🔷PRO TIP!
Ask your local eye doctor or eye clinic about rebates and benefits to save money on your contacts! You will be supporting a local business and it will grant you better services and advantages than purchasing online.
CORRECTION! I misspoke a few times and referred to the Dk (oxygen permeability) and Dk/t (oxygen transmissibility) incorrectly (I actually called it “D over K”). However, the concept of oxygen getting to the cornea is correct.
The subject of oxygen permeability and transmissibility through a contact lens to the eye can get very complex. Something I plan to address in a future video in that it really needs a full episode to itself to explain. Keep a look out for future videos about contact lenses!
QUESTION - What brand of lenses are you wearing? Have you made the switch to daily contact lenses yet? Let me know in the comment section.

    I started with Acuvue TrueEye in 2012. But I stopped using them because they strained my eyes and made it dry and painful. Then I discovered Dailies Total 1 and I totally loved it! Been wearing them for years and have no issue at all. At one point, I forgotten to take it off for 3 days and when I realised, I got worried so badly but after I took it off, I don’t seemed to have any issue with it. Then this month, I tried BioTrue ONEday. It is alright but it can’t beat Dailies Total 1. The ONEday CL is a little bit dry but it is still better than Acuvue TrueEye. For cost price, ONEday is way cheaper than DailiesTotal. I hv been using ‘em for 15 days now.. I might be continuing it and alternate it with Dailies Total since it will be a great savings fr me. Thanks for the review anyway. Felt good to also know that ONEday has UV protection.

    @@deesticco1719 Hey! Not Doc here, but an optom student. Hope I can help. First, I recommend moving to another brand of daily soft contact lenses with a higher Dk than the Air Optix. This includes eg. ACuvue Vita, Acuvue Oasys, Biofinity, etc. And then if that doesn't work, move onto sclerals. As the whole fitting and cost for Scleral lenses can be time-consuming and its costly (1000+ in AUS). Scleral lenses are about as comfortable as dailies.

    I hope Daily total one can have an astigmatism type asap, I have astigmatism and dry eye problem, and I use Acuvue Moist for astigmatism, I feel the existence of the contacts every second and dried. Until my doctor gave me Acuvue Oasis for astigmatism daily, I finally feel free, I barely feel the existence and it's comfortable for my 16 hours schedule, but still, it gets dry when wind blows(west coast weather) And my doctor told me Oasis is currently the best one for people who have dry eyes and astigmatism, there's no other brand or product can replace it for now. So hopefully Alcon can come up with an astigmatism brand for it.

    I'm wearing contact lens for about a year now. I tried so many brands and so many type of lenses may it be yearly and a monthly but when I switch into daily ones. It level up my game in contacts and I don't worry too much if I clean them properly or is the soaking time for my lenses were right. In daily contact lens you are confident to put them on straight out of the package and it does not sting at all specially the acuvue lenses though it is not properly fit for me because the base curve is 8.5 and mine is 8.6 but it doesn't really matter because it super comfortable and I can function all through out the day and I can wear them for about 12-16 hours.

    Hi! I’ve worn contacts for about two years, and I’ve switched from different monthly/biweekly contacts, trying to find the right one. Each contact brand had been rough on my sensitive dryish eyes and made the white part of my eye red. I am thinking about switching from my Acuvue Hydraclear biweekly contacts to Dailies Total 1 contacts. Is this a good idea, and will the redness go away when wearing the contacts?

    I've tried Dailies Total 1. They're fantastic. I can't feel them at all, even after wearing them for 14 hours. It's almost a shame to take them out and throw them away. But i've also tried other silicone lenses (specsaver easy vision aquaine). They cost half as much as the Total 1, and i can almost not tell the difference between them. Perhaps if i was really trying to feel them, maybe i could. But if i would just get the two lenses and try them on without knowing which was which, i doubt i could tell the difference. Any silicone lens will feel fantastic.

  • @DoctorEyeHealth

    @DoctorEyeHealth

    5 жыл бұрын

    Hey Laura! Excellent question! I am actually working on that video and should be coming very soon. In short, there are many good lenses for astigmatism. However, an easy answer is the Acuvue Oasys Astigmatism lenses as they come in a daily lens (which is healthiest) and a 2 week lens. They even now have the Acuvue Vita Astigmatism lens which is a monthly replacement and all have good breathability and works well for most people. I do also like the Bausch and Lomb Biotrue One day Astigmatism and the Bausch and Lomb Ultra torics. Similar to B&L is the Coopervision Biofinity Torics (both B&L and Coopervision use a "Prism ballast" stabilization for the astigmatism where the Acuvues use a "Blink stabilization" design. Some designs do work better for some people based on corneal curvature and comfort preference.

    Hey Saumya! Thanks for watching. My favorite contact lens right now for both dryness and breathability is the Daily Total 1 (I am wearing them right now (not sponsored btw I really just like them)), as mentioned in the video it has the latest tech in comfort and oxygen breathability, but it does come at a higher cost. Additionally, there are other factors that play in terms of comfort such as lens design. I do have patients that do not like the total 1 and prefer other brands such as the Bausch and Lomb BioTrue One day Lenses for dryness. In addition the fit of the lenses should be assessed by a professional so that there is little risk of long term damage to the eye. For best results I would consult your local eye doctor for a fitting to ensure the best vision and comfort. BUT be sure to ask about these lenses and see if you can get a trial of them. Let us know what you end up getting! What lenses have you tried already?

    For many people it is just a matter of getting used to the lenses. Most soft contact lenses, when fit correctly, are extremely comfortable and most people do not feel them until they begin to dry out. Some times just learning to touch your eyelids with a clean finger will train yourself slowly to get used to coming close to the eye.
