    This makes me tear up just watching it .. the music, the whales, the trainers. This really was incredible back in the day and it still is, even now with the current Seaworld debate. There is no doubt that these trainers love these whales. RIP Dawn, Kalina and Taima, may you all rest in peace xx

    Heartbreaking to see Dawn again. She was the trainer that inspired me to want to work with these animals. I would have too if it weren’t for them banning water work with them. Such a great person and had a bond with Tilley that was amazing. It’s good to see her again in this video doing exactly what she loved.

    You could work with dolphins instead - water work isn't banned with them yet (and since dolphins seem to actually do rather well in captivity health-wise, it's unlikely that they will be scaled out of marine parks like killer whales are.

    @@ulisesmarvels TL;DR. I will point out that I am actually very strongly against both PETA and Blackfish - that "documentary" was a massive pile of footage used out of it's proper context. (Such as audio used as the Orcas crying because their babies are taken away, which was actually audio of Orcas feeding - that was actually their *happy* sound.) But from the current research we have, Orcas just don't do well in captivity. For example, in the wild, they stay with their families for their whole lives. So it actually doesn't matter how old the Orca is when they're separated - it's still a massive stressor to them. And the whales aren't just "sleeping" all the time... Why do you think they seem to always be "sleeping" when they don't have a show? Not even Orcas need 16 hrs of sleep per day. It's called boredom.

    Lil Kat Artist The trainers do love these animals very very much and enjoy working with them everyday. A lot of them have even said the only reason they're staying with the job is because they feel bad for the animals and want to take care of them. They are very beautiful, but lets face it, they dont belong in concrete pools. Captivity has proven to stress them out (some of them bang their heads against the walls, dorsal/flapped over fins are a sign of stress, shorter life spans, etc) The average Orca in the wild lives up to the age of a normal human being! (about 60-70 years!) While captive orcas live to be about 40.

  • @spacebug31

    @spacebug31

    Alexis Quintana dorsal fins flop over due to gravity (this is basic physics anti caps just can't seem to grasp). The life span of wild males is only 30, females 60. First generation orcas probably experience more stress, but second gen orcas have never seen the ocean so they don't know any better. There are definitely bad places for these animals (Miami Seaquarium, Marineland Canada etc) but SeaWorld is not one of those. These animals get the best care in the world and are constantly mentally and physically stimulated.

    I just returned from San Diego Seaworld & saw orcas for the first time... yes I agree, with trainers it was much more magical, but then again, no matter how happy & cheerful they look, they were always putting their lives in danger for a good show... I've watched a lot of the Shamu shows on here and I have to say, this one was by far the most energetic. The trainers, the whales and the audience were on form! I mean, I'm not condoning the capture of whales and I'm glad they are no longer allowed to, but this is a spectacle to behold. And before anybody feels the need to lecture me, I've watched 'Blackfish' a hundred times over and read John Hargrove's 'Beneath the Surface', I'm just saying, I understand why it was so successful back in the day!

    Boy I'm really gonna miss watching these orca shows at SeaWorld it was my favorite show to watch whenever I go there, but maybe some of you people were right it wasn't exactly all of the trainers's fault about what's going on that they can't control the orcas maybe it really was all of the owners's fault that started all of this and change this because they think if something bad happens again they decided to change it differently and the reason they did like that it's because they think it's much more safer. If I had a chance to work there and do what the trainers do to control the whales and dolphins I would be the only one and the only person to help and controling them because I've been learning to become a marine biologist since I was 8, 9 and 10 years old. But at 10:00 through 13:40 it made realized that I wanna be just like Dawn because she was a beautiful and wonderful trainer and she really did love these orca whales with beauty and passion even when they play the song called "Something Far Greater" that song fit perfect for her to perform and it was amazing and beautiful.

We all loved this show, but I do understand the controversy that has caused them to eliminate such things. Dawn is featured at 10:00 in this video, may she rip. I’m grateful for the memories I have from these visits as a child as well as the day I spent here with my kids. That’s the most important part of shows like this that once existed.

