very good solution for most common engine designs. Better but not as cheap as my home made old wooden one for the Z500 engine. see my vid for that kzread.info/dash/bejne/X4WB3NuwZMi1otI.html also made a cylinder head stand from wood kzread.info/dash/bejne/o4musrKiibC3cto.html excellent vid and info.
