Beer, Amateur Wrestling, and a Oaxacan Feast: Chef's Night Out with Lodge Bread
Ойын-сауық
In this episode of Chef's Night Out, Or Amsalam and Alexander Phaneuf of Lodge Bread in Culver City, Los Angeles gather up their friends for a night out at some of their favorite South Bay spots.
The night starts off with a Oaxacan feast at El Jacalito Oaxaqueño for mole negro and enchiladas. They then head to Three Weavers Brewery in Inglewood for lots of beers. Next up is Hatchet Hall, where their friend, chef Brian Dunsmoor, decides to "ruin them with food." Oysters, duck, asparagus, game hen, salmon pancakes, every salad and crudo on the menu: you name it, they had it. After the meal, they walk next door to Hatchet Hall's Old Man Bar to party like not-so-old men, for more beers, whiskey shots, and amateur wrestling. They may not totally remember heading back to Lodge Bread to make shakshuka, hummus, tabouleh, and pita, but they remember having a good time.

I really don't understand the general negativity towards chefs and cooks who want to use or create products that are natural, tasty and ACTUALLY GOOD FOR YOU.

@vawies "pretentious douchebag". dude relax. They make bread in a simple and natural way. People liked it and their business succeed. End of story
"sent me a text saying 'don't hit us with so much food' so we are just going to completely fuckin ruin them" my kinda guy

Close names! Odd coincidence!
"its a micro full service eatery" restaurant, you mean a small restaurant .
Lol the haters. I live near Lodge Bread. I walk here with my babe when I'm exhausted and want a treat. The employees are always super kind. They usually say hi to my baby and are I never feel judged for looking like a frazzled mom, which I don't find typical of other "hipster" establishments. Although they were acting crazy and drunk for the cameras these are really great people. This is how bread should be made. It's the only bread I can eat that won't mess up my digestion. If you don't like it go eat some Tito's Tacos.

Geez, what's wrong with Tito's Tacos???
I love these! It's nice to watch people having fun and eating good food
As a Oaxaqueño, I can confirm it’s authentic food. . . Also a tlayuda is said like “cli” like climb, “u” like you, and “da” like doppelgänger . Clí-ú-dá Tlayuda
People just need to chill. They can cook, they are successful, they apparently are not terrible people. I don't most (not all) of the people commenting have half the skill or business experience as them. I get it if the guys commentating are trained chefs but otherwise.

People who are disappointed with their own life hate seeing people doing their thing
Everyone is such a critic when it comes to the chefs night out series. No one can go out and have a good time and talk about their food without being called pretentious.

Of course they can! They can go out and have a good time and talk about their food without being pretentious. Then no one will call them pretentious.

Bread when done right is the best thing you can eat.

God I hate hipsters but they can make some delicious food and never heard of that Oaxacan place b4 but going to give it a try and I'm surprised the didn't get the fried crickets instead of the chips
Why the Spanish music for the Oaxacan restaurant?
adding to the public forum of discussion; food is about bringing people together and munchies does it well, but, there needs to be a broader cast of people and not just a severe case of nepotism.

Come to NYC
Thumbs up for good Mexican food!

Why do they all drink Stiegl Grapefruit-Radler in the states? I mean it is good, yes. But this "beer" has to fly across the atlantic ocean to get there.
11:27 hahaha
How are they hipster?
Waited until watching the whole thing to check the comments. Suspicion confirmed: they come off extremely pretentious.
I really love our free country & all it provides, we are blessed beyond measure..6-more yrs
