Robin at the start and then Barry is the softer tone and then again Barry sings the second verse. This was the first song they wrote when they got back together after their break up in the early 70s. Even better when sung live. Bee Gees were the best!

Just the first verse is Robin. The rest of the song is Barry on lead vocals, and then all of them come together for their signature three part harmonies. This song, and Lonely Days were written after they had been broken up for around 18 months, so there’s a lot of meaning behind the lyrics. You should check out Lonely Days next. 😊

Robin started the first verse and then Barry. Love these brothers the best. Al Green recorded this about a year after the Bee Gees and did very well with it. But it is a Bee Gees song. Heart reaction. FYI MJ would call and ask Barry to sing it for him. Michael loved this sony.

Robin with intro. Barry at "aaand..." in that soft affecting tone and the rest of verses. Then all three come in for harmonies. Yes, I agree that covers can be very different yet as good as the original. I think, J, that the fact this song was about the brothers' break-up for 18 months in 1969-70 and a make-up song lends their track a special poignancy. There was a deep sadness and heartache to recover from and a trust to re-establish. Took several years to do it, but the sibling love was unextinguishable, always there. I adore these guys for baring their emotions to their fans. Robin, Maurice, and Barry talked openly about those heart-growth months. My having 4 siblings being scattered all over the country and very loving --I understand about sibling rivalry and heartbreaks it can cause.

Speaking of Grease… The title song was written by Barry, offered to falsetto icon Frankie Valli, and produced by Barry. They performed it live in Vegas with ONJ and her daughter on the front row. Please react to it. Your reactions are always great. Thanks!

Robin sings the first verse. I loved these early Bee Gees songs before I heard the word disco. There’s a video for I Started A Joke from 1969 with Robin on lead.

This was a favorite with MJ. He would call up Barry and ask him to sing it to him over the phone. MJ and Barry wrote a duet together "All in Your Name"

@@nelerhabarber5602It’s just a 2 minute clip of MJ expressing how much he loved the BG’s and how much the Saturday Night Fever album inspired him - then he breaks out in song with a pal singing this song…tap in Micheal Jackson “ How can you mend a broken heart” it’s a 2 minute clip.👍🏻

Love your observation of the "coexistence" factor. Funny you should mention "Help." If you want to hear an amazing live performance that shows a really different dimension of this Beatles classic, check out the cover of "Help" done by John Farnham with The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in 1980. Addendum: I see now that I read the comments that someone else recommended John Farnham's cover of "Help." Don't miss it. It is stunning, emotional, and brings out the poignant side of the lyrics, and John gives a totally, totally different feel to the music in his dramatic pauses and his ability to make the notes soar!

If you like good covers that take their own course I would recommend John Farnham's live version of 'Help', performed with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. It is incredible!

Hi J 👋 New subscriber here. Been enjoying your Bee Gees reactions. I would like to recommend "For whom the bell tolls". There is a haunting video of them singing it under the Brooklyn Bridge with the Twin Towers and Statue of Liberty in the background. It is really haunting but beautiful. 😉

Nobody has mentioned there is a strange reverb on this audio - like a slight echo. Just fyi - this is not the norm on the original studio versions ive heard. ❤ p.s. nice reaction! love this song!
