Some contact lens solutions are far superior than others. Check out the top name brand solutions, as well as how they compare to generic and cheaper contact lens solutions. The main solutions mentioned in this video are:
-Bausch and Lomb Biotrue: top rated and top sold solution on amazon. Has less preservatives that may help with the comfort of your contacts.
-Alcon Opti-Free PureMoist: Highly rated with a moisture matrix, HydraGlyde, to help coat the contact, that may help with dryness.
-Acuvue Revitalens: great disinfectant solution and underrated in my opinion.
-Alcon Clear Care: Amazing Solution made of Hydrogen Peroxide. This solution does not have preservatives which can be very nice for those with sensitive and dry eyes.

    Would it be possible to use the generic ones for all the rinsing and possibly rubbing? Rinsing each side for 10secs with a 300ml bottle for $10-$12 each will make you go broke easily. Use the expensive better quality one for the lensholder overnight the cheap one for rinsing.

Switched to acuvue revitalens and it works great with those contacts. I have a quick question. If I want to remove my contact lenses for like an hour going swimming and showering. Is it ok to pop them back in after that hour without letting them stay in the solution for the whole six hours? I'll rinse them with saline before putting them back in too.

    I think I have a few, but for a different reason. The toric oasys lenses correct for more astigmatism and sometimes that is needed to make the vision better. Most of the time we stick with the same brand so it's not tricky to remember to change them out at 2 weeks or 1 month.

    Thank you for this video! I have worn Acuvue Oasys for a few years, but lately I have been having issues with them getting kind of a film or buildup in some spots that causes cloudiness. I was thinking it was either one of my face products (ie moisturiser) or sunscreen somehow getting on them, but now I wonder if it is my solution. I use Optifree Pure moist daily, and Clear care plus occasionally. Neither seem to get it off despite me following the instructions. I am going to try the Acuvue solution since these other 2 are no longer working for me.

    My eyes definitely feel better using the Acuvue solution, and it seems to be more effective in cleaning them. Today they seemed to cloud up again, even though I clean them properly. It might have been because I had been outside sweating…maybe it got on them? I have a bunch of them left, so I’m starting with a fresh pair tomorrow. I might ask to try a different brand after I finish the boxes I already have…but I am kind of hesitant since these are usually so comfortable and have worked very well for years. I tried biofinity toric once and they were horrible. I could feel them with every blink and were all around uncomfortable, heavy on the eye, and drying. I couldn’t wait to take them out at the end of each day. Out of curiosity, which brand do your patients usually switch to if they are having problems like mine? I forgot to mention earlier that I wear oasys for astigmatism, not the regular oasys.

  • @DrEyeGuy

    @DrEyeGuy

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@veronica575m The clouding can sometimes be from dryness, or even alight allergies (maybe from the material of the contact lens itself). Acuvue Vita will feel the same as Oasys (same design) but slightly different material (1-month material). Other than that, patients usually do better in a daily type of lens (thinner, less change of clouding since it's a new lens every day).

    Good question! A few tricky questions for you. Do you know if your brain suppresses your right eye when you have both eyes open? Do you have better depth perception when you have your right corrected? If you have better depth perception, then I would try lenses, either glasses or VR lenses.....Buuuttt... the tricky part is that that right eye lens will make things more magnified and might cause some strain with both of your eyes open. A contact in that right eye would be an awesome option. You won't have the magnifying problem.

    I am a new wearer of RGP contacts, Boston seems to be the "go to" for hard lenses, but it makes my eyes itch. My eye doctor and I are trying different solutions/drops to give me a less cloudy view of the world. Even Refresh drops seem to also dirty the lens (monovision). It is so frustrating to put my clean lens in my eye and in a few hours it is cloudy. It's definitely a struggle.

    Do you have a coating on your lenses? I wonder if the coating has come off or is not working correctly?

    I have a question let’s say I buy opti free I do have sensitive eyes and really want colored contacts with no prescription only for special occasions let’s say I buy those cleaning contact machines I don’t need to rub them right? The machine will do it for me do I still need to have the solution wait for 6 hours even though the machine says “clean for 3-5 minutes” and I wanted to get clear care but people have gotten burn even after the 6 hour period mark??

    I assume you are.talkijg about the vibrating cleaners? You won't have to rub your lenses if you do that, but you still want it to smoke in a disinfecting solution. If you leave the contacts in the clear care solution for 6 hours you won't get burned. The solution is water at point.....as long as you have been replacing the case at recommended times.

    You do want to get a prescription for them from you eye doctor. Colored contacts are know for being not very breathable on the eye and you want to make sure they won't damage your eyes by your eye doc. Sometimes the contacts come in these little jars, and you can store them in there with the multipurpose solution, like puremoist. But you have to remember to change the solution every month or so.