    It's amazing to see the love the trainers have for the animals the little kisses she gives the whale while laying on it's stomach was not part of the show. To also see how the whales don't actually attack the trainers. There are records of many attacks but the damages the whales cause verses what they are truly capable of when you see them flipping ice Berg's makes you stop and wonder if it's malicious in intent. I think the whales are bored and frustrated and lonely. They are social animals that need family and when they separate a mom.and their calf it's traumatic. Unfortunately it's the trainers who get the shade flung at them when it should be the corporate suits. These animals are amazing in their intellect and their social structures. Very similar to elephants and even humans. It's been shown they use language like we do to talk between them

Do i agree with her, do i think she was uncarefull and she steped over the rules when dealing with Tilikum, yes, maybe i think that too but that doesn't mean that i don't love her! She was an amazing person, great trainer...what happened that day only she knows and only she can tell if she would changed some things or not. But that is not important now. This show is her legacy and yes i love it. LOVE IT! And more important, the whole world feels for her! I feel for that animal too because it sure wasn't Tilikums fault! Maybe you should see the documetary "Blackfish". That may change your opinion. But YES, I LOVE TILIKUM AND I THINK THAT HE IS FANTASTIC ANIMAL, MOST BEAUTIFUL IN EVERY POSSIBLE WAY. She stepped over the rules? There aren't any rules when you're dealing with a wild animal. It's pretty ironic how you're telling me to watch blackfish to change my opinion, yet you're here happy about the show at Sea world. Black fish was made to show how cruel Seaworld and other management that capture whale for show.

  • @Aleks0709

    @Aleks0709

    9 жыл бұрын

    Dennis Tran Yes, stepped over the rules, there are strict rules on dealing with Tilikum. I don't support how whales are treated, i said i loved the Believe show and people and whales performing in that show. I told you to watch Blackfish cause in that movie you would see what kind of life did Tilikum had, and that it's not his fault, humans are those who should be blamed in first place. Also in the movie you would see that Dawn's colleagues are not in agreement with how she handled the whole situation. But just because she may have made a few mistakes and just because SeaWorld is not the place for a killer whale...that doesn't mean that we should hate Tilikum. If he had a choice he would still swim in the ocean and live free. From artistict point of view show is the masterpiece and i respect those trainers and those whales. And yes, i still love Tilikum. But you are mixing two things.

  • @Patriotsfan4life00

    @Patriotsfan4life00

    Actually I watched the movie recently... The so called person that didn't agree with Dawn's decision was Seaworld. Former trainers were mad because the media/Seaworld said it was Dawn's fault. If you said it was Dawn's fault then you would say it was the other trainer's fault that died when Tilikum dragged her beneath the ocean.

    As a surfer, swimmer and biology student, I have such a deep love for the ocean and for all its creatures. I've been lucky enough to swim with dolphins, sharks and whales alike, BUT only in the wild. Cetaceans, in particular, will not attack humans in the wild. In fact, they have a natural instinct to want to be a companion to humans, but again, ONLY in the wild. If your friend put you in a cage for years and made you perform tricks three times a day for food, you would learn pretty quickly to stop seeing them as your friend. That's exactly how these whales feel. We, as humans, really want to have a relationship with these animals, but we cannot have that relationship if we put them in tiny tanks for decades and expect them to still want to be our friends. The SeaWorld trainers really do have a deep, unwavering love for these beautiful orcas, but SeaWorld has let that love cost some trainers their lives by not understanding that you just cannot keep these animals in such tiny facilities, literally a stone throw away from the ocean where they belong

    They get a good deal of heat too, but the thing is, Lolita, the killer whale there is now 53. The oldest of any killer whale in captivity. She's been there for 50 years, which is insanely impressive. Evidently there are more important factors than mere tank size. For example, since there are only dolphins with her, she doesn't get aggression from other whales, and more importantly, she doesn't have the stress of being transported to another marine mammal park - which SeaWorld does a lot. In my opinion, these are the chief reasons why she's lived for over 50 years when most of SeaWorld's killer whales struggle to get to 20.
