@7:05 Joseph Smith appointed James Strang as his successor, not Brigham Young. That decision has been upheld by the courts within the United States of America and is the reason why Strang's followers continue to use the group's original name of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints while Brigham Young was compelled to change the name to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Therefore, it is both historically and legally incorrect to refer to Young as the "2nd leader" as you did.

@@GgdivhjkjlStrang certainly claimed that Joseph Smith appointed him as successor, but that claim is based on a dubious document that makes little sense in the history of the Church generally. I’m curious which court cases you believe back that claim up. The hyphen was added to make the name of the church grammatically correct-it had nothing to do with the Strangites’ claims to use of the name.

I realize that this might be a difficult one but I was wondering recently if anyone has thought of doing a chart the evolution of modern music and its origins. Blues, jazz, folk, rock, punk, country, hip-hop etc, how they may have influenced each other and where they began to diverge. It could be really cool if there are any music scholars out there who might be interested in taking that on. Just a thought.

I should've sent in my family tree. It has over 2,000 people on it, including Louis XIV, Lightfoot Harry Lee, Geronimo, Bushrod Washington, and Charlemagne. It also traces back to the late 3rd century on some branches. I was very careful to make sure the records are accurate, but there's also a "fun" section that includes mythical lineages tracing back from early kings to ancient gods. I use dotted lines for adoption and gold for mythical or unconfirmed branches, while each family branch has its own color

I’m fairly sure that ‘Queen Mother’ was a *title*, not a category, invented for Elizabeth of York in 1952 (the current king’s grandmother) and refers to being the mother of the queen who had the same name (ie ‘queen’s mother’), rather than mother of the monarch. The intention was to avoid confusion as otherwise she would have been called ‘Queen Elizabeth’ following tradition. It was one of those bits of trivia I remember from when she died in 2002. Citation needed!

An odd note about the Smith extended genealogy, specifically over on the Orson Scott Card side-line. Hugh B. Brown, who appears on the chart as Zola's father, was one of the most notable liberals in LDS church leadership in the mid 20th century. There was a long-running, pointed back-and-forth between him and Ezra Taft Benson (also on the chart) over Benson's promoting the John Birch Society while serving in his church post.

@@mrXOwarrior Desdemona Fuller was one of Joseph Smith Jr.'s plural wives. After his death, she became one of Ezra T. Benson's plural wives. Fun fact, the 'Prince' of Wales although a subservient title to the King of England these days, was in fact an arguably higher title, as the first 'Prince' of Wales rules when Wales have tens of Kings with wildly varying size Kingdoms, but 'Prince' or 'Princep' indicated they were not merely another welsh king, but rather the primary ruler of Wales, and drew inspiration from the title which several early Roman Emperors used. The Sumerian King List also has several other Kings who should probably be mentioned in the longest reigning kings. Apparently, Sumerians lived a long time. And as for Joe Biden's Odin connection, it's *fictional* in the sense it's not necessarily true in the historic sense, but it is true to historic *legends*, Biden is descended from those English and Anglo-Saxon monarchs in a presumably proven manner, and those ancient royal families claimed descent from Odin through that path (or similar paths. I've looked at this stuff for other reasons unrelated to Biden and it's obviously very messy).

And i agree with it being cruel as much as i liked seeing the horses. And when a horse breaks a leg they put them down so its mean. I like the Wales, if i get money Id buy that one. And the Australia was so complete. Im on reddit so Ill join the community. Ive been working on my genealogy and i have a lot of lines that fill in on some charts. I want to enter for this year. I have some lost lines for the royal charts. We ended up in Nebraska during the germans and durch settling. And it turned out my grandma is directly from the Danish royal line and it turns out its my grandpa who has a close direct rotlyal line it doesnt go back far to get to royalty. And we go back to the plantagenants and its solid. I thought we were going to be poor Scots lol. so i guess my grandma had a little money to keep them comfortable. But we didnt grow up with money. Im actually disabled on SSDI and on affordable housing. So thats what happened to some royal lines lol. Everyone else just lives i guess middle class definitely not rich lol. Whats funny though is my mom, grandma and great grandma stuck to royal danish traditions like things with marriage. So i had a very odd pre marriage meeting with my ex and his parents. Its a genealogy meeting. And the parents go over the genealogy before approving the marriage. My ex asked my dad first to without me knowing. So his family followed Spaniard traditions.

That one chart showing the various Christian churches and their ecclesiastical groupings looks pretty interesting. For a religions major, that chart would be quite useful, especially if there were corresponding charts for Judaism, Islam, and other major faith groups.

As it turns out Matt I spent a little over a decade breeding and racing thoroughbreds. This video includes a topic on part of the bloodlines of the thoroughbred. While I understand the comment on eliminating horses racing I take huge exception with that opinion for many good reasons not based on feelings but facts.

Steve Young is a direct descendent of Brigham Young. Steve Young was the quarterback in the 1990s of the San Francisco 49ers. He took Joe Montana's spot after he retired from football. Steve Young has won several Super Bowls with the 49ers during his football career. He came into the NFL from Brigham Young University and is a current active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints today. This is from what I've heard from many members of the church since I have been a member in the past 12 years.
